Old Phil,
you beat the entire Monster Arena? I collected all the monsters, but I still haven’t beaten all that old coots creations… Many of those things are tougher then the final boss, or the Omega Weapon guy. When they counter every one of your attacks, cause every status effect in the book (including death!!!), have TON’S of HP and super speed and STR, I just don’t stand a chance. I would get wasted even with my strong characters… Even when every one in my party had ‘auto phoenix’ they could still beat me. I just didn’t have enough HP and they could kill all my guys at once. :waaah!:

The best I did was with Wakka’s ‘Attack Reels’, and every one else using ‘Quick Attack’ at maximum damage. Still, there were some I just couldn’t beat.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I was foolish to try all of th new creations, but could never beat the strong monsters in the arena either. Luckily it doesn't hurt your game!

Well, kaji, you'll have to look at my previous post. And ask the wolf how many hours I spent playing that game. I had 250+ non-pause hours to get there. I made EXTENSIVE use of the aeons, too. It's still pretty annoying after awhile, though.

And yeah, Tidus doing quick-hit with damage-break weapons is just toooooo cool. I just wish I could have a better limit break for him. (Here I'm thinking: Lionheart from FF8). But oh well. If you want to know more strategy, go check out my walkthough. It's pretty complete.

Nemesis is the hardest boss in this game. Over 1,000,000 HP. I can't remember how to fight him...,all I know is I beat him...but that was with the gameshark XD. He just made me so mad I whipped out the gameshark lol.

Yah, I guess 250+ hours could explain it...
I just love Bahamut. I got all the aeons, but the old B-Man was still my favorite. With his HP well over the normal limit, he was the only guy I could use to smack down some of those monsters. Not to mention being able to Double Cast, Hast, both protection spells, and a number of other usefull spells, plus add in the aeon's ability to 'Sheild' and he can repell virtualy any attack.

Though he cant hit as fast as my normal characters, he can block most anything. The phrase "Slow and Steady" comes to mind.

I will have to check out your guide.

You do realize that in the aeon's menu->attributes, you can use speed spheres to increase his dex, etc... Right?

I never got lionheart in FF8... I was really working hard on the monster arena before I had to give it back, but I never got to nemesis... That's the one you get when you capture ten of every monster and defeat all the other monster arena bosses, right? Yeah... I was having trouble with some of the capturing, like tonberry... I only had one, because I only FOUND one... I loved fighting Chimerageist and repeatedly getting return sphere... They were very usefull in large numbers. I was never strong or maybe good enough to beat earth eater... That was a pain in the butts.

I am going to trim down my videos and put the whole thing on like 3 DVD's. That likely won't happen until the release of Final Fantasy 14, though...

12 scares me... I'm not liking this whole move to "non-linear" because the less linear it is, the harder it is for there to be a coherant story...

Yep. ;) But even with an ausome speed, it still doesn beat the damage-per-minute rate capable by a 3 character party, each with outstanding str and multiple hit OverDrives.

Oh-well.

That's true, too. I've got Wakka, Tidus, Auron and Yuna all able to do 99,999 with a hit. Very few things are funnier than watching Yuna strut up to a monster and go "huh!" and dealing out 99,999. It's rad. But yeah, With auto-life, hasteaga and quickhit I was able to beat the hardest boss in the arena (the one you have to beat everyone else to unlock), though I understand a better strategey is to simply call an aeon in to take the hit in your place. *shrugs* Diff strokes, etc.

All my aeons have 255 max stats for everything, so all I can do know is increase their HP. On a related note, if you have the turbo button on your controller, you can "fight" in the arena and get 99 powerspheres in about 30 minutes. If you just let the characters fight the besaid dog over and over. That will let you use the PS to level up your bahamut like no one's business...

I know a lot of people complained about the sphere system in X, but I loved it. I think it was my favorite system in the FF games yet, although the draw in FF VIII was cool too.

I haven't heard many complaints about the sphere grid, unless they think it was too easy... It's great, because I essentially am playing a different game every time, although there are some things I always do the same (such as take Kimhari down Riku's path.)

The draw and junction thing was probably the most strategic the normal FF games ever got, with the exception of FFT.

I got bored of that game by the time i reached Gagazet Mountains. I, uh, also kinda messed up my game with cheat devices.......but i had an excuse! stupid Seymour Flux....Hey did you hear about the guy that completed the game over 700 times? He found out that if you enter an area with, say, 4 treasure boxes, count to four than open a box and you'll get a rare item.
gone for good...

Ha! Funny one, Fantomex.

If you actually got a guide instead of Gameshark(or whatever cheat), you might not have ruined it and would still beat the game with flying colors. You missed a whole lot of the cool parts in it, which I will not mention, b'cause it would sorta ruin it.

I'm currently working on this game right now....

I love the sphere system! I'm also quite impressed with the new tricks they've tossed into the battle system as well. This will most likely end up being one of my top favorites.

Oh-well, at least I had my ‘No Encounters’, otherwise it would have been twice as annoying.
