Internal Speakers?

Ok Tech guys...shock me with your deep knowledge. Tonight I had a nasty fight getting rid of that cool search trojan thing...at last got rid of it. Booger tryed to dial long distance with my internet connection (I am dial up) but now...I can't hear it dial like I used to...how do I adjust the internal speakers on stuff like that?

Hmm, normally people want that off… anyways… try this….

1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Modems
3. There should be only one modem in there…open that… and click the Properties button (not Dialing Properties.)
4. Within this window you should be able to adjust the volume, there.

Hmm if that didn't work then you might have to open your PC and check if their's a jumper on the modem that controls dial tone.

That's possible, but it seems likely that there's something else going on here. When you were nuking the trojan, did you open the case? If not, then it was more likely a software setting somewhere that got reset. In that case, you'd need to first isolate what "drastic measures" you took to eliminate it. Did you delete and then re-install your modem drivers, or something?

Nope....got a file name offline that was part of the trojan...went in with safe mode and deleted it.

Hmm... That's all you did? That seems a bit odd.

What was the name of that file you deleted?

systime.exe

It may have played with the registry then, or even reset some random bios settings on the modem.

Without being "there" I don't think I'll be able to help much.
