Nightshade X: The Simple Enigma

Postby Nightshade X » Fri Sep 17, 2004 12:23 am

Hello, all. Seeing as I've been a member of this community for quite a while now, I think it's time I give you all a bit of information as to who I am.

First, my name: I guess you can call me Nate, if you want. There's always, Nightshade X, or Nightshade, or X... Of course, there's also my middle name... maybe I'll reveal that to a certain someone... someday.

Ok, some real stuff. I was born in Corvallis, Oregon, but I didn't live there long. The list of places I've lived are as follows:

Oregon
Oklahoma
California
New Mexico
Washington
California... again

Needless to say, I've moved around a lot. In a way, I see myself as a bit nomadic, since I'm always expecting to move on once I'm comfortable with a place.... but enought about that sob story.

My date of birth is 11/17/83, so that would mean I'm 20 going on 21. I'm so old!! I don't want to be an adult, yet I can't stop the flow of time. So, you know what that means. Yup... I'm going to be the youngest 21 year old I know!

I'm currently in my... second year of "high-school graduate-ism", and seeing as I goofed off for most of my first year of college, I'm starting over at Moorpark community college and transferring to... wherever I finally decide on whenever I finish my general ed and figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life.

I live with my mom and my younger sister, which I constantly refer to as both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because they've taught me so much about the fairer gender of our human race simply by observing them and seeing how they live. Unfortunately, this is also where the curse springs from. Living with them is driving me freakin' NUTS!!! :bang:

I love anything fantasy-related or alluding to the medieval era: dragons, magic, swordplay, knights, princesses; I love it all! This love of fantasy was what really drew me to anime. At first, I thought that either Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, or Dragon Ball were my first experiences with anime, but now that I think about it... it was Superbook, hands down. However, I really got into it when I saw "Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love" for the first time. I remember it clearly: I was watching TV one night, innocently channel surfing, and I saw what I thought was a cartoon. It ended up being a weeklong film festival on the Sci-Fi Channel. That movie was what I saw, and I loved anime ever since. My current loves include: Full Metal Panic, Onegai Teacher, Tenchi Muyo, Trigun, Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, Gungrave, Chrno Crusade, Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, Azumanga Daioh, Escaflowne, Dragon Drive, Wolf's Rain, RahXephon, Hellsing, Chobits, I My Me Strawberry Eggs, .hack, Ai Yori Aoshi, Voices of a Distant Star, most Gundam series, Cowboy Bebop, etc.

That's all I can think of, so if you want to know something specific, feel free to ask! I'm totally open to answer any questions. As I've told some people around here, I'll let you know if a question is too private to answer. That, however, is INCREDIBLY rare. I haven't refused to answer a question yet, so ask away! :thumb:

My name is also Nate (well, Nathan really...). You have an impeccable taste in anime, my friend. I enjoy pretty much all those series. Well, except Strawberry Eggs. I dunno...I never mustered the courage to watch that one. It's probably good, but...I dunno... :eh:

And you like fantasy stuff too! As do I...problem is I can never find a gaming group to join...I want to play my cleric of Sharess SO bad! Yes, I play in Forgotten Realms. Honestly, are there any other campaign settings worth playing in?

I can't think of any questions though...so oh well!

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]
