Mozilla woes

Postby Arnobius » Tue Feb 08, 2005 6:11 pm

ANyone notice the bit in the news about Mozilla having a security problem with a feature that allows web addresses to be posted in foreign fonts.

Good reminder not to be complacent just because you're not using IE (or, in a more philisophical sense, Windows in general). Never know what some clown will decide to attack...

Ironically, because IE is so outmoded, it's *not* vulnerable to this particular attack (it's just vulnerable to everything else).

The surest workaround is to type in URLs out of E-mail, particularly (safest) or cut and paste them in something that will show unusual characters before putting it in the URL box (mostly safe).

I imagine there will be IDN codepage restrictions in upcoding versions.
