A Square Smash Brothers

Postby Hitokiri » Tue Jan 25, 2005 11:26 am

Me and my friends created a list ( don't have it) of a Super Smash Bros-esque Square game featuring characters from the many Final Fantasy Games as well as XenoGears, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve, and some others but I forget.

Any ideas on that?

Since I'm going to assume you're going to work directly off Square and not Square-Enix (thus ruling out Dragon Warrior and Star Ocean), I'll give you a couple of more Squaresoft titles.

Chrono Trigger/Cross/Radical Dreamers

Brave Fencer Musashi

Vagrant Story

Parasite Eve

That's all I can think of.

Honestly, I'd rather see the next Smash Bros. game contain Sega characters as well as Nintendo. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dynamite Headdy, Vectorman, someone from Phantasy Star, Kid Chameleon, etc.

Well the fighting game Ehrgeiz for the PS1 had Cloud, Tifa, Vincent, and Sephiroth as playable characters. That's the closest thing they've ever done to a fighting game with Square characters in it.

Xenosaga wouldn't work, for it was made by Namco, not Squenix.

So, does anyone want to speculate on a Square-themed game loosely based on the SSBM engine? Characters and their respective abilities, maybe?

Rai

EDIT: Oh, you said XenoGears. My bad. I don't know who did that. I think it's Square. Don't mind the Raiden.

Yeah, Ehrgeiz is the only thing I can think of. It was a pretty fun game, too. Your idea sounds pretty cool though. Just as long as it's better than Onimusha Blade Warriors...

Funny thing when I saw Onimusha.

I created a character for my manga awhile back before I knew how to create words in Japanese. I put "spirit" and something together and I got Onimusha. After I started the manga, I found out there was actually a Onimusha game. I was surprised and exicted that I learned to do that.

Kefka of course, and that purple octopus from FF VI.. maybe Terra.

Off topic:
They're making a Shonen Jump SSB type game.. will have Goku, Naruto, Bobo Bobobo, and Luffy at least.. the gameplay video I saw had some other characters in there.. but I wasn't sure if they were playable. (It's for the Nintendo DS if you're wondering.. and developed by Nintendo)

I once wrote a draft for an RPG that started off with a group of rebels on a mission to blow up a reactor run by an evil empire... complete with a robot boss battle, and a timed mission to get out. Then I played FF7......

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dynamite Headdy, Vectorman, someone from Phantasy Star, Kid Chameleon, etc.

Maybe the SEGA characters, but the others, sorry, there's absolutely no way those'll happen. It's more to deal with the publishers and exclusiveness of titles which is why SEGA hasn't put any guys in SSB yet.

Yesss, I'm getting that one, but I have to know if Shaman King'll be in it. The four you mentioned are the only ones that've shown up (Shaman King is Jump, right?).
Hopefully you'll get to play as Zolo, too. :D

I've made stories with things like floating islands and people with wings, then Namco used telepathy to get into my mind and steal my ideas. >:(

Once I made a book with paper and pencil about a 2 boys who watch they`re hometwn get destroyed and see their parents die and then 10 years later become a Rebel team and overthrow an Evil Emperor named GARLAND and his son FARIS.

Then I played FF1/5/9.
