I'm interested in DDR, but I don't know which one to get. Suggestions?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

I have all three nextgen systems, so that won't be a problem. I'm sure that I will eventually get them all, but for now, which is the best to get? I love the Anime-like themes to some of the songs, and I liked the song (or it was a song from) 'Graduation'. I know that Graduation is a dating sim of some sort...anyway, back to the subject. What is the best DDR game to get?

Get DDR Max for PS2. It has the best song selection. The newest is DDR Extreme for PS2, but it's just kind of blah...Max 2 for PS2 is good. I'd go with the PS2 versions though because you can get the cheapest/easiest to find dance pads for it.

Hmm...I suppose this is sort of on topic.
Are there any DDR like games for the GCN? It's all I own, but I love DDR and want to play it at home.

Thanks.
I've never seen a DDR for the GCN. XBOX and PS2, yeah, but not GCN.

Same here. I don't know of any GCN DDR games.

Oh, and I would probably take Aku's advice, Destroyer.

if you have an xbox, can you download (stepmania)songs to the hard drive to play?

I've got DDR Max 2 for PS2 and it's really good, IMO. The only problem, my pad is broken. :waah!:

I have Max2 for the PS2 and I love it. There's a lot of fun songs, and a wide variety of not only difficulties, but types of music too. I'll have to ask Gypsy what the other disc she has is called, because it's really awesome too.

Thanks. I'll have to check it out, then. The pads are a bit expensive, but...which one is the better to get? Metal or plastic?

Well, I would say metal, because they're more durable and more like the arcade pads, so transitioning from home to arcade is easier.

I just got a RedOctane Ignition pad. It's plastic, but with a thick foam pad insert. It's highly rated, but I haven't used it yet. And you don't have to sell your soul to pay for it, unlike a metal pad ^_~

I just checked on GameFAQs for some stuff...what is DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix? Something like that...there were alot of different mixes for various systems.

I've seen several cool looking dance pads, but I can't seem to find a metal one...I am assuming that Mad Catz is not the company to buy a Dance pad from? It's 3rd party...I do not trust it.

If you have 350 bucks to spend, I'd get a Cobalt Flux pad. But, being that that's unlikely, I'd start with a 20 dollar pad you can find at GameStop or something. They're cheap and are good for beginners. Then, when you get worried about performance and getting high scores, go with a Red Octane pad.

I don't believe sony ever made a dance pad. I work at a game store and have not sold or even seen a Sony Dance pad. The only high end pad we carry is the Ignition pad, which is $100. I havn't had any complaints or returns of dance pads however, even our Mad Catz and even the Gamestop brand Dance pads sell rather well. ($20) I'll just let you know that the Gamestop brand pads are made by Pelican and then sold under the Gamestop name.
