Yep, there's a reason they are rated what they are. The games are for mature people not little kids. They tend to not be able to differentiate between reality and fantasy. And parents need to have more input and knowledge into what they are letting there kids do - whether it be music, tv/movies or games. More discipline I say, and more loving.

I have the demo of Doom 3 for the Xbox and I've played it, and I'll be saying one thing: You are all crazy to purchase a game like that. I admit, the textures are excellent, and I like the idea of shooting demons in a Mars setting, but I go against owning games that have that kind of stuff. And if you decide to call me a noob, I don't care. Besides, what would God be saying if He was with you watching you play this sort of game?

Or my avatar to keep it fare?

What would Jesus say about "The Passion?"

There are certain things that bother certain poeple, no one is to decide or force opinion of sin or salvation upon others. The kind of things that are wrong to you, aren't wrong to others.

To fight demons on mars? Isn't fighting demons a good thing? Bloody yes? But Christ's death was also bloody, and the end of the world will be even more so.

You may be right, but I was talking about Doom 3 only, not everything else. I should've gotten to the fact that the loading symbol for Doom 3 is a pentagram, the symbol of pure satanism. Just discovering that around the second time I played the D3 demo just apalled me. I like FPS games, but this is one of many FPSs that I have to leave on the store shelf. I say some crazy things when talking about games that I don't like, so forgive me if I've spoken out to much.

I don't think anyone has a problem with you speaking your mind, dude. At least I don't. ^^

Different strokes for different folks. If you can't handle this game, that's good, and we don't condemn you for it. You have to follow your convictions, after all.

I think where most people get irritated is when someone makes a blanket statement, i.e. "No Christian should play this game!" or something to that effect. It's one thing to say, "Christians should be forewarned that this game has blah blah blah in it and they should be aware of that." It's another to tell everyone to have the same convictions as you.

Oh, as an aside, I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if that's what you were doing...so if you weren't, I apologize. ^^;;

Anyway, just thought I'd throw in why some people go all defensive and stuff about games like this.

Ok, I didn`t say it was the cause of the Columbine Massacre I said it was an 'influence.' It encouraged them. I`m not saying:

"Oh yeah, Doom`s evil and when they played it and when they did they got possessed and the game controlled them to kill 13 kids in their school including themselves.."

Do you think playing Doom with a desire of torture and violence and planning to do a massacre helped? No, it didnt help. It made them worse, it encouraged them to kill. It didn`t cause them to do it. They were going to do it either if they played Doom or not, but Doom helped them encouraged them to kill.

I personally think Doom is a fun play, but I also think you need to know where your heart is at. Being depressed and being tortured by bullies and having as small desire to kill them and then playing Doom isn`t going to help you get rid of that desire.

Yojimbo, you`re right, my teacher doesn`t have al the answers but he showed us a movie on Columbine and Racheal Scott`s (by the way, Racheal was a victim) father preached and talked about how the boys thirsted for darkness and violence, and as I`ve said numerous times, playing Doom didn`t help them find the light, it geared them more towards darkness. My teacher has been researching this topic for awhile and he knows what he`s talking about and so does Racheal`s father, but you can believe what you want.

Ok, I realy want to drop this topic. I didn`t mean to go that deep into it but I figured it was a piece of informaton you guys needed whilep laying and i was aware you gyus were just going to deny it and tell me I was full of crap. Well, it`s factual. Believe it or Not.

oh so if we pick wrong, that means we ARE wrong... and YOU are right....

then whats with that news article? and all those studies done on this? And LIVE interviews with people saying it wasn't Doom that influenced the kids? All lies?

i think you're being arrogant and having this "I am holier than thou, I am right and you are wrong" attitude... and it's making me sick

you may want to drop a topic but both parties haven't consented

like what zilch said... you insult out beliefs in public and then automatically say

"OHH! NO NONONONONONON! I'm right and you are wrong! What I said is true! Nonon no buts! No buts! No buts! n-n-n-n-n-no! I said what I believe and its TRUE! Nononno you can't argue with me! just accept what i say! thats all! nonono no buts"

quite arrogant i say

you know tom... you're wrong! and I AM right... no don't try to argue with me buddy... I AM RIGHT... and YOU ARE WRONG... okay, deal with it, it's true and factually supported

you know how immature it is to say that somebody is believing wrong....

very immature

You people aggrivate me....

I`m just going to put this behind me despite how right I am and how wrong you are. I`m just going to ignore you people judging me on how immature I am just so you can get your way.

Oh that Spiritual Warfare joke was really funny alright you left me laughing for 0 whole seconds.

I never said anything about this game being too violent. I said it influenced the Columbine Massacre. They planned on killing those people and were obssessed with Doom. I was wrong when I came in and told you guys it was an influence.

I`m wrong...it`s not factual! It`s a theory. It`s what I believe. It`s what Racheal`s Scott`s father believes, and what the kids` parents believe. Let`s pretend i`m right. Even so, the bullies, the music they listened to, ect. there were probably hundreds of things that influenced that spiritual event, and I believe Doom was a minor influence while there were many others much larger.

Sorry, I`ll edit all those messages. I was in a bad mood and hated people disagreed with me just like the Mario thread.

I'm sorry I was such a butt. We have opposite opinions, but that gives me no reason to tear into you. And..well..I guess I was being the immature one, enticing you with flames. My bad. My case rests, and I hope we can put this behind us.

'scuse me whilst I bring this up, but Halo 2 is actually quite gory. Unless you're the n00b that didn't go past the first level...

The Flood explode into many munchablecrunchable pieces, parts of their limbs fly everywhere, you find blood on most ceilings and walls in enclosed spaces, and not just glowy Grunt blood, but human blood smeared along the corridors. How much attention do you pay to detail, anyway? So son't diss the fanboys cuz they like their Doom gibbies.

Houston, we have a hypocrite...

None of that, Zilch. That's not what I'd call "constructive."

Moving right along ... munchablecrunchable is the coolest word I've seen all day - but it is early still.
