MSN is king of the heartless! *goes to slash with keyblade* I've been playing KH a lot lately....

but ANYWAY, yeah I had hoped MSN would drop out of the race as well, but that's simply because I have never personally been a big Xbox fan. And no, I have nothing against you guys that do like Xbox. :thumb:

The GC might be able to handle a toned down version, but the PS2 just doesn't have the horsepower to pull off Halo, and Halo2 will be pushing the XBox even further.

Fact it folks, XBox is here to stay, just as Sony is.

I own all three systems.. GC, PS2, and Xbox. I think all of them have there advantages and all of them have games that I like. Other wise I wouldn't have spent so much money on them all. I like enjoy playing Xbox, mainly because you can't go wrong with halo. I don't know if i would enjoy playing halo on any other system. I have played Splinter Cell on multiple platforms mainly to see which one I like it on. I would have to say I like Splinter Cell on Xbox as well. I do how ever like Tony Hawk on PS2. I like my platformers on GC. So I hope that Xbox doesn't drop out.

Halo is much better on the platform it was meant for...the PC. Nothing beats 32 player mayhem.

Amen to that one, I personally don't want communism to exist in the gaming world...*blinks*.

Seriously though, Microsoft doesn't surprise by making this call, they didn't release enough information of a new console at the previous E3, which would've been a good time at least give us a hint of what's to come. I mean the new Zelda game has a year to stir us all up.

xbox isn't going to drop out for a long long time......its too good of a system (with a lot of money, a lot of great games, and a huge fanbase) and its definately here to stay.......if anyone is on their way out , at least in the states, its nintendo consoles (and after the PSP, they might lose handheld as well).

hate to say it, but you'd see frozen pigs flying in the deepest pits of hell before you'd see halo on a sony or nintendo system. Microsoft may be heartless but they sure aren't stupid.

i'm actually going to pick up killzone though...looks tight..... honestly though......after seeing the E3 demos for both games.......it isn't going to be able to touch halo 2......especially as far as multiplayer is concerned.......

someday ya'll are just going to have to stop hatin' and get an xbox =)

I've been a Sony fan since the PS1, and I don't except that that will change in the near future. They have (by far) the largest installed user base, game library, and the selection of great games.

I am happy that the XBox isn't coming out until at least the second half of 2005, since Sony isn't planning to release the PS3 until early 2006. That way, Microsoft won't get too much of a headstart ;) .

I may be wrong about this, but isn't Nintendo trying to get their system out first? Personally, I would rather see Nintendo become a third-party developer than have Halo on the PS2/3 (it's better on the PC anyway). After all, they would probably make a lot more money if they were selling their franchise titles on two platforms that are more popular than their own.

Nope, never will without lots of money or a court order... at times they are heartless and dumb.

Volt wrote:Well one things for sure. Microsft games. I mean they're either ports or PC games.

While that does qualify for many of them, it's not true for all. Sudeki, while it's got some faults, is a great game and it's XBox only (and published by MS). Fable slated for later this year is also an XBox only title that's not comming to anyone elses system (and from what I've seen the PCs would be the only other place you COULD bring it), and this too carries MSes publishing mark.

Chrimson Skys was redone as a new game from the original port they where planning due to poor reception.

And let's not forget that Rare is now property of MS, which means that Perfect Dark Zero is going to look really HOT when it comes out for the X2 (and honestly I'm awaiting for the goodness that is Kameo whenever it get's released).

Volt wrote:MS made a nice Console. But with the announcement of the Xbox now having 400 games in it's library I'd like to say... YEA RIGHT!

Ahem.... hate to break your bubble, but all 400 published titles (or pretty darn close to it) are printed in the back of every XBox Magazine along with their XBox Mag score (good, bad, and ugly). 52 of them (I counted) rated at 9.0 or better score (for whatever a magazine review is worth).

"Insert Crappy Games here, I will make Graphics look pretty"

HA! The Sony system is the king of crappy games, but like all systems ballances it out with good ones... most of the best of those games on the PS2 are due to SquareEnix.

You can hate all you want, but it's not going to change the fact that, dispite Microsoft being Microsoft they built a darn good system and it's got a lot to offer the gaming community. And frankly dispite all that Square has done for Sony, I find myself very rarely wishing I had a PS2 to play anything.

PS2 didn't have the most stellar launch lineup ever. It still entertained me though with Madden, Summoner, Timesplitters, and Dynasty Warriors 2. But the next year with games like Jax and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and so on the system really started to get going.

Ah, but you forget that most of those companies aren't PS2 exclusive... and with EA and MS getting their differences out of the way over Live, things are only going up for them.

Volt wrote:My freind you are missing a lot... you are missing a lot. And why do keep ambigiously suggesting that Square is the only good thing on PS2. Square-Enix isn't the only company that exhists...

You're right, but you also seem to think that Halo is the only thing XBox has going for it... and it's just not true. If I where to list the games I'd like to play on the PS2 (and not Square)? .Hack, Zone of Enders, few platformers (Jak, Ratchet and Clank), and maybe a few others, but very few. If the PS3 is backward compatable I'll get that to play them, otherwise I've got plenty of games for the XBox that'll keep my happy (and a few on the PC that I have to upgrade for).

As for games that are XBox that should have been a PC release, there is only one that really should have been a PC only release (and wasn't released at all), and that was the AvP RTS game.... RTSes don't work well on consoles (though there is one comming that's supposed to be really good, we'll have to see though). Halo, while it was originally supposed to be a PC game, became a major release for the XBox.... a smart move by the evil tyrant Gates.... and honestly how good the game looked is part of why I finally caved into buying a XBox over a cube (that and Nintendo didn't drop the price soon enough ;) )

I agree with Volt... the only reason I haven't bought an Xbox yet is because the only games I would ever consider buying it for are Halo, Halo 2, and Fable.

As for the PS2 and the Gamecube... I love them both! They're both good systems in my opinion, as there is a decent library of great games for each one.

We just need a Linux-powered games console. However, you *can* have games consoles that run Linux.

And then there's my NetBSD-powered Dreamcast. I do need to get the NFS mount working again, though, so that it can have some prayer of doing something useful.

Didn't Micro$oft block the Nightfire hack that allowed Linux to be installed on the latest copy of the Xbox "firmware" (read: altered version of Win2K)?

Unless Konami and Squaresoft go MS exclusive, I won't ever buy an MS system. I will be getting the PS3 when I get back home in 2006, unless I get my cosigner for Full Sail (and have been faithfull in my math studies)
