Hello, I'm new here

Postby Eriana » Mon Nov 08, 2004 2:34 pm

Konnichiwa!
Watashi no namae wa Eriana desu!
I don't know how many different language freedom I'm allowed to have so I won't speak Japanese if it bugs anybody. I'm a Christian and my brother's Crossdive and Jeikobu told me about this forum and I figured I would try going here because I want to hang more around a Christian crowd. I've heard a lot of wonderful things about this site and I'm sure there true! I love anime and have been looking for good ones I can watch that are not spiritually gross. If anybody could recommend an Anime or something I'd be very thankful. ^_^

Hi, Eriana! Welcome. ^_^
*offers handshake and assorted candy*

Eriana: What's that in your coat pocket?
Ssjjvash: Don't worry, it's not a milkshake. ^_^
Eriana: Ooh, milkshake!! *grabs coat and yanks out milkshake*
Ssjjvash: Drat. I'm running low on ice-cream again.
Eriana: Ice-cream too!? *takes*
Ssjjvash: -.-

Have fun here and enjoy your stay! I would recommend Rurouni Kenshin if you like humor and sword fighting intertwined. Same with Trigun, except with guns.
What's your favorite genre?

hm, lemme think...lots of people like Cowboy Bebop. Have you seen Dragon Ball Z? I liked that up until the end of Dragon Ball GT. The ending was lame.
Haibonei Renmei is pretty good. Haven't seen all of it yet though.

Hi! I'm Mangafanatic, also known as Osaka. I haunt the manga forums, so if you hop over there much you'll be seeing alot of me.

Well, I'm glad to meet you and I hope to see you around! Have fun!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Welcome aboard, Eriana. I'm not sure what spiritually gross is, but I would recommend Azumanga Daioh and Galaxy Angel. Both are out now and should be easy to find and both are very entertaining.

Well, it's a little hard to suggest titles when I have no idea what genres you like ...

If you like action, Iria is an excellent short series. If you like romance/drama that's lightened up with good doses of comedy, I'd suggest Full Moon wo Sagashite. If you like fantasy, Scrapped Princess and The Lodoss War series are very good. Hmm, for sports, we have Princess Nine, and for mech ... you'll have to ask someone else because I've rarely seen a mech series that impressed me. ;)

So tell us more about yourself! We're glad to have you with us, and I you'll probably be intrested in knowing that there's a few people here that know some Japanese.

I am very interested in the Japanese language so I hope someone can help me out with learning. Those are all really great suggestions! Arigato Minna! I've seen Princess Nine and stuff and I've heard about Galaxy Angels or whatever it's called, but I'm really careful when it comes to seeing anime's because some in the past have been off hand but, I was just looking for something different. I want to be cautious because I think it's not right to be careless about anything, because I am going to see something called Nurse Witch Komugi or something and I heard they have a lot of fan service in it so I need to be really careful and know where to draw the line, but things that I think Jeikobu suggested on here was at least one of the things I am already planning to see. I just pray I can find a good anime! P.S. As embarrassing as it is to say some of my Japanese is limited! But I'm trying to work on learning more Japanese day by day! ^^;;; So gomen ne if I spell something wrong or if it sounds weird! By the way I really appreciate the warm welcoming! I don't think I've ever gotten such a welcoming anywhere at forums! ^_^

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close
