Metal Gear Solid 4 Major Spoilers for all past MG games

Postby Stephen » Sun Apr 03, 2005 4:24 pm

I just got done reading over on the ign boards about possible stuff for MG4. First I will state the only things we do know.

1.Kojima will not be directing, he will be helping out though.
2.MG3 was not all Kojima and it ended up being great
3.A theme has been given by Kojima, "No place to hide"

My guess is that it will complete the story of MG2. We will learn of Olgas child...Raiden and Snakes future. Liquid/Ocelot. Kojima also has said he wants to bring in Meryl and Otacon at some point. (Sorry to rain on the parades of all the guys who were so sure Meryl died, if you get the Document of MG2 you can read that she is in fact alive) I have the feeling that Snake will probably die in this game...just the way the last few games have went. I think someone will end up taking Snakes place. I just really hope it is not Raiden. Another odd fact, if you read the In The Darkness of Shadow Moses...someone broke Naiomi out of prison...Snake? Maybe even Fox? What does everyone else want to see in part 4?

I hope MG takes nothing from RE. No offense to either game...but there doing great on there own. I was reading somewhere and someone was saying they hope they do the cinema button hits in MG4...I hope not. MG did not need to copy anyone to get where they are....and that can remain true. Plus the cinemas in MG are suposed to be movie-like and stuff...not tensed out button mashing. I just want them to finish there story they started in MG2...its gonna suck if they leave it where it is. Too many questions have yet to be answered.

They are very different products really. RE4 is being hailed as the best game in quite some time from most I hear talk about it. I have not played it...but I am looking forward to it. Metal Gear really is a jewel in its own genre. I have heard people say the shenmu style cinema button presses got annoying in RE4. I liked MG because of the long cinemas.

I will say this. I have not played a single minute of an MG game, BUT I have not only watched Shatterheart in his eager fanboy hood play through the first stages of MG2, I've also been kept up to date on all the stories from the original NES. Thus, while not an MG gamer myself....I do care about what they put into these games because at least to a degree, I care about the characters. I would like to see what ol' Solid Bobsnake says happen--answer some of the unanswered. But if Otacon shows up in a fairy costume....I think I'm gonna puke. ;)

Wow, Volt actually dissed an RE game. I'm shocked. =P

I haven't played RE4 yet, as it's not on the top of my list at the moment.... but I am looking foward to it. (I like hard, challenging games.)

For Metal Gear... I haven't played a single MG game since MGS 1..... I need to catch up. =P

I hate to keep this thread off-topic.... but I'm dying to know... does RE4 COMPLTELY ignore what happens in the future between Chris vs. Wesker? Considering the spectacular ending to CVX, it doesn't seem like they could just throw so much plot potential away?

Volt wrote:OutBreak was a disspointment too :shady: fun, but dissapointing. RE4 is too far off. For a standalone or a spin-off it's awesome. But RE4 as a RESIDENT EVIL game sucked. It changed everything and while we were Busy being entertained and drooling at the awesomeness RE4 slowly destroyed everything RE had going and also did things that didn't make sense.

Oh crap, I did it again. I took this topic to a completely different place. sorry  Shatter or Ash feel free to seperate these posts.

Dude I just read that in Outbreak Second Mission, Volume, whatever it's called STILL doesn't support voice. Outbreak was...ok except for the fact that you couldn't talked to people and only had a few preset phrases! That's so inexcusable for an online puzzle solving survival game. I guess Capcom in their divine wisdom though it would be too easy if you were able to just say "go get the celestial jade statue in the hidden cupboard and bring it over here" over saying "lets go!"

No place to hide huh... Sounds interesting I agree that idea has alot of potential in a Metal Gear game. And yes I bet Olga's child will play a big part in this game. I just wonder how they're going to wrap the Patriots deal up.

Anyway unfortunately MGS4 is looking like it would make a good ending point for the Solid series. Solid that is not Metal Gear, MG is forever.;) They could deffinetly play around with it without Kojima at the forefront. Liquid in Desert Storm? Gray Fox's Missions? Foxhound scenarios?

What exactly do you mean "not all Kojima"?

So hes keeping to his word about not directing another metal gear..good..and bad...depends.

The biggest problem I had with MGS2 is that of the enviroments....I mean they were well made but I saw the same place WAY too many times.

It prolly wont be Raiden replacing Snake as he has a kid..tho its not far from happening..And everyone hates Raiden WHY!?

I think the next Metal Gear will be about the Patriots..in fact..Im about 99.9% sure of this...I mean was I the only one who was freaked out by The Patriots begin dead...for a 100 freakin years!

I should also say that perhaps some of these things will be anounced in
AC!D.

Of course it will be about the Patriots we were left with a cliff hanger ending. And I don't think they're really all controlling the world from back in time. Those were maybe just past Patriots names and the current members weren't even on the disc. Or better yet I think it's likely they don't exist anymore at all as an actual group of people. Just a feeling I have.

AC!D is already out now but this is what I understand about AC!D. The story is even wierder than MGS2, the main character is not exactly Snake, it's in 2013 in South Africa in some research plant. It doesn't actually fit in the MGS timeline at all hence the totally different name.

If i had to guess Raiden will play little or no part as Kojima knows how whiney the fans got about it. More then likely, Snake will at some point become Big Boss, or break the chain. Olgas child will play a small part. I think Meryl might play another part as well.
