My Life as Myself

Postby Linksquest » Wed Sep 22, 2004 4:35 pm

Life is so awsome, and then so weird. It has its ups and downs like a roller coaster... and then sometimes it throws you off the ride entirely!

I was brought up in a christian home and thought i believed in God until i reached teen-hood. I went throough some major questioning, wondering if i believed because i wanted to believe, or if i only believed because my parents believed. When i was about 15 i made the decision to believe in God, because i chose to, and not because of what my parents said, or what my friends said, or what anyone else said. And fall 2003 i got baptized in the Holy Ghost on our youth group's fall retreat. It was awsome!!!

I go to a public school, so, I get to meet non-believers everyday. Yesterday was a prime example. In my writing class, we were writing about a picture the teacher put up on the overhead (we do this every morning as our warm-up)... It was a picture depicting the judgment day: people in heavan and people in hell. When people were asked to share about what they had written about the picture I literally wanted to either yell... or cry!

I'm not joking... pretty much all of them said things like, "Well, i think the whole idea of there only being one way to 'heavan' ridiculous... i mean... the 10 commandments... come on! God isn't real!" etc etc etc...

I have to deal with that stuff everyday... its totally not cool.

So back to me... My main hobbies are reading, writing, playing zelda games, playing the piano, composing music, drawing (anime of course n_n), Singing, creating RM2K3 games, acting, and making short movies!

My main passion, though, is writing... I will sit in my room and write half of my summer away blissfully unaware that downstairs in the livingroom, the TV is on. Right now i'm in Ap English (Advanced Placement equivalent to College English), Advanced Creative Writing, Music Technology II & III, and Theatre (acting) III, and Fundamentals of Art ( I wish my school had an anime class!) . I really find it hard to tell my peers that out of my 7 classes in highschool... i love 5 of them!

I have 4 brothers, and you can just imagine what that is like... just kidding... having 4 brothers isn't as bad as it seems, actually i have thought more than once that having more siblings would actually be better!

Alot of people make fun of me because i'm more into the Creative Arts, than anything else. Because i'm a guy, people think its strange that i like all creative medias that exist: Music, Drama, Art, Writing, etc. It gets tough... dealing with it everyday... every once an a while people will ask me, "are you gay?" I used to be shocked when people said this and always say "no" because i'm definately not gay. Then those people who ask me that question will usually go on to be my friends... but i won't pretend that it doesn't hurt everytime someone asks that...

I love all writing Mediums: Short Story, Poetry, Novella, Novel, and Non-fiction! It's really fun for me!

Music just sort of comes to me. We've had a piano in our house for as long as i can remember. My Dad got it, when he thought he was going to have a career in music, but never got beyond the C major scale...

I can play by ear, almost as a habit. I'm always amazed when people ask, "how can you do that?!" I always thought it was easy and that everyone could do it!
( to hear some of my music go to http://www.geocities.com/soaringcastle )

Anime i have just begun to learn! Yes, i must admit, i am a noob in this arena, but that doesn't change how much i love it! I got hooked on manga and anime in general from reading the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Manga... which is excellent!

I'm going to be in my school's fall play for the first time this year, and i can hardly wait! although i do have the smallest part... I was upset about getting the smallest part at first... but then i realized it was all part of God's Bigger picture! I got a job recently, and if i had gotten a larger role i wouldn't have been able to keep my job! GOD ROCKS!!!

I know that feeling...a friend of mine told me if I didn't get laid by the time I turned 23 I'd be gay...and indeed, every once in a while on the ship I was accused of such...but I most certainly am not.

Anyway...

You sound like a kewl person. And Zelda games rock! Well except the two for 3D0 (or does anyone else remember those?).

:wow!:

There's an OoT manga?! Why am I always the last to know about these things?!

Finally, don't pay any attention to what those jerk-offs at your school say. People just don't want to believe the truth sometimes...just remember that the Bible says that one day EVERY knee will bow and EVERY tongue confess. I know it sounds kinda harsh ('cuz then it'll be too late for them), but you can't save everyone. You can only do your best by living by example and such.

Thanks! I haven't played the 3DO ones... if you mean the Phillips Cdi ones... which i have heard from many people that they were HORRIBLE! So... you cant really go into any store these days and pick up a Cdi system and the games, so... I just take their word for it.

The Zelda manga can be found at http://www.zeldalegends.net ... But right now i think they are redoing their site or something (I think it crashed!) so you might have to wait a couple of months to see it!!!

something I wrote for my writing class a while back:

MY UNIQUENESS

I don’t watch sports on TV. That alone separates me from most guys my age. I love to write. That separates me from the rest of them.
Last night I went outside and sat in the grass and gazed at the stars. I contemplated the world, my life, and the future. I thought back to miniscule and faded childhood memories. I spoke with God.
The lack of light that the absence of sun allows is quite wonderous when you take the time to look and listen.
How many High School students in Reisterstown, Maryland, the United States, or The World saw two shooting stars last night, and appreciated them?
How many kids dream with their eyes open? How many create a forest of pines from a vision of only two scraggly trees? It seems it is only I and my glistening reflection in the mirror pool.
Musical waves
Swirl around my head
Rhythmic syncopation
Whimsical muse

It must be played
Again
And again.

But I can’t read music
But I can write it
With flourish.

I can’t “notâ€
