The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

You can buy from animenation.com and amazon.com (if you know what to look for before hand). There is a discount anime DVD store ( can't remember the URL). And anmaniacs which is a store under question in another thread.

....and questionable legality. http://www.bestbuy.com has some good prices and a good selection, but their prices have been getting higher as of late. http://www.gamestop.com has a small selection of anime, but decent prices. http://www.amazon.com has some anime, but their prices aren't the best (or the worst). http://www.rightstuf.com sells and produces anime and sometimes has some good sales (not sure about their prices, but they have to be better than Suncoast. I do know that they are a legit company with a good reputation, however).

Suncoast is ghetto because of their astronomical prices. i agree that best buy, and also circuit city aswell, have dececnt selection and ok prices. a very good places to buy anime with sweet deals is http://www.ebgames.com ( i just got an anime from there for really cheap and they shipped it very quickly; i was pleased) another place is http://www.animekrazy.com i ordered 2 more anime from there and i am hoping to get them by saturday. anime krazy has a HUGE selection and there prices are the best so far; usually 10.99 for movies and volume dvds and 32.99 for most COMPLETE COLLECTIONS. I'd cehck it out. :thumb:

Any place with prices that good and $32.99 complete collections is most likely selling bootlegs. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

http://www.half.com and http://www.ebay.com are both reputable companies, but some of the sellers that sell stuff on those sites are not. BTW, I read about this info from sites like http://www.animenewsnetwork.com and I know what I am talking about. If you see a 26 episode complete collection of an anime for that cheap, it is most likely a bootleg, especially if it is less than 6-8 discs, though some legit 26 episodes anime collections are on 4 DVDs (like the Slayers TV series, Fruits Basket, and Record of Lodoss War TV, but those are all $90-160 dollars for all of the series, though Fruits Basket isn't in a set yet. All of the Fruits Basket DVDs are out in the US, though). I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I'm just telling you the truth about these places.

Thats funny...considering most the anime on ebay is from places just like Animeniacs...The Iria I bought from Ebay happens to be the same one on Animeniacs...interesting.... Anyway I gave my 2 cents as far as a good place to get anime...if you don't want to shop there fine. I think people are just mad that they spent way to much for there anime. *eye roll*

Shatterheart, look at this paragraph again. I said that ebay is a reputable company and that some of the sellers there are NOT reputable. Nowhere in this paragraph says anything about me buying anime on ebay. BTW, I DON'T buy anime on ebay or half.com becuse many of the sellers are not reputable.

Maybe I should spell it out for you since you tend to get on my case every time you don't understand something:

Ebay is a reputable company.

This means Ebay a legit company.

Some of the sellers of anime on Ebay are not reputable.

This means some of the sellers of anime on Ebay are not legit.

I don't buy anime on Ebay becuase some of the sellers of anime are not legit.

Is this clear?

Next time you have an issue with something I say, Shatterheart, would you please send me a PM instead of posting in it the boards? I'm not telling you to do this, I'm asking you. I don't mean to get on your bad side, but I still manage to do it anyway and, personally, I think you are handling it the wrong way. If you reply to be outside of PMs in this manner, you interrupt the topic and only manage to make me angry. If you reply in PM, we can talk about this privately becuase that is how I feel it should be handled.

Also, just becuase I said Ebay is a reputable company doesn't mean I'm recommending them. In fact, saying many sellers on Ebay are NOT reputable like I did should be a strike against them. In other words, I DON'T recommend ebay for anime. Just becuase I mentioned Ebay doesn't mean I recommended them.

Amazon.com for me, reliable, has fairly good deals (sometimes real good deals), and has a large stock of popular animes.

I almost always buy my anime at AnimeNation mostly becuase it has a very good selection and delivers quite quickly. But also its one of the few places you can be sure isnt selling pirated anime, and it accepts paypal as payment too :thumb:

I think that great plces to buy animes here in Florida are Game Zone (1032 Beaunaventura BLVD Kissimmee, FL 34743)phone (407) 348-GAME if you live in florida and haven't being there you should go they have video games, posters, new release anime from Japan, new arrevel animes for America, game cards, collection cards from different animes, wallscrolls, mngas, toys, pins, and many other cool stuff. Blockbuster (u can rent and buy anime stuff), Best Buy chep prices for animes (^.~ that's where I shop), Walden books (great store to buy mangas ^.~ I buy lots of mangas there), Books a million (Great store for book material drawing anime books, mangas, and many other intresting books), and many other places that I can't think of right now Gomen! v.v (these places I had seen in Orlando Florida, I don't know if you can find the same places that I just wrote here in your country or state. I'm very sorry for that)
Night, like a black veil descends now embracing the world around me.
I sleep, yet do not...
your presence is near.

I simply refuse to buy complete series for $70 or more (probably because I'm broke most of the time :shady: but...) I just bought the whole cowboy bebop series on DVD (new) from E-Bay for about $30. I got the Chinese DVD version (the subtitles are pretty bad) but there are US DVD versions available for about the same price. Note that these are NOT VCDs. :P

$70 dollars or more is the price for most legit complete series in the US. About the only legit complete 26 episode series I have seen less than that are Nadesico ($59.99 at Best Buy) and the Robotech sets (which are dubbed and edited). There are legit 13 episode complete sets that sell for $44.99 at most places like Crest of the Stars and some complete short OVA series that sell from $19.99 to $29.99 (avarage of $24.99 at most places, I think, but some legit one episode OVAs do sell for $14.99).

If you are THAT picky about boxed sets, you should probably stick to individual releases so you get get one volume now and the rest later, but with individual US releases, you usually end up paying more than you would with boxed sets. Chinese DVDs are often cheaper than US releases, but the chance of a getting a bootleg is much higher, the quality is usually poor when compared to US releases, and multiregion DVD players are expensive, so I advise against it. There are legit Chinese DVDs with English subtitles, though. If you want anime for cheaper, I highly recommend checking for deals at legit places like http://www.rightstuf.com, http://www.bestbuy.com, and http://www.amazon.com (be warned that some of the alternate sellers with deals there may be selling bootlegs, but the main store itself is legit). If you order the three DVD complete boxed sets for $30 or similar "too good to be true deals" from sellers at animemaniacs, half.com, or Ebay, you are most likely getting bootlegs. Which are ILLEGAL, btw.

Ways to spot a bootleg:
1. Less discs than official US release
2. Price too good to be true
3. It's of an anime that's not officially available on DVD in the US
4. Region 0 or ALL Region encoding (though some legit CPM like the early Slayers TV boxed sets titles do have ALL Region enconding)
5. Poor quality with poor subtitles

I was a stupid girl for a while and bought anime only from Suncoast. Boy, wasn't it a kick in the gut when I found out how much cheaper other places were. Because they hooked me early and suckered me into getting the Replay card at Suncoast, I still will buy single dvds there, because at this point, with my Replay savings, it actually cuts it down to a normal price. I also get my monthly Animerica and Newtype from Suncoast, because they always have them when they're supposed to. The electrical brain impulses that tell my local Borders employees to re-stock and update their manga and anime sections are few and far between. Suncoast usually has the latest releases and the less-popular series as well. But Best Buy has awesome prices on boxed sets, and single dvds (when in stock *growls*). You may even find the odd ball anime dvd at Borders once in a while. If you don't mind your anime pre-opened, then you can sometimes catch a stray dvd at eb. Ebay is great, as long as you carefully read the item description. You can usually tell if it's an official release or not. Also, keep an eye on the seller's rating and transaction count.

I've started buying a lot of used titles from GameStop -- they often have an entire small anime section with many used titles. Just picked up Furuba Vol 1 for $15. The case had seen better days, but the DVD itself was flawless. A good way to cheaply try out a series before expending money on box sets (my standard modus operandi).
