why not use MYIE2?? it's better than IE but still familiar for IE users.

http://www.myie2.com/html_en/home.htm

and according to that site it's now known as Maxthon. But anyway...I use this browser for things mozilla won't work with. It's quite nice. :)

Netscape 7 is based on Mozilla, which is what Firefox is based on. Firefox != Mozilla, and therefore != Netscape. Netscape is closer to Mozilla than it is to Firefox, and Firefox and Mozilla are different enough from each other to make that distinction. The only thing Netscape and Firefox have in common is the fact that they both use Gecko. On the other hand, Netscape and Mozilla look extremely similar.

Okay, no Firefox, no IE. Netscape really isn't that great.

Personally, I'd introduce her to the world's second best browser (after lynx), Opera.

It goes:
1: lynx
2: Opera
3: Firefox
4: Safari
...

Opera actually does quite well with compatibility. I've run across more sites that looked wrong in Firefox than looked wrong in Opera. (In fact, gmail is just about the only site I know of that doesn't work in Opera.)

w3m > lynx. I used both, and w3m is superior.

Mozillar based browsers are memory hogs.
IE has... problems. Many problems.
Opera has banners.
Never used Safari before.

I'd just go with FireFox for graphical sites and w3m if it doesn't need pictures. Most sites don't need pictures, so why not.
