I agree, Blade of the Immortal is excellent. It's probably my all-time favorite manga.

I read one volume because it was at my library. It didn't strike me as that bad, though I didn't have the proper connection with the characters.

I've got a few of the paper comics. It was actually the first manga that I picked up back during my first round in college. I think it is a good one, if a little gory. I'm surpirsed that Manji's (sp?) use of a swastika hasn't garnered more (negative) attention to the title.

On a side note, this topic keeps coming up, disappearing, and then popping back up later. I guess those of us who like it should keep the thread going eh?

I may have to reread this title with this in mind.

Note: the volume in my library has a somewhat lengthy note regarding the proper use of the swastika.

Every issue that I have does as well, detailing the mark's history, why Manji uses it, and stressing that the story takes place long before the Nazis turned it into a symbol of hatred. I mentioned it because people tend to see the symbol and immediatly fly into a rampage.

Back on topic, what all is availiable now? It has been a few years since I picked up my issues, and I see several different GNs on the shelves now.

Blade of Immortal is a masterpiece and one of the best manga I've ever read and own. I love the characters, art, plot and historical presentation. I've read from Graphic Novel #1 to 12 so far.

#1 Blood of a Thousand
#2 Cry of the Worm
#3 Dreamsong
#4 On Silent Wings
#5 On Silent Wing II
#6 Dark Shadows
#7 Heart of Darkness
#8 The Gathering
#9 The Gathering II
#10 Secrets
#11 Beast
#12 Autumn Frost

However, I will attach a warning: Be prepared for a lot of blood and graphic violence (chopped body parts etc), and some sexual scenes. But IMHO, those elements were necessary to make the story realistic. I own #3, 5, 9, 10 and 12 so far. I avoided #7 and #11 due to violent crimes towards women >_<;;. There's a particularly sick psychopath whom I hate very much in this series.

I can't speak for the other volumes I have yet to own...it's been a while since I've read them.
