So, I wanna play an RPG to keep me busy during the Summer, suggestions?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

I don`t play with my parents...

Religouis themes don`t bother me much because they`re just video games but I do like giving up when your challenged to fight God. If I wasn`t a Christian, then these Religous themes would probably play tricks in my mind.

How bad is the language in Xenogears and how many Discs does it contain?

Xenogears is two discs, and it wasnt so much foul language as it was dialog content, some gore and heavey religious tones. Though you dont fight God him self, you do have to fight what is perceived to be god in the world...

I dont want to sound too much like a parent here, but I do want you to make good choices. So, why should it matter if you play a game with or with out your parents around? Does that mean you would play some games you might be ashamed of your parents seeing? And if so, does that mean you are concealing what you are exposing your self too from your parents and why should your standards be any different then theirs?

Its not so much whether or not you can 'handle' a game/movie/music, but whether or not you should expose your self to it in the first place.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I already know what to expect don`t worry....

Isn`t Halo worse anyway in the violence department? -check
What about Music? if the lyrics drop the F bomb every two seconds I`ll just mute it then again I doubt the music`s lyrics would be English...

What can I handle? From what i`ve seen i`ve played much worse. Not that i`m proud of it or anything.

I just wanted to encouraging you to consider if what you expose your self to is really worth it or not. No matter now little dog poop you put in your brownie mix, its still dog poop. Sure, some people like the taste of poop, other people can tolerate it (because they really like brownies) but it's still there and you are still eating it.

Wow, I heard that same thing except it went:

"Hey guys, I made a big bunch of brownies but I only put a little bit of dog poop in there."

One little element can ruin an entire scene like a movie having just one F word and just one sex scene.

I`m gonna try Xenogears out nonetheless. I heard its a really fun and challenging RPG. If I find out it`s highly inapropriate I`ll be more careful about the games I choose. I just know I`ve played worse.

I have friends in youth group who own a PS2, and they recently purchased Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. They said it's awesome and I'm planning on getting the Xbox version.

I was also gonna suggest Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (which are Xbox games by the way), but thank God in Heaven you brought this up (that is unless you've already mentioned that you don't have an Xbox earlier).

Pokémon Emerald! =D

Really, though, it's a huge improvement over the other games in the series.

It probably wouldn't hold your interest for the entire summer but it's a fun diversion.

The Pokemon handheld franchise is probably no doubt more popular than all them other handheld games based on thier animes. You don't see a lot of Yu-gi-oh!, Duel Masters, Digimon, or Mega-Man game commercials out there. I don't own Pokemon games, but I've tried a few. I like them, but I know I've got to avoid addiction with certain ones.

Anyway, have you considered Dirge of Cerburus: Final Fantasy VII? It may or may not be an RPG, and it's a 3rd person shooter were you take control of FFVII's Vincent Valentine. Also starring Cait Sith.

I know, I started a thread for it awhile back called: "Final Fantasy VII: Armed and Actiony". Post your ideas there. And anime doesn`t make a game good. As a matter of fact, it ruins some.

Oh, well I just thought I should tell ya...Final Fantasy 3 is the same as Final Fantasy 6. FF3 was released for the SNES back in the day, and it was re-released with FF5 as FF6. So, if you've played FF6, you've played FF3. Just thought I'd mention, since you said in your first post that FF3 hadn't been released in America. ^_^

Hmm...As far as games go...I suggest you download an SNES emulator to your computer and try out the following:

>Seiken Densetsu 3: One of my favorites. This one will have you playing for a LONG time. Download it and you'll see why. You can find it at vimm.net.

>Mario RPG: Beautiful, and another favorite. This game is fun, creative, addictive, and has exceptionally good graphics for it's time. Also found at vimm.net.

>Earthbound: This game is fantastic. Seriously, it's a blast!! The graphics aren't exactly what you'd expect from a SNES game, but it is SO much fun! I highly suggest it to anyone. Also found at vimm.net.

Anyways, so those are just 3 of my favorites. Hope I helped! n_nv

I'd say Suikoden II, but it's 200$ online and you'll never find it in a store. Xenosaga Ep. 1 was a very good game. It's plot is almost too hard to understand to really get upset over. There's just one scene that you might not want to watch. PM me if you want to no more. Overall, I really liked Xenosaga but Ep. 2 was awful.

Xenogears is a cool game. Can't say much for the plot though. I'm not sure if it was trying to make a political statement or if it just wanted a good story.

Grandia II is an excellent RPG that's very underated. If you're interested, just PM me for more info on it.

Grandia II. That was a good play. I feel the need to play it through again after beating Grandia I and being halfway through Xtreme. The only problum I saw in the game was the religious themes which were very minor. Why?
Granas was not Jesus Christ or God. He was Granas. Valmar was not Satan. Valmar was Valmar. Therefore, Satan did not kil God. Valmar killed Granas. Fictional character entirely. Fake world, fake religion, fake gods. You can tell me that they represent God and Satan and I can agree with that, but they`re not actually them. We can continue this in my Grandia thread.
Don`t even get me started in Superstar Saga.......-_-

Golden Sun- i might consider buying that.
FFTA- Maybe some day in the future. I heard it wasn`t close to as good as FFT.

Xenogears- I had a choice. That or Star Ocean 2? I picked up So2.

Megaman X Command Mission: My best friend has that and he said I can borrow it once he beats it. Except he`s stuck misrebly on a mushroom boss that`s like an evil professor with 2 forms.

Unlimited saga: I haven`t heard one person come out and give a good rating for that game. I might rent it.

Oooh, the Golden Sun games are excellent. Very good! I love 'em..

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a VERY good game...I really enjoyed it, and I don't usually prefer strategy games. I would definitely reccomend those games. Can't say much for the others, as I haven't played 'em yet. Well, except for Superstar Saga, but you've already made it clear how you feel about that, so whatever. I still highly reccomend that you give Super Mario RPG a go, however. Fun times!
