I think the anime (except for Love Hina Again, which I've heard is a 2 hour fanservice fest) is somewhat tamer than the manga. . .nevertheless expect a LOT of fanservice, as it's basically a sex comedy. . .

EDIT: I haven't seen either anime nor manga, I'm just going on what I've heard from my friends and on otakuboards.

Having seen both the anime/OVA and read almost all the manga, here's my take on Love Hina.

First, I really like Love Hina. I like the characters and the storyline. Beneath the fanservice, its quite cute. The manga is 17+ and is a comedy. I disagree on it being a sex comedy. More of a romantic comedy.

Second, the manga is very fanservicey. The actual amount varies on the issue. A bit of language in the later issues. Almost as if TokyoPop changed translators.

Third, the anime has hardly any fanservice in it. This does change going into the later part of the series: Xmas, Spring and Love Hina Again. I wouldn't call Love Hina Again a 2 hour fanservice fest, but the amount has increased.

The question lies here: Do you mind seeing girls in their underwear? If you don't, the anime shouldn't pose any problem. The manga has implied nudity, so be warned.

Welcome to the boards. :jump:

About Love Hina: The anime is more appropriate and the manga is rated 17+ for a reason. The story is so good, though and it's one of the best mangas out there -great character development. It won an award for that very thing. Ken Akamatsu is just a very talented writer.

I've watched the entire anime series, the two specials and Love Hina Again. They're really funny. It's just a really funny show if you're not too caught up in the usual Japanese humor of boys running into girls at inopportune times.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
