Okay, here it is. I hope y'all enjoy it.

This feeling lingers and
my flesh burns
I fall for you into this
touch my face, hold my hand
your kiss remains
listen as I sing of life

Show you are here for me
and that you will never leave
close my eyes when I sleep
my chest rises as I breathe
all this in

I wonder if I should stop
loving you and love myself
and as your touch lingers
I fall asleep

That's it. When I figure out how to put the music down on paper instead of having it in my head, I may post that.

Ooh, very... Hmm, what's the word... "Intense," I think. Can't wait to hear what sort of tune it's set to.

Oh, and I'm afraid I'm a VERY self-taught guitar player. Could you define "strum or pick pattern" please?

Well for the verses you just do 1&2&3&4& on the third, fifth, and seventh frets of the sixth string and go up on the &. Then for the break you just do an e-type bar chord on the same frets using that same strum pattern. If I can ever get my guitar tuned right, I want to try it in drop d tuning. And crap I gotta go. I'll try explaining pick patterns tomorrow. If you read this whole thing you should know what a strum pattern is.

SOrry it's taken me so long to reply. The song is awesome, Rachel. I too am a very basic guitar pattern so I either do the one pattern I was taught by a friend, the one I vaguely remember from a website or make it up as I go along ;) . Nice avatar, too, by the way. :thumb:

Thanks, CreatureArt. The song actually started out as a poem I wrote but I changed a few words and added some music to it.
I like my avatar too.

No problem.
It started out as a poem? That's cool. It's awesome when you can fit words to music.

Well I wrote some last night...Here they be for ya'll.

A part of me died.
A part of me bled.
A piece of wood stained crimson red.

My love displayed through a broken body.
Peirced the heart.

My soul cries for you.
Beaten to the breaking point.
Lost without hope.
The walls falling in on you.
I lost my life for you.

And that's it. Hope you'se guys and gals likes it.

Here's another one that isn't really seriuos or anything.

I wish I could sing.
Oh how I long to scream.
Play punk and sound real mean.

All my verse would be angry.
Never happy, nor crazy.
No sappy love songs.
Just angry venting.

I wish I could play bass.
And sing songs of antiestablishmentarism.
And a word to with that besides prism and cataclysm.

But alas that's not where my talent lies.
So I'll have to be content with making songs of chocolate mint.
And how God has blessed me with stuff and things like that.

And that is the song...Not nearly as crazy as some that I've written but it's pretty lighthearted still.

About two days behind the times, but I LOVE that one, Dude! :thumb:

(one of these days I might get that song of my own I was talking about finally finished)

I agree with Blitzkreig. :thumb: They both rock.
That first one really struck me, though. It really conveyed the sacrifice of Jesus's love and made it real again to me. Sometimes I can hear things over and over so often that I find it hard to deeply feel their truths again. That brought it back again, so thank you. I'm going to go re-read it.

I have one I've been working on...

_________(A)______(G)__________(D)
May your praise--- echo around the mountain.
_________(A)______(G)__________(D)
May your praise--- carry across the seas.
_________(A)______(G)__________(D)
May your praise--- reverberate over the hills
_____(F)_____(D)____________(A)
That all may know you are my King.

It's a praise song originally written on the piano and I've tried to set it to guitar chords :) .

Neato...Sounds like one that'd be song during the chapel time at a christian camp. Is that all or do you have any more?

Thanks, TD! That's what it seems aimed for: praise/ worship.
I'm working on some others but they don't have words yet :) . They're mostly just strumming patterns. I've been taught a little bit of chord theory at school and now I have a some more keys to play around with, so there should be more soon :) ).

That's kind of the opposite of me CA...I just write the lyrics...I'm not skilled enough to come up with the music...Though I'll sing it out if I can think of a way of making it neato sounding. You should try and come up with more stuff while your on your trip.

Writting music is hard, isn't it? I've been writting lyrics for years now, but I only started trying to work on music about a year ago. That's why my songs tend to take so long to get done

Yeah it is...I can't read music and don't have a whole lot of ability on instruments so I only write the lyrics...I can write tabs for bass guitar though. I'd like to put my stuff to music sometime though...

Lol - I just read your suggestion to write some songs while I was away - and I already have! The first one is a bit of nonsense in order to kill some time on the plane (eek. 11 hours in cramped seats really does things to your song-writing ability ;) ). In warning, there's not much of a sense of rythm, or rhyme (sp?) or... anything, really, but I hope it proves amusing. :P . It has turned out to be a largish post so I'll post the other song a bit later :) .

THE CHICKEN SONG

Chickens is, as chickens does
and dey eat a lot of wheat
so I don't know what dat means.

Some of dem crow and the others I dunno
but they all lay eggs
and I know dat dat's true.

Oh Chicken! Hey, hey, Chicken.
What a horrible hard life you lead!
You sit on dem eggs to find out dey're a lizards
and theres not really much you can do.

Dey say not to carry too many eggs
In just one basket alone
But I say to dem, den what happens when
it takes 90 baskets and 4 days to get home?

Oh Chicken! Hey, hey, Chicken.
What a horrible hard life you lead!
You canot take a step
without jutting forward your neck
just like dem pigeon birds do.

Oh Chicken! Hey, hey, Chicken.
What a horrible hard life you lead!
Here, in consolation, I'll throw you a handful of see----eee---eed!

Inspiring! That was grammy potential! I would post my song "The One Minute Long Song." But I can't remember where I put it. It's about a song being one minute long but it ends up being about 3 or 4 actually.

Lol - thanks guys. You should post your funny songs up here, too. :) . Silly, random songs are so fun. . That one minute song sounds cool, too. .

Hmm.... I'm supposed to be helping out with my Dad's 60th birthday and am stealing a quick break on CAA before I'm called back to slavery again... so I'll try and write a quick random song on the spot about cake.

SLAVERY

Cake is heaven, cake is good,
you know you like cake and it's just as you should.
If you have no craving at all for some cake
then I'll throw you right into a lake.... oh~!!!!!

Cake is random, cake is sweet,
it's something everyone wants to eat,
oh it is sacred and extemerly nice,
especially with the topping of ice.....ing!

The only one problem with cake,
is the terrible great stomach ache.
That you get when you eat too sugeration
so I guess cake should be in moderation.

- well, the glove of challenge has been thrown down. It's your turn to write a song on the spot about... anything! . Enjoy!

Ohh! If somebody shaved my head...
They'd find themselves dead.
I couldn't live with no hair.
Niether could they live,
Cuz I'd throw them to a bear.

Oh how I love my golden locks.
They just rox!
And if I should ever find myself without hair,
I'd have to commit seppuku!

Hows that for an on the spot one?

I've never been one to resist a challenge.

Word up my homies
I think I have a disease
from eating too much cheese
would you kill me please

I've got an affliction
that affects my diction
don't go in the kitchen
there's been a lot of retchin'

You see what I mean
I really hate beans
they make me green
kind of like eggs & ham

that last line didn't rhyme
I think it's my time
to take my meds
and stop going in the kitchen
and wash my Keds.

*bows gracefully* thank you all.

LOL - awesome songs, everyone. Very good for on the spot song-writing. All right.. how about a little game where we each suggest a subject, and the person below us writes a song on it? It doesn't have to be funny, it can be serious. I'm not suggesting it only as an exercise for fun, but also to improve songwriting skills. I figure that like most things, you get better with practice.

I'll put a word here as a suggestion, but if you don't want to write and just talk instead, feel free. :) .

Jesus Freak (see if you can come close to the leetness that is the original ;) ).

Would you die for me?
Lay down your life for me?
When they put the gun to your head,
Will you give me up?

Will you be a Jesus Freak?
Would you bleed to be free?
Lay down your rights and family
Just to live for me?

Christ died to set us free.
But we just live in self imposed agony.
When thousands of others die daily.
Living to be a Jesus Freak.

Well there...What do you guys think...It was kind of on the spot...

How about the next person right a song that has something to do with "ex-nihilo" from nothing nothing comes.

That's awesome, That Dude. I really like it. It'd be awesome to put to music. The ideas and the challenge presented is very stirring and passionate. Excellent.

Argh.. as soon as I get on CAA I have to get off and go to bed, it seems. I've had a huge week - my Dad's 60th, a Christian girls conference and work. So just a quick hi before I go to bed: I'll do my best to be on tomorrow morning.
