An advice forum

Postby ZiP » Tue Aug 10, 2004 4:34 pm

I've noticed a lot of people have been bringing advice :?: to the General section,
I thought it might be neat to have an advice forum,
That way people don't feel like they're out of context posting in general.

We have a Tutorial section; would that work for advice?

That's what the staffers and I have been thinking (at least, those of whom I've talked to about this already seem to agree).

You mean, something like a Counseling Center? I support that idea since I think the Tutorial serves more for technical help.

I'd be ok with it as long as people understand that we're not professional counselors when it comes to really serious matters. Other than that, sounds fun to me!

I actually don't mind seeing advice-related stuff in the General section. If you relegate it to its own section, some people might never go there because they think they have nothing to offer, and some people who "think" they have all the wisdom might frequent the place and offer free advice left and right... for what it's worth. Not... that... we have anyone like that... here. >_<

Just putting in my 2 cents... for what it's worth. :)

I dunno,
its like the prayer forum, im pretty sure people actually do go there to look at prayer requests, otherwise people wouldn't get responses when they make requests.

I think that people would feel like their threads were veiwed more if their threads were seperated from the entertainment threads. just my 2 cents

I think an advice forum would be a good idea. I mean, I'm a little hesitant about posting a new thread when I'm not sure where it would belong. A person might neglect asking for advice in the general forum because they're not sure if it should go there or not. Having an advice forum would solve that little problem.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.
