Blah ON THEM.....wah....
Mmy-sama wrote:I remember when I was in middle school, I kinda liked pokemon but then everyone started hating it for no reason (I think they found it to be too childish). After that I started being obsessed, partly to spite them, partly becuase it was the only anime related thing available at the time. Manga has never been too popular at my school. I ALWAYS bring manga to school, but generally read it in private. Whenever someone sees me reading it the immediately think its porn. Usually what I read is sugary pretty shoujo so it'll be embarassing for a guy to read it. thats why I don't like it when people try to look at what I'm reading.

But times have changed. I am on a crusade- a crusade to bring my anime/manga to the masses (if you could call them that) of my high school! I proudly bring my W-Juliet and Inuyasha mangas to school, and those who stare get a wonderfully informative explanation about manga (after being beaten over the head for staring, of course). Now, there are at least five people in my high school who actually follow an anime/manga series. I'm so proud!
More Manga for all!
Indigo_Eyes wrote:Wow! You seem to be pretty like me! Live in Florida (though I'm in the northern part), go to a small private school (mine's Christian though ^^)with about 150 high-schoolers, barely anybody knows about manga or anime (except for pokemon-I think most everybody in my area at least knows of that).... But thankfully my main group of friends that I hang out with like manga (there's four of us together).
Indigo_Eyes wrote:Unlike you, VioletEyedCat, I'm pretty low key about manga. I don't bring it to school, and it feels weird to talk about it there even with my friends sometimes. I encourage you for your efforts and courage though
VioletEyedCat wrote:Many thanks! Though probably the only reason I'm so outspoken about it is because I'm considered slightly insane by everyone in my high school. The scary thing is- I'm proud of it!
I'm a demon worshipper to the Christians at my school for reading manga.

I told her, "It's the same as movies. There are bad movies, but that doesn't make all movies bad. There are bad anime, but that doesn't make all anime bad."
That pretty much made her stop.

So we don't draw anime in her class, but she does recognize it as an art form, and thats very nice. I'm lucky to have upperclassmen that introduced her to it before before me XD
