When I first saw the title of the thread, I thought you were talking about some new spyware/virus hybrid and figured I should check it out right away!

But that does sound like quite the computer, especially for a laptop -- I figured one would only find that kind of configuration in a desktop. :thumb:

The thing about those gaming laptops is that the battery life is going to be extemely short, it's going to be super heavy, and in my opinion usually overpriced.

There was a time when I thought that those premium gaming PCs were awesome, but realistically, I can't see myself getting one (much less being able to afford one).

Thats why they call them desktop replacments. Those machines arn't intended to be used by heavy travelers. You move them and then set them up. The idea is to have a computer that is mobile yet doesn't sacrifice on preformance. The biggest thing is having a mobile moniter. The machines
heavier but it screams. At most you would need to bring along an external mouse (or mabye a keyboard)

Laptops are just plain cool. I guess part of my love for them comes from my dad. His motto goes something like: "If it aint broke there must be some way to make it better" My motto: "If it aint broke DON'T MESS WITH IT"

With a laptop there aint no way to mess it up. Less modularity is more stability, and as a plus its portable.

i see no point in gaming laptops.

i perfer the computers at
http://www.cyberpowerinc.com

custom made, and their prices are really good! I can get a good gaming system for around $2,000-3,000

Alienware makes the best gaming machines, Desktop and Laptop, period. Price is good for what you get. And it will scream past any other machine.

http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm
http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/Default.asp
http://www.voodoopc.com/

the first 2 are companies for custom made computers. Voodoo PC is like... a company that is pretty much very customizable as well

all 3 of those companies are MUCH better than alienware

Voodoo is cool. But I hate to break it to ya dude, but Alienware is like the preffered gaming rig. I do like that voodoo has AMD-64 based laptops, however they don't come with Radeon X800 256 meg cards like Alienware. Alienware has a better Intel based system. If you have to have AMDs 64 chip then Voodoo is better.

any why would you want an intel system when gaming? AMD is always better for gaming

They must have changed the options since I was there last. I wasn't aware Voodoo's AMD-64 system was avalible with a 256 card. Cool. If that is the case then that would probobly be the gaming rig I would buy. However right now in my life I am going for Toshiba's Protege m200.

Forgive me but I have heard so much great stuff about Alienware (particularly from my dad whom I trust) I have a bit of an affection for there PC's. Not to mention they look really cool.
