Trying to Identify an NES Game...

Postby kaji » Wed Jun 08, 2005 12:44 pm

Hey every one. If you are an NES pro, maybe you can help me out.

I have been trying to remember this great game I used to play with a friend WAY back in the day.

Here's what I remember:

You could play one or two player (I think the characters were brothers), and you went around this town (side scrolling) beating up the bad guys. When you defeated an enemy, they would drop little coins that you could collect and use to purchase better/cooler moves.

Does that ring a bell for any one?

Sorry I dont really remember any more of the game... Only that it was lots of fun. ^_^

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I believe you're speaking of River City Ransom, Kaji. Fun game, played it myself.

Does the word "Barf!" come to mind?

There are several NES games that would fit that description. Do any of these ring a bell?

River City Ransom

Contra

Bad Dudes

There are a lot more, but the game you are describing sounds most like River City Ransom.

Edit: cursed bandwidth issues...if want to see pics of those games and many more, just visit www.vgmuseum.com .

Super Mario Brothers.

-Is kidding.-

I remember, being little fiddlng with my NES. It`s funny that games like Paper Boy were popular because if a game like that was released today it would make zero cash.

For everyone who doesn't know, River City Ransom was recently rereleased on GBA with better graphics and stuff. Buy it. :thumb:

Even though I`ve never played it, i can assure you it`ll be a better experience and MUCH easier to find. Too bad it`s not for SNES because Ebgames.com is having a huge SNES sale. The highest price I saw was S2.99.

Oooohhhh.....Double Dragon 1 was the second videogame I ever owned. The First was the original and best game of the series: Kirby`s Dreamland.
