Lord of the Rings: The Third Age

Postby Kireihana » Sun Dec 05, 2004 7:25 pm

Anyone else looking forward to this game as much as I am? I'm psyched over the fact that it's more of an RPG than the previous two games (Well, I didn't consider those games RPGs at all). I can't wait to play as the new characters. I'm getting the GameCube version, but the GBA version looks great too. Here's a link:

I played it at the home of a friend (he has muscular dystrophy, so the situation there is a bit complex) and though I did not play a great deal I did enjoy it. The new characters appeared to have actual depth, and their interactions with the primary storyline of Lord of the Rings was generally interesting ("Fool of a Took!"). Furthermore, the battle system was fairly enjoyable and seemed to promise a great deal more.

I'm looking forward to it. My brother works for EA and was part of the game team (also worked on Two Towers and Return of the King-- all those spashes and other effects you see were part of his work.)

If someone plays both LOTR: Third Age and LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth. Can u tel me which u think is better.

I'm leaning towards Battle for Middle Earth.

Aren't they truly different genres, however? The latter is a wargame, whereas the former is an rpg (nearly a carbon copy of Final Fantasy X, at that). I'd be inclined to not compare them at all.

The thing is I can only get ONE (which sucks).
But i'm leaning towards Battle for middle earth for 2 reasons.

1. I'm not much for rpg VIDEO GAMES.
2. And I love war games.

But if Third Age is way better than BFME then I'll get Third age.
