Floor hockey!

Postby Cedahlia » Thu Mar 10, 2005 7:42 pm

We just started a unit on floor hockey in gym, and I must say that it's my favorite sport we've done in gym so far.
My gym teacher yells alot, and it makes me nervous, so I was hesitant at first, but now I am actually *gasp* contributing to the team! Anyone else enjoy floor hockey? ^_^

Floor hockey is one of the most popular sports in seminary. My team went undefeated in the tournament last semester, and that's without any Canadians. Our gym floor is really messed up though, so the puck bounces a lot, and it takes a toll on my feet (I play shoeless).

Um, stupid question here but what's floor hockey? REAL hockey isn't even that popular here (go figure :eyeroll: ) but I'm guessing maybe you use a waxed floor and socks?

The way we played it, it was kind of like a cross between ice hockey and field hockey. We used the gymnasium and a rubber ball for the puck. And no roller skates, thankfully. We just ran around. Still, it's pretty fun.

You pretty much just run around on the gym floor. The rules are the same, but no skating.

Wow, it's more popular than I thought. =D The difference between field hockey and floor hockey is that you can use both sides of the stick to hit the ball.

Whoa, you're only supposed to use one side in regular? I guess I blame my ignorance of hockey on my state's unspoken motto of "hockey = wrestling on ice"

You aren't allowed to use both sides in field hockey? Weird. What if you're left handed?
