[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I'm just trying to get used to the fact that she's reading 'Japanese style' (ie, right to left). Sorry, a bit off topic.

BTW: I'm not asleep. :) Dialogue is an important part of any writing, and this was better than most I've seen. :thumb:

Heh... I didn't notice that. I read this and said, "No, she's not!" Then I looked closer and made a few "reading a book" gestures of my own, and realized... she IS! It just looked normal to me 'cuz the pages are turning the way I would turn them... but I'm facing the reader.

Yeah, so... not quite awake yet. The green tea caffeine hasn't kicked in completely yet.

Thanks oldphil. :) I didn't know you were reading my stuff. Glad to hear comments from an excellent poet as yourself.

Hi wolfie (I've decided Eire is too formal)! Hey, I'm changing my cute little kitty tomorrow, because it just isn't me. I thought it was cool how she read Japanese-style, since this is an anime forum. But, alas, I need my tough chick Chloe back. I'll have a Chloe, or some other brazen woman back as my avatar. Maybe I'll be like Shiroi and change my avatar every week. ;)

I actually had Hello Kitty here because I asked my mom to visit the site and she loves cats.

Cool! I like the Trinity avatar... I was considering changing mine to Lara Croft from the first Tomb Raider (haven't seen the 2nd one yet), but I just can't part with the wolf. And people might misunderstand Lara... I like Tomb Raider, for girl-power reasons. It's actually one of my motivators for finally taking karate. (I want to be able to defend myself against spear-wielding stone monkeys.)

Okay, now I have to confess that I didn't shut off the computer and go to bed when I said I would. *goes to commit self to Internet Addicts Anonymous*

t_n_c, I decided that you don't have enough to do these days. Nope, nope, you're not busy enough. I think you should write more on this story.

Actually, I'm being selfish again. :) And, I didn't want this thread to be lost forever in the annals of history...

Wolfie, you're so cute. I had so many edits on the previous chapters and now everyone's going to read my haphazard writing. I suppose, since I have so much free time these days, :eyebrow: I'll have to work on this.

You know you ought to talk to my mom. This is her favorite story of mine and she keeps bugging me to finish it also. I started working on something else, you know what it is too, and I got all caught up in those characters. Now, poor Gainey Beth will take on a third personality.

In a few days I'll have Chapter Nine up, I hope. sEEkers is now on the back burner. Which is okay for now. I have to go back over the outline anyway and do some research - boring stuff.

Thanks for kicking my little behind, Wolfie. This is the only place I call you that. It's kind of catchy. ;)

Okay my new revisions are inserted where they belong. The dialogue in Chapter Six: Secrets, and Chapter Seven: Graveyards, were the biggest changes. If you want to go back you'll find the story makes more sense later on. Thanks. :)

Chapter Nine

Postby true_noir_chloe » Sun Nov 16, 2003 11:26 am

Here's the first part of Chapter Nine.

Chapter Nine: A Slight Detour

This place was a giant birthday cake layer, all frosted with beautiful crème color and then garnished at the edges with flowered shrubs, pine, birch, ash and multi-colored petunias. The parking lot had more cars than I had ever seen gathered in one place. This was the mall; and I had always dreamed of coming to a mall.
Aunt Estelle was off parking the car. She didn’t want me walking too far so she left me here to wait. So I sat on this wooden bench, watching people of every height and color, wearing either beautiful outfits or just jeans and shirts, travel in and out of the sliding glass doors at this entrance.
Across from me a young man smoked a cigarette, its smoke every so often wafting over to my side and making me cough. His shirt had an insignia of Radio Shack on the chest, so he must be an employee here. His head hung down, hair sloppy and unkempt, with forearms on his thighs. A cigarette dangled at the end of his fingers at the edge of his knee. His whole body hung over like the day had only begun and he had to go back to the taskmasters inside after this moment of solace.
I liked watching people, wondering what they were thinking, wondering what their life was like, wondering what people thought when they saw me and if they ever really cared about things the way I seemed to always concern myself with. It was all confusing if I really thought any harder and so I looked back over at the smoking guy.
His body was in the same position and then he looked up at me, took a long drag from his cigarette, winked and then slouched back over with the cigarette dangling at the edge of his fingertips again.
I wonder where Aunt Estelle went. I needed to stop staring at people.
“Hey kid,â€

*contemplating* *thinking*
I *musing more* believe *last check* that she would run, yet the possibilities if she remains are so interesting. Oh, joyous indecision, I pray you, trouble not this author more.

On, I was going to say a less pertinent matter, but indeed 'tis very pertinent. As I was saying, on another matter, milady true noir,

you    . Verily, I'm astounded so few have commented on this tale.

now that the slightly archaic me has hit the sack, please keep it up! I love this story!!

Why thank you oh flying one, Icarus. I shall write more that you may partake of.... blah blah blah. I can only talk that way for a short while. :dizzy:

Ah, (pulling hair out) I need more hours in the day.

Thanks for reading my story. :) Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comments; but alas, she will stay and face the music. She needs to for us to progress to a turning point in the story.

BTW, Icarus did the missing chapter that's down for repairs affect your reading the story? I just put back up Chapter Seven: Graveyards, if you want to go back and read it.

[font=comic sans ms]That was one of the interesting things that I mentioned. But, selfishly, I'd hoped that she would run, thus prolonging the story  . And yet, climaxes/turning points are always good, but for those really bad ones where the hero dies in a horrific accident. ]

I hope you enjoy this slow-paced section again. This is a human interest and character driven novella, so I hope you are able to catch the emotion of a young girl going through a big change in her life. The climax is around the corner.

This is the rest of:

Chapter Nine: A Slight Detour

My heart quickened, pulsating around 100 beats a minute. I automatically got up, grabbing my crutches. Maybe if I ran into the mall he wouldn’t find me. He probably wanted to take me home. Maybe my momma found out I was with my aunt.
I stood for a minute. My dad and aunt were heading toward me. Aunt Estelle’s hands were still exaggerated as she looked to be doing most of the talking.
They stopped walking. I moved forward on my crutches, as if I could hear what they were saying by doing such a thing.
My dad now had the waving hands; he pointed to my aunt and then turned and stomped back toward his truck.
I was stuck in this position, held up by my crutches and watching. What was going on?
Aunt Estelle noticed me and waved big letting me know she was on her way. She ran for the last 20 feet up to me.
“Whoo,â€

Hi Remember me? ^_^

Just wanted to tell you how much I love your writing. Sorry I haven't been on. My PC is being worked on still (failed harddrive), so I am typing this from the public library. Hopefully, I will have my computer back soon. But in the meantime, I wanted to pop in and say hello...*BIG HUG*

This will be Chapter Ten: Junkyards, not titled, Daddy as I had earlier stated. Either I'm dawdling or I just wanted to lengthen the story. I'm not really sure. This is a work in progress. I know it could be much better. I have a lot of editing to do, but I told someone I would bump this up so they could read it, so I figure I'll place another sloppy chapter up and hope someone might enjoy what I've placed here. ^_^ Have a happy new year and I hope you like what I've written.

Chapter Ten: The Junkyard

Jarret Cummings home sat at the back of a cul-de-sac. Al’s Junkyard was next door and Mr. Cummings owned half the company. The other half was his father’s, Al Cummings.
Mr. Al Cummings had two ugly dogs, black and always barking; they were Rottweilers. They barked at my aunt’s rental car as soon as she pulled up. They should’ve been kept on leashes and had even attacked a man last year. But, Mr. Cummings paid his fine and then after chaining them up for a short while paid no attention to the law and let them roam free again.
I hoped Mr. Cummings came out soon and reigned in his obnoxious puppies.
My aunt turned to me, with a sliver of a grin, and then honked the horn real loud. The dogs backed away for a second, ears perked up and startled. However, once they figured out the horn was our clever diversion they started back to barking.
“Hope it will at least get Mr. Cummings attention….â€

You say You love me even still.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Drat the ceiling. :jump:

If it gets better edited (which I'll *grudgingly* admit it could), it would be (select adjective: stellar; great; awesome; incredible) then. No rush, though.

I am glad you started writing this again ^_^ this is such a wonderful story. Of course, I am really looking forward to finding out whats gonna happen once Beth gets to California. She is going to make it there, isn't she?? *fidgets*

"Why do people not notice until they lose it?
What it is that's truly important...
Although I can't afford to forgive even myself,
Because you were there,
I was able to be myself (Natural).
I want to be honest...I want to be kind...
I want to be the adult I once (in my childhood) longed to be.
I go on fighting against the heart to run away...
I go on fighting against that invisible something!"

Since I probably won't add any more to this I'll let you know, Iesu, she makes it to Cali - I think. XD Someone may have to die first. I'm joking... or am I? *mwahahaha* I'll let this story die soon; I just bumped it for someone to look at.

Icarus, thanks for telling me it needs editing. I'll grab it and fix it later. I still need to do a read of the entire thing again and I've been putting that off. I'm really tired today. -_- <---- This is what my eyes look like right now.

Thanks for reading, as always. ^^ Talk to you guys later.

I just read some of your story, Chloe. I love the dialect. It's very well done. Sorry, I couldn't read it all right now, it's really long, but from what I read it rocks. ^^ I wouldn't be surprised if it gets published one day. Thanks for bumping it up for me.

Ah, finally! :jump: I've been waiting for more of this wonderful story... It's like a feast after a famine. You *will* finish this story, won't you? *looks at t_n_c with puppy-dog eyes* :lick:

I might. *evil grin*

Actually, I wrote the second half of Chapter Ten, but it needs some work - there's a scene with the evil hounds *mwahahaha*. I may post it in a day or two. Thanks Kesshin for trying to read this long story.
Wolfie, as always, you're so cool. Thanks for liking my story and I will be talking to you all later. God bless and happy new year!
