Jade Empire getting Rave Reviews

Well, all of you X-box owners it’s time to get out our credit cards, now! ;)

This year X-box owners are already getting a healthy dose of gaming with Mercenaries, Republic Commando, Pyshonuats (April 19th), Bothers in Arms, Chaos Theory, and Doom 3. ..and now we have Jade Empire from Bioware!

This game has gotten 9.9/10 at IGN and 5/5 at GameSpy, and GameSpy has also done a Pile-On where the whole staff makes comments. Gamespot seemed the least impressed though, with a 8.4/10. Saying the game is great, but falls short of grabbing the attention of all audiences of gamers, like the game seemed set-up to do.

So, anyone here planning on picking up this game today or tomorrow?

I hadn't heard about it. So it's supposed to be that good, huh?

Apparently so, this is a very unique RPG title. It's set in an ancient land that's like an alternate reality of China. One of the biggest appeals of the game is the "choose your own adventure" style of gaming. Elements of the story change depending on whether your Male or Female, Good or Bad, and such. So in this game you have an active part in the story, where you just don't sit and watch two characters talk... you choose your character's responses (like in Knights of the Old Republic). Another cool aspect of the game is the fighting system, which is in real time and plays out like a simple "arcade fighting game". Yet, you have over 30 fighting styles to learn. Which is awesome.

Remember it's a mix of asian mythology so there is no good and evil per se.;) I don't remember what they called in the OXM review but it's basically passive aggressive sides. I was really thinking seriously about getting this awhile back, but the demo I played was extremely short and not that exciting so I've decided to wait and rent it.

Seriously going to recommend this one to our local game purchasing department. The more I read about it, the cooler it sounds. Oh, and with two choices, it's always Ying/Yang, Order/Chaos, Tiger/Dragon kind of thing. So.... yeah.
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.
