I ahve heard about this manga and that it is a girl basketball one . . . but that is all ... can anyone tell me what exactly it is about and if there is any bad content in it I should be aware of?

Hmm...let me try to remember. I read the scanlations when it was called "Power!!"

Basically, the main girl character is forced to disguise herself as a male student because her father had this unattainable dream of joining the NBA and decided to impose this dream on his daughter. -_-;;; <---- He enrolled her into the school as "male." Glad he isn't my dad.

So the story is mostly about her adventures to trying to hide her gender identity such as holding off fangirl's adorations and holding off her own feelings for one of the star basketball players in the team.

I don't recall anything too indecent in this comic (but my memory fails me so pls correct me at will). I only remember one scene where she pretended to be "perverted", by watching pornographic movies with the guys and peeping on naked girls/fondling them (??). It was a major shock for her and she even puked/fainted after that.. poor thing. She pretended to be so because she wanted to convince everyone that she's a guy. >_<;;;

In general, when it comes to stories of girls disguising as guys, I prefer the manga HanaKimi's characters a whole lot more than this series.

Hope this helps. ^_^

This is one of my favorite shoujo titles. I think I'm up to Volume 5.

[quote="Mave"]I only remember one scene where she pretended to be "perverted", by watching pornographic movies with the guys and peeping on naked girls/fondling them (??). The one scene Mave spoke of is played up for laughs, doesn't take up all that many pages, and it's just her trying to make everyone believe she's a guy. I didn't find it all that disturbing, and pretty much skimmed through it, laughing at the funny chibified faces.

Other than that, I prefer this to Hana Kimi. Hana Kimi is a more developed story, but I like the main character more in this one. Maybe it's because the girl is cross-dressing for her dad, and she's a good daughter - although, her dad is insane - and not because she changed just to get the attention of some guy. I find those story lines pathetic - that you go through all this trouble to be with a guy you don't even know (think the Felicity show), which to me just seems rather stalkerish.

Anyways, to give kudos to Mave for all the information she gave you on the show, and I know that most people prefer Hana Kimi. She is the mangaka. ~_^

I'm probably the rare few who prefer this manga. I don't think there is any shonen-ai, like you'll find in Hana Kimi. I really hate shonen-ai. It's like my pet peeve.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I enjoyed the first few books, but the latest volumes have been a little more serious. I prefer my fights in the typical shounen ninja-stuff style rather than verbal battles, but I still like the series.

Yeah, I think I'll check this one out too. The "I'm actually a girl but you all think I'm a guy" story line is sorta a hard sell for me, but I'll check it out anyways.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Yeah, I read the first two. Pretty cool. (It's still a little weird that you can tell the male protaganist likes the female protaganist [can you tell I'm bad with names] even though he doesn't know she's a she.)

I hope he find out she's a girl soon. I grow weary of the tippy-toeing through the tulips.

Yeah, I hope they don't get shonen-ai--ish about it.

Shonen-ai is the same as Yaio. Both of those terms refer to homosexual relationships.

They'll find out the truth pretty soon in this series (in the matter of a few volumes, I think). I have no idea what will happen right after that. It would seem that the catch is over but who knows...? ^^

In HanaKimi, the disguise was played out a whole lot longer (right up to Chap 20+). But this wasn't a problem at all coz the main male guy knew the girl was a girl right from the beginning and used the circumstances to get to know 'her' better (her intentions and personality) and protected her.

I think it happens in volume 5 (him finding out-might be 4 or 6 though). I have read in volume 7 and am still reading it. It doesn't get shounen-ai but some ppl thought there was something wrong between them once he found out she was a girl b/c they were found in some weird situations.

However, the part I didn't like was when SPOILER (sort of)!!!! the girl who signed on as manager of the b-ball team b/c she likes Kyo (she doesn't know Kyo is a girl) kissed Kyo unexpectedly (otehrwise there would have been no kiss) b/c Kyo seemed to like the dude (sorry I am bad with names also...Chiharu maybe?) that is on the b-ball team with her and Kyo was "going out" sort of with the b-ball manager (people were suspecting her relationship with with the b-ball guy). Yah, that grossed me out.... Other than that I don't remember anything really bad.
