The parody does a pretty good job of portraying the experience of playing the game. For those that haven't played it, I think you will see why I dislike it so much after watching that video.

Oh, definitely. Why should I waste my time playing a game that I hate, merely on the promise that it will get better?

If playing a game seems like a chore, I'm not going to do it. When I first played Final Fantasy 7, I was completely drawn in by its storyline, characters, etc. and it made me WANT to play the game. Compare that with SaGa Frontier, which after thirty minutes of playing I said, "This is stupid."

Also, yes, people are going to like and not like certain films no matter what. The local critic here gave Spider-Man 2 two and a half stars, whereas most other film critics gave it three or more. People have differing tastes.

That said, Shenmue looked extremely boring when I saw someone playing it, and I have no intention of ever playing the game, even more so after reading this thread.

That film is humorous in a rather abstract fashion, and definitely the 95 some seconds it will absorb of your life. Regardless of if you have played the game or not, or if you liked it or not, I think it would still be amusing. Of course, the ending would be easier to understand if you had played the game.
