No Totally Spies is not an anime. It just uses the facial expressions basically.

I don't think it's an anime either, it does have anime influences.

Well the way i see it, anime is from japan and cartoons from america... either way, their both animated features. i think the words just decide what's from america and what's from japan, you know?

I happen to like Totally Spies in a so bad it's good kind of way. It's cheesy and fun. Benu, if you don't want to offend anyone, why did you put "i hope no one does it awful!" in parenthesis? That was uncalled for.

Hey easy now, that wasn't that offensive. He's entitled to his opinion too, and parenthesis are the grammatically correct way to state your opinion.

Well, if that's the logic you're using, though, we should all tear down our art galleries since they're just shameless copies of anime/manga, too.

Yea Ink does have a point there. But we should try to make our own style within the anime stlye so it's not just a total rip off of the anime style. If you artists get what I'm saying. We should not make all our art the same thing if you get my drift. If all anime artists did that we would get such bland char. designs in anime.

Ashley, I know you are the mod, but I meant nothing offensive in my post and I dislike how you butt in when you have no business butting in. When Benu said "Totally Spies Is Baka! No offence if anyone likes it (i hope no one does it awful!)", I found that part about "I hope no one does it awful" to be an insult to people who like the series and the point could be made without saying that.

Again Ashley, you miss the point. I know that parenthesis are a grammatically correct way to state an opinion, but I was trying to point out to Benu that his point was disrespectful and rude. Whether or not the post is gramatically correct is irrelvant to my point.

How would you like it if someone said "Cowboy Bebop is Baka! No offence, but I hope nobody likes it becuase it stinks!" (that is basically what you said about Totally Spies, Benu). You wouldn't like that, would you? It's desrespectful to those that enjoy a series and people shouldn't be put down becuase they like a show.

Now back to the topic. I enjoy series that are silly and fun. Totally Spies doesn't have much of a plot, but the characters are fun and I found the show to be very enjoyable.

I agree with Ink as well... as I've mentioned in another thread, I'm all for "mixed-breed" animation. If you make homemade icecream with special ingredients, are you shamelessly copying Baskin Robins?

No, shes not a mod, she is an Admin/Founder...and you really should lose the attitude. You freaked for no reason....people bash anime all the time around here....everyonce in a while someone is gonna step on your toes...that does not give you the right to be rude. And yet again...as the owner and founder of CAA she does not have to answer to you...so mind your tounge around Ashley...your last post shows a lack of basic respect to the leader around here.

*rant*

I'm sorry, but I did not mean my post to be rude and I do not appricate it being taken that way. Yes, people are going to bash anime, but insulting someone who likes an anime is outright wrong and I found Benu's comment that told people that they shouldn't like Totally Spies to be insulting to anyone who likes the show. I am annoyed at how you and Ashley see nothing wrong in it.

BTW, I didn't freak for no reason. I freaked becuase Ashley didn't see anything wrong with the insulting comment and posted something that would encourage more people to insult people. But I also tried to write my comments in the nicest way possible and edited to try to keep them friendly. Also, I didn't tell Ashley to butt out to be rude, but because she said something in this post that was irrivelant to what I said and didn't need to be said.

Also, I'm annoyed at how every topic turns into an anime bashing topic. That is not intelligent discussion. That is madesss! It's ok to post opinions on WHY you don't like something, but outright bashing is wrong. That is how I feel anyway. Also, saying "I hope no one else likes this anime" is outright rude no matter how you cut it and I'm sorry you don't see it this way.

Now can we please get back on topic and can the banter? I did not want a huge argument to erupt just becuase I tried to POLIETLY comment on Benu's comment (which I found very insulting). Then I try to explain why I found it insulting to Ashley and again my post gets taken as rudeness (though I admit that it was a bit angrier before I edited it becuase I was tired of Ashley misunderstanding my posts).

*end rant*

Now to get back on topic. Which spy is your favorite in this show? I like Clover becuase she is jinx of the group. Stuff always happens to her.

I love forign animation. It's funny how people mistake this, Inspector Gadget, and Heathcliff for American shows when they are really French.

I find it odd that you love to start fights or problems but then are so "it wasent me" afterwards. Benu did not attack you or insult you at most he insulted the anime...so don't be so thinskinned.

"but I did not mean my post to be rude and I do not appricate it being taken that way"

I will be blunt...I don't care what you appricate...you flamed Benu...after yes, perhaps his statment was a flame...but if you spend any time on forums you realise that if you flame a flame what happens? A war...I have no issue with anything you said to Benu or anything except you feel you have the right to "set Ashley straight" or whatever....

"(though I admit that it was a bit angrier before I edited it becuase I was tired of Ashley misunderstanding my posts)."

Brian the second you get tired of Ashley or how she reads your post you know where the door is. I don't care if you agree with what she says or not...for you to "tell her how it is" is laughable. I hope i have made it quite clear...I have no issue with you asking Benu not to say what he said....everyone is entitled to an opinion...but when you but heads with the staff again and again on every thread you post on...there is somthing wrong. Realise there is an authority and work with it.

!hoa! chill out ALL of you! It's just a show - a cartoon! and I was only only asking if any of you liked it! it's a simple yes or no question! Ugh...*crash*- It's kinda lame to argue over a simple children's series.

Well...the argument had more to do with what Benu said than the show itself.

But!

It's time to get things back on topic! Let's continue the discussion. Totally Spies, an anime? Yes or no. What does everyone else think?

If we define anime to be Japanese animation, then it isn't. It's done in that sort of amerimanga style that I've seen cropping up now and again. Although that should have nothing to do with merits (or lack thereof) of the show itself. It's clearly been influenced by anime given the style, but it is also clearly North American. The show isn't really something I'm going to watch anyways.

*shrug* I remember once having trouble pinning down the Cybersix TV series. It seemed to be both European and Japanese stylistically. I eventually did some digging and found that the series was based on an Argentine comic, and the series was a joint Canadian-Japanese venture (animation done in Vancouver).
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I like Totally Spies; it's the type of show I watch, get up, get something out of the fridge, come back and it's pretty much the same stuff going on. Also, Shatterheart's Freddy and Jason is scaring me. :(

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Ok I'm Sorry for saying what I said but I didn't think it was gonna be a big deal. I've heard bashing from someone here who has a Problem with FLCL and has bashed it, I happen to love FLCL and I did not like the remarks the person had made but I did not make it a big deal. I was trying to be sarcastic also note the ( ) around the phrase. So sorry to the fans that like this show if I have offended you in some way shape or form. Please forgive me. Thank you
Benu

Oh, and it is not an anime. It just lacks what makes anime, anime.

NO.
Totally spies is not an anime.
The americans are just being stupid and trying to copy the idea since anime is taking over the world. The shows have nothing in common like real anime's do (no long story line) and they are AMERICAN you cant have an AMERICAN anime!!! *goes insane*
I didnt really read any of the previous posts but I had to put meh word in.
