To be honest here all the movies are great. A movie can still be good with bad acting and too much special effects. If you judge a movie by just that then you have totally missed the point of why these movies were created. A movie is made to tell a story. The actors just act out the story. Wether they are good or bad actors the story is still portrayed. But I guess I'm the kind of person that judges everything by storyline...like in games for example...but anyways...
The focus of Ep 1-3 is Anakin right? The events leading him to be found, trained as a Jedi and converting to the dark side. That's that main theme, just the Clone War and the love with Padme are just side stories that help add volume to the main story and show more details on the main theme. In a way these are necessary because without them all he has to say is...he was trained as a jedi then he just turned plain evil. Now that would be boring, but the special effects and acting good or bad have to be added. So regardless of how BAD you say the acting is or how there is too much or too less special effects...the main focus is to move the story.
With all that said I think Lucas has done very good at moving the story even though people may say the acting is bad. So give him a chance to finish strong and make the tie-in with Ep 4-6, So the story will come together and we can enjoy a full series of a compelling and awesome story that will be a classic for years to come even tho its new-old it still will be an extraordinary experience.
How often are these types of movies made anyways?...So why shoot it down?
And if I get flamed for this... It's just an opinion that I think should be taken into consideration when there is criticism.
Also...one thing I just thought of in the original series. They always said Anakin was the best starpilot in the galaxy, but where besides the car chase in Ep II has he shown that?......................

I would agree that they haven't really developed Anakin on-screen as much as I would have hoped they would. episode 1 was pretty much just "this is how we found Anakin" without much development of his character, then episode 2 jumps many years later and he's already gone through a lot of training and development. I think it would have been nice to have seen some stuff in-between, but I guess that's what all those books are for ^^. From what I've read about the new book and reviews of episode 3 it sounds like this one will show a good progression of Anakin's character towards his destiny as a sith lord. I can't wait for next friday!!

And in the original series, when the rebels make their run on the death star, Vader himself busts out with the TIE fighter and starts picking them off, even almost got Luke...

I've always been confused by US ratings. I don't understand how they work. You seem to have anime rated NR- (not rated) as well as TV series like 24 rated NR. What's up with that? And how did Lord of the Rings get away with PG-13, but Ice Age got a PG?

Shatterheart wrote:Heh. I wish I could. I work noon-10pm on Wednesday. No time for a nap, I leave work and head for the theater...I am going to have to make it on like 3 hours of sleep. I get to work with some attractive girls from work though. So all is not lost.
