So it`s ok for you guys to say: "It`s going to be the best game ever" and wrong for me to say "I expected better." I`m not saying it`s going to, but it may stink when you play it. Ans what made Zelda 2 different from the others?

Im not sure if you are being truelly inquisitive or if you are being sarcastic...

"ZELDA 2" The Adventure of Link was different from the others in that it was side-scrolling for most of the game. There was the overworld where you walked around from place to place, but once you got to any destination: BAM! SIDESCROLLINGNESS! I think a lot of people bash this game too much. A lot of Zelda fans were waiting for an awsome and yet similar sequal to Zelda 1: The Legend of Zelda. What they got was not what they expected and therefore were outraged. That's why Zelda fans were so excited when Zelda 3: A link to the past came out, it was overhead view and not sidescrolled.

The game was fun after you got over the shock that it was not the same as the first: it was different. The same thing happened with WindWaker. A lot of the shock was due to the "Awsome 3D trailer" of the "new Link" that was supposedly going to come out for GC. a few years passed after that trailer and the screenshots, and then suddenly we see Cel-Shadedness Link. Again, it was so shocking because we saw images of something else. Many Zelda fans felt that they had been fooled and "ripped-off." But after playing it, and adjusting from the shock, it was a very good game.

I'm not sure if this answered your question about what made Zelda 2 different, because i'm not quite sure if you were being sincere or being sarcastic. But that is the answer: It was different because of the Sidescrolling (although OoT/OoA and other Zelda's after did include some side-scrolling) and the fact that it's style was unexpected.

P.S. Yes, it is ok for us to say that. Most Zelda fans like to be Optimistic, and the trailers has caused many optimisms to be firmly grounded on fact. Yes, what you may have expected may not be what the actuall game will be; however, that does not mean that the game will "suck" or will be a "dissapointment." It's all a matter of choice on how you meet with something that doesnt match up to what you thought it was:

A) you can pout and complain about how cool it could have been and become pessimistic

B) You can count your losses and not shut your eyes to what OTHER many good things there are in this game and become Optimistic.

I actually don't mind Zelda II that much, though I am irritated that you lose all your experience points when you die.

I will never bash a Zelda game again before I play it, because I bashed Wind Waker for the graphics. Then I played it and repented, for aside from the irritating sailing, it was good.

Just because you see something you don't like, doesn't mean it will suck. In fact, I didn't even notice the cartoonish-ness of the graphics after playing it for a few hours.

I'm not too keen on the new fighting system they put in Wild ARMs Alter Code F, but you know what? I haven't played it yet, so I can't say that it sucks.

I think it's going to be interesting, and the whole bunny thing from LttP was referenced, as well as Majora's Mask (which I liked), so I won't repeat those.

I just prefer being open to both sides on many things.
Most likey the game will be quite good, but it still may have some flaws. I liked the Wind Waker and Minish Cap's uniqueness, but both had fewer main dungeons than most of the games (only 7?!). Still, they were undeniable good, and if the new one lives up to expectations (with more than 7 dungeons) than I'll be happy.

What I don't like being done is flaming, saying that a main part of the game (such as becoming a wolf) is a bad idea before you even play the game.
Alot of my friends flamed WW for its graphics. I thought they were OK, but at the same time wanted to something kind of darker feeling, like OoT made me feel, so I had mixed feelings on both sides.

EEEK!!! This game is going to be SO AWESOME!!! I seriously can't wait!! I was a little dissapointed at first by the Windwaker after seeing the testing screenshots of Link vs. Ganondorf that they had for the release of the GCN (WW's really a wonderful game, and I enjoyed it immensely, *especially the last battle with Ganondorf!* but I do prefer the older Link...^_^), but I was so excited when I saw this for the first time!!! Fighting on horseback...Gyaaah, I can't wait!! However, I don't think any game can beat Ocarina of Time...Perhaps equal to or a close second. Never better than, though, because there's no arguing the fact that that certainly was Nintendo at its best. Man, that game was truly great...^_^

Yesh! It truelly was a classic. I mean, come on. EVEN THE END WAS CLASSIC! that final scene before turning all sepia when Young Link went up the steps and zelda turned around XD! LOVE IT!!!!!

One thing i have been wondering about is the title: TWILIGHT PRINCESS. AT first i thought it was going to be zelda... but now im not quite so sure. Think about it: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS (ZELDA). LOZ: ZELDA? it just doesnt seem to make sense. Though they did have link in the title in the past: LOZ: A LINK TO THE PAST, etc. Also... i have been thinking that the MIDNA character is Zelda transformed... but im not so sure about that now either. The random MM mask eye that is covering her face is making me very very suspicious.

What do you guys think?

And the truth is, this Next Zelda game better deliver. because...

You'd also have to realize that there are more game systems out now that have to divide the consumer's wants. That, and a majority of the consumers are greedy little brats or just plain stupid. Or really nerdy. Nerdier than me. Or overly hardcore. Pick one.

AMEN. yeah. It's like Myoti said. One of the main reasons this decline in NINTENDO purchases is because of diff systems from diff companies now. But NINTENDo has a LARGE fan base that won't just abandon it for no reason. WE FANBOYS ARE STILL HERE!

Exactly, Volt. Think about it. When NES came out, what other systems were there? There was the Atari 7800, which the NES made obsolete. The only other systems were Turbografx16, the first 16-bit system, which had very few good games, and the Sega Master System, the 8-bit Sega, also with a very small fanbase. NES had a lot more games that were more popular, which is why the NES smoked everyone in sales.

When SNES came out, the only other competitor really was Sega Genesis. Genesis had a lot of good games and Sega was able to finally hold their own against Nintendo. With both systems at the $200 mark (a lot more back then than it is today), most families could only afford to have one of the two. Thus, Nintendo's sales dropped a bit.

However, when N64 came out, Sony had finally released the Playstation. There was also the Sega Dreamcast. Again, with most families only able to afford one system, Nintendo's sales weren't as great...combined with the fact that most people thought cartridges were "ancient" and the CD was the way to go.

Now, when Gamecube came out, there was Xbox and PS2. With no Mario launch title (and the one that finally came out being only mediocre), Nintendo lost a lot of sales.

I think it's unfair to say Nintendo is the "good guy" and the other companies are "evil." Nintendo, like any other company, is out to make a profit. If you don't make a profit, you don't have a business. Therefore, Nintendo is no more good or evil than MS or Sony. They all have the same goal: to stay in business. Nintendo didn't lower the price of Gamecube to $99 to be nice...they did it because they were losing money and needed to turn a profit.

I joke around a lot, but to be flatly honest, the only reason I don't like Xbox is it doesn't have any games that interest me. Period. I don't think Microsoft is "evil," they're a company. They exist to make money, and they do it quite well. It's their job to try and get people to buy their products, and make the opposition look subpar. If Nintendo fails, it's not because "the man" was holding them down, it's because they can't relate to their consumers. End of story.

Sorry if this sounds really harsh, but it's the truth. ^^;;

Unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo has literally been able sell their consoles on their multiple first-party franchises alone. At least, they have so far.

When the lowest scores a company's games ever usually get are in the 7's and 8's, then they must be doing something right. Yeah, people can complain about Windwaker's graphical style all they want, but that doesn't change the fact that it got 9's and 10's from the reviewers who actually played it.

With no Mario launch title (and the one that finally came out being only mediocre), Nintendo lost a lot of sales.

...

I enjoyed Mario Sunshine. And quite a few others did as well, judging from the scores. Getting an 8.0 at Gamespot and a 9.4 at IGN is not what I would consider mediocre.

Yea Kae. XBOX really doesnt have any games that interest me either. Only one or two really have interested me lately, so we may get an XBOX360 when the prices go down. Then we will have all 3 consoles! (we already have GC and ps2) Even though we already have PS2, and will prolly get ps3 when it comes out as well as REVOLUTION, i still love nintendo the most because of the originality it has in it's game's and game characters. That's why i love nintendo. It makes games that are fun. Period.

but now... GETTING BACCCK ON TOPIC!!!!

YAHOOOO A NEW ZELDA (my two favorite game series that i probably never stop liking are Zelda and Final Fantasy, and Zelda wins!) I like Zelda, but i dont have all the free time I used to. I assumed they were already working on another one, but i knew nothing about it. Is there a release date or at least a release guess (like spring of .... you know that kind of realease info)?

Probably not, seeing as nearly every Zelda game is suppose to be based in an alternate world. I think the mask thing is just some wierd (yet cool) hat they came up with to be unique for the game. It could lead into some interesting special abilities and such, seeing as it has some sort of hand thing coming out of it.

BTW, does anyone here get NP? The next issue is suppose to have a DVD containing lots of footage and stuff on Zelda:TP and E3. Very kewl. :D

O.O That is SO flippin' SWEET!!! But...Zelda should have a bow and arrow, right?? That's what she used in the Wind Waker...But, if Myamoto-san wants to give her a sword, it's perfectly fine by me!! I hope she's a playable character...*thinks about how awesome that would be...and how cool it would be if Sheik/spoiler were in this one, too...* Sheik rules!
