House of Flying Daggers

I am surprised that there wasn't a thread for this film already.

Anyways, I am really, REALLY looking forward to this film. It looks like it's going to be another great martial arts film like Crouching Tiger and Hero. Plus Ziyi Zhang (not sure if which is her first name...) is in it, and she's a great actress in this genre...

The downside is that (as of right now) it doesn't look like any theaters in my hometown have decided to release it anytime soon...I know it's playing in NY and LA right now and that it's going to go to a few more cities on December 17th, but I REALLY hope it gets a nationwide release sometime soon...

The abbey is in the boonies, but I'm hoping it will be in one of the theaters when I go home for the Christmas break.

Actually, he's the director for Hero ^^

Just watched it and.... for the first time I accually didn't like a movie with Takeshi Kaneshiro in it. The fighting's cool, as always, and the story is.... okay. Mainly, I couldn't concentrate on the story because I keep thinking that Zhang Zhi Yi is being taken advantage of as an actress -_-; And is the film rated R? It should be for some, IMHO, rather too-in-your-face make-out sessions, are are more awkward than anything I would say. And dude, does Zhang Zhi Yi really have to lose an article of clothing every given chance?

But yeah, really pretty fighting (although at times I roll my eyes at the cheesy-ness of it all), and Takeshi XD XD I didn't like the usage of computer effects and the subtitles which really really kinda dumb down some lines. Thank goodness I can understand mandarin. XD

Bottom line, I'm not sure if I would recommend it, but it's probably just me. Hero and CTHD are much better wuxia movies IMHO.

Scantily clad(or something like that) in a few scenes, or so I've seen from the previews

And there were a number of scantily clad scenes in Crouching Tiger and Hero as well...

This looks awesome I'm a big fan of all wuxia and kung fu movies. Zhang Ziyi is an awesome actor. The old Bruce Lee flicks like Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, Chinese Connection. The Jet Li ones like the Once Upon a Time in China movies. And of course Crouching Tiger and Hero.

I love Martial arts movies!! I particularly like the old skool Kungfu but some of these new films are actually really good! I've seen CTHD but not Hero... yet. This movie also looks to be a breathtaking experience!
