Hair dye/cosplay question

Postby Debitt » Thu Mar 31, 2005 6:44 pm

Okay...so it has more to do with hair dye than cosplay. ^^; But anyways...

I plan to colo my hair to math my cosplay costumes at this year's Anime Expo. However, I have no idea how I'm supposed to go from a purple color to a bright pink in the span of about 6-8 hours. =/ I'd really like to avoid wigs (expensive) and spray hair coloring (messy and icky looking), but other than that, I have NO idea what I want to do or how to go about doing it.

So, does anyone have any ideas? Suggestions for temporary hair color that'll look decent in your stereotypical dark colored hair? ^_^; Any help at all would be much appreciated.

You could always make wigs from different-colored cheap pom poms that they sometimes leave around in college games. But that would look ugly.

I thought you were cosplaying as yourself! With a big sword through the back!

I've never used it, but Hot Topic and such sell two week hair colors. That would probably be a step up from the terrible spray on garbage. I have no idea how well they work, and I'm not really sure there's much hope (without frying your hair) of getting hair as dark as your to be pink sans a wig. That's all I can really think of. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think you'd be better off going pink first, and then doing purple, if only for the reason that purple is typically a darker color than pink. Although, what do I know? I've never colored my hair.

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. ^_^ thanks for the help everyone. I've decided I'm gonna go cheap and just streak my hair one day and put the darker dye over it the second day. ( ..) Unfortunately, I don't think I can avoid using a wig for my Kan-chan costume. <.<; oh well.
