The Soundtrack of Your Life

Postby Yeshua-Knight » Wed Apr 13, 2005 8:22 pm

If you had a soundtrack that you wanted to represent your life, what songs would be on it? They don't necessarily have to be songs that you like a lot, but songs that you think represent you or a part of you or even a phase of life that you went through, here's some of mine and they're not in any particular order either

Kansas - Carry on wayward son
Pete Stewart - Don't Underestimate
P.O.D. - SouthTown
Mortification - At war with war
Wedding Party - Battle Drums
Guardian - Psychedelic Runaway
Apologetix - Enter Samson (a parody of enter sandman by metallica)
Blur - Song 2
Extol - Valley of Silence
DC Talk - Jesus Freak
Whiteheart - Inside
Petra - He came, He saw, He conquered
Petra - Take me in

you get the idea, i'm curious to see what you guys come up with

Good heavens, a complete list would take way too long. But, I'm pretty sure it would have to include at least these:

"Bob Dylan's 115th Dream" Bob Dylan
"Frank's 2000-Inch TV" Weird Al
"Too Much To Dream (last night)" The Electric Prunes
"Animaniacs Theme"
"Sunshine Superman" Donovan
"Anything" PFR

Too true, I probably left about twenty songs off the list and forgot an even larger number. Music tastes tend to change over time too, several years back, my list probably would have been chock full of...eh...Backstreet Boys songs :red:

Soundtrack of my life

Postby Geirr » Sun Feb 01, 2009 5:38 pm

I'd like to say J.S. Bach's "The Goldberg Variations." (BWV 988)

I've often thought of it being something I'd like played at my own funeral.
I hold a great yearning to thank our Creator that in His ordering of the planets, the skies, of beautiful nature and the magnificence and dignity of people's spirits, that He as made a universe in which among other wonders has birthed this work, through a human agent.

"...[T]he work's elusive beauty is reinforced by this return to the Aria. [N]o such return can have a neutral Affekt. Its melody is made to stand out by what has gone on in the last five variations, and it is likely to appear wistful or nostalgic or subdued or resigned or sad, heard on its repeat as something coming to an end, the same notes but now final."
(Peter Williams)

The Columbia Masterworks recording of Glenn Gould in 1955 is a reference standard.

Hmm... Probably it'd go something like this..

"Orchid" by Black Sabbath
A beautiful instrumental. It opens into another song, so I guess you can call it the intro of my life.
"Dada" by Alice Cooper
Dada will be the second song.. First word I've said.
"Clown" by Korn
This is during my old school days where I was bullied.
"Thoughtless" by Korn
When I resented my life, really.
"Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden.
A period of my life I shall never live down. Basically, I became a bit of an atheist at one point after a lot of things happened in my life. Basically turned my back on religion.
"Changes" by Black Sabbath
This is where I start to embrace Religion again.
"Rock n' Roll" by Led Zeppelin
Where I was getting back into the groove. Started to express myself in lyrics.. My writing really improved.
"Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth
Basically where I am now. Nothing stands in the way of my alter ego.
"Tell All the People" by The Doors
But, don't be afraid of this person I am.. It's not me, I am still the old person I always was. So, tell all the people that you see, it's just me, and fallow me down.

Here's a classical version using a template I found online. I'll post a "normal" soundtrack later.

-Opening Credits: Overture to Rienzi - Richard Wagner, Rienzi

-Falling In Love: Sonate en fa dièse mineur (1903/4) - I. Allegro - Igor Stravinsky

-Breaking Up: Symphony #5 In C Minor, Op. 67 - 1. Allegro Con Brio - Ludwig van Beethoven

-Make Up: Tahiti Trot (Tea For Two) - Dmitri Shostakovich

-Secret Love: Liebesträume III. "O lieb" As-Dur - Franz Liszt

-Life's OK: Golliwog's Cakewalk - Claude Debussy

-Mental Breakdown: SQ Nr. 8 c-moll op.110 2. Allegro molto - Dmitri Shostakovich

-Driving Scene: Moscow-Cheryomushki Suite, Op. 105 - 1. A Spin Through Moscow - Dmitri Shostakovich

-Flashback: Was Gleicht Wohl Auf Erden - Carl Maria von Weber, Der Freischutz

-Happy Dance: Grand galop chromatique - Franz Liszt

-Regretting: Symphony No. 7 in A major, op. 92 - II. Allegretto - Ludwig van Beethoven

-Long Night Alone: Piano Sonata #14 In C Sharp Minor, Op. 27/2, "Moonlight" - 1. Adagio Sostenuto - Ludwig van Beethoven

-Final Battle: Messa da Requiem: Dies Irae - Guiseppe Verdi

-Death Scene: Siegfried's Funeral March - Richard Wagner, Gotterdammerung

-Final Ending: The Immolation Scene - Richard Wagner, Gotterdammerung

-End Credits: Piano Concerto #20 In D Minor, K 466 - 2. Romance - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
"To be a good listener, you must acquire a musical culture...you must be familiar with the history and development of music, you must listen...to receive music you have to open your ears and wait for the music, you must believe that it is something you need ...to listen is an effort, and just to hear has no merit. A duck hears also." - Igor Stravinsky

Just Let Go -by- Mae.
Though I don't have girlfriend or anything this is the perfect love song for me.

Stark Honesty -by- Discover America.
One of those funny ones, that sadly fit.

Late Again -by- MxPx.
Yup thats me.

Holiday -by- All Left Out.
This describes my outlook pretty well.

And the whole "Let It Happen" album by MxPx.

There's more but this is good for now.

I am convinced that many men who preach the gospel and love the Lord are really misunderstood. People make a “profession,â€
