So, it sounds like there's a lot of love for Samurai Flamenco? Maybe I need to go back and give it more of a try. (I watched the first episode, but never got around to any more.)

My anime watching time is always more limited than I'd like, but we did just start Noragami -- episodes 1-2. I can see how the premise of Noragami (minor god needs to get a shrine) could be off putting for some CAA members, but it reminds me in different ways of both Blue Exorcist and Devil is a Part-Timer, and I really liked both of those shows. I also like that it seems to have a strong female lead, too.

Also just watched Kanon 2006, up through episode 10. It took a little while to get into this one, but I'm liking it quite a bit. It does obviously remind me of Clannad, but it seems to have its own distinct sense of humor. Actually, watching this makes me really want to rewatch Clannad and Clannad Afterstory, but that's the kind of thing I don't think I would have time to do till this summer.

I finished Hyouka over the weekend. It was pretty good, especially the fact that the mystery scenarios could have actually happened or were realistic. I especially liked the storyline about the film.

Tokyo Ravens episode 18. I have to say that I was considering dropping this early on as it was going fairly slow, but I'm really glad I didn't as it is turning out to be very enjoyable.

I wanted to stay away from romance genres recently and wanted to watch something with lots of action.
Although it's mainly about basketball, I love this anime because of the characters~. ^-^

I just started this one, and I'm loving it. Funny you mentioned romance genre, I feel like I've been getting sucked into that lately, which generally isn't my cup of tea; so this anime is a welcome relief. I really enjoy the action, and I'd forgotten how much I love basketball. Kuroko is awesome!

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I'm loving episode 9. I felt like the senpai needed some recognition, and this episode more than delivered. They're my heroes. :jump:

Well, right now I'm up to ep 3 of Code Geass R2 (Dubbed) and I'm loving it! And thank goodness the dub improved. It was kind of rough at the beginning of season 1 but it's much better now. I think I've also fallen in love with mecha! ^_^

I'm also up to ep 10 of Tsubasa Chronicle (Subbed) and let me just say, thank you Claec-san for getting me into this series! It's been kind of slow right now for me but It's interesting and gradually getting better and better! And I'm already loving Fai, Sakura, and Kurogane! :D

Wellll...during my departure I was able to watch....
Bakemongatari- there were some things I didn't care for in this series but also things that I loved about it, all in all very unique so im glad I watched it!
Tsubasa Chronicles season one- eeee soo cute >.< ^I see others are speaking of this too! The characters are awesome.
Tsubasa Chronicle season two- still good, but a bit slow at times.
Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations- ahhh sooo different and yet sooo amazing, words cannot describe!!!
Now I am reading the manga!! I think so far I am on chapter 28.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood- I am on episode 6, so far loving it! episode 4 was INSANE INSANE INSANE!!!

I'm so happy I could cry. Tsubasa love all around! I'm glad you like it, PLC. Seconding Panda, you most definitely should try the manga. It's awesome beyond words. Fai is the man!

@PandaPop, I didn't know you were watching Tsubasa! Also, where have you been? I thought we lost you! Also, kudos on reading the manga! I'm sure you already knew this, but Tokyo Revelations is so different because it follows the path the manga took. Kind of like the difference between FMA and FMA:B. I must say, the art took some getting used to for me. But it's truer to the manga. Well, the art for the original series took some getting used to. When my sister watched it with me, she said all the characters looked anemic.

Dang. I didn't realize everyone was on a Tsubasa kick. Cool! :D Now I'm convinced, whenever I finish the series I'm definitely reading the manga! I adore Fai so much and I think I'll end up loving him even more! ^_^

I forgot to mention that I watched the anime movie Hal last week. It was short. Only 1 hour but full of 'feels'. I personally found it pretty confusing but I did like the little plot twist at the end. The animation, art, and music was just gorgeous!

And last night I watched Steamboy with my mom. This was the first time either one of us watched this and the animation. was. AMAZING! That's the kind of stuff I'd love to direct. The story was pretty good too and the dub was excellent! It really surprised me. Now I'm going to force my dad to watch it! Muaha!

^Hal is such a great movie. It can be confusing, but it is one of those almost-tear-shed series/movies for me that does get me emotionally involved (which is a huge compliment from someone that doesn't cry really in media). I thought that the plot twist was really interesting and that it made sense though it was a bit rushed. Also, I think that the twist added to the emotions.

I've been mostly trying to keep up with the winter season and watch Monogatari: Season 2 whenever I get a chance. I've now seen through episode six. It looks promising.

Good, good, my pupil. All is going according to my plan.
YES. I must warn you, if you read the manga, you will never, never, never be able to break free from it! And trust me, there's no way you can not love Fai at least 18 times more after reading the manga.

Yayy for Tsubasa Love!!

@Claec, Yeah actually after I watched Bakemonogatari I was trying to figure out what to watch next and your words, watch Tsubasa, kept popping in my head, so I did, and I am so happy I did! Yeah when I read about Tokyo revelations being truer to the manga I knew I must be read it!
 I had a really similar situation with my sister, she was sitting by me while I was watching it and she said that Syaoran looked anorexic :( poor Syaoran.

@PLC, You force your parents to watch anime too hehe! My last attempt was a fail, my mom wasn't feeling Trigun :/. But I did get my dad to "unconsiously" watch DBZ, he still wont admit he enjoyed, even though he made me pause it to wait for him, multiple times...

@ForeverInspired

Yeah, the twist definitely made it more emotional and cleared things up a good bit. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I cried at the end.

@PandaPop

Yeah, I have managed to get my mom to watch Vampire Knight, Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist, FMA: Brotherhood, and most of Ouran. She actually has enjoyed them (especially VK and FMA) and has even said more recently that she wouldn't mind rewatching them. However, it's a lot harder for me to get my dad to watch any. He likes animation but mostly CG and every time I show him a video from an anime I've seen he complains about it, like the animation is too stiff, the characters look too weird, or the story doesn't make sense (which it shouldn't considering he's never watched the whole thing). But Steamboy might work with him.

@Claec

Your plans seem to be working too well. :XD:

Right, so I’ve finished Ergo Proxy. And it’s undoubtedly the most artistic anime I’ve seen. Even the filler episodes were brilliant (and I think even my favorite part). It’s one of those stories that will either confuse you into giving up, or enthrall with it’s philosophical references. Cogito ergo sum. Cogito ergo sum. Cogito… yeah.

So, I just finished the seventeenth episode of Bodacious Space Pirates. Eh… this is the first anime to blindside me quite like that. Blindsided by, yuri content that is. It actually hurts my pride that I didn’t see it coming. Prior to this episode I was all onboard for this anime (I was even going to put something on my sig about cat-monkeys… or were they monkey-cats?). I plan on finishing the series, but I find myself no where near as excited for the upcoming episodes.

Re: What anime are you watching?

Kuroko no Basuke episode 24. I'm over here hyperventilating right now. This is so intense! It's actually more intense than almost any fight scene I've watched in anime, because in fights, unless it's one of those "anybody's expendable and your favorite character could DIE at any given moment", it's kind of a given that the good guys will win the fight. But in this, you never know what will happen, because they can survive losing a basketball game, and it's totally reasonable that they might. So this is killing me.

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I wasn't a big fan of Kise up till now, but I so so so so so want him to win this. Also, I want someone to beat Aomine. And even though Kuroko made his whole speech about beating him, I'd be content with Kise. And honestly, I think winning against Aomine means more to Kise than Kuroko. Plus Kuroko just wants someone to beat Aomine, even if it isn't himself. So yeah, I'm rambling over here. Ignore me. Basically, I'll be really sad if Kise doesn't win this one. He's fast becoming one of my favorite characters in this. His team is so awesome and cohesive! It's like...the only team besides Kuroko's that's not a bunch of jerks. I'd be happy if they won the Inter High.
And those last few plays of Kise's! Awesomeness!!! I'm gonna destroy something if Kaijo doesn't win this game.

My only complaint with this anime (and maybe this is sadistic) is that there isn't more psychological trauma. There's so much of people with skills honed to perfection and unstoppableness, suddenly being stopped by some random person, and they just get over it afterwards. I don't think that's how it works; or at least not for everybody. In my dad's high school, one of his teammates was the ace of the team, with an awesome style that basically won every game. Then one game the opposing team put some little shrimp on him who pressured him out of ever making a good play the whole game. Dad said that after that, he was never really good at basketball anymore.
So yeah, I would think that having your style completely destroyed/thwarted/rendered useless would be a tad more damagine. *shrug* But I guess, confidence ftw!

Edit: Watched ep. 25.
SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I'm gonna go sob in a corner for a little bit, don't mind me. Then I shall find Aomine and strangle him to death. Also: soft spot? Aomine? Could've fooled me.
Once again, Kaijo proves awesomeness. I love that team. They'd better win something someday.

FMA:B 55-64. I really, really enjoyed this show. I feel like they could've tied up a few more loose ends, but overall it was just an enjoyable series <3.
I am pretty sad that SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Greed died, since he was probably my favorite homunculus XD It was bound to happen, but still~. Also, I...actually kind of wanted Mustang to stay blind D: though I guess that wouldn't really work out for him too well hehe. Other than that there were a few parts where the show dragged (Briggs), but in the end it said what it needed to and served it's purpose~

So yea, definitely a favorite <3.

Started watching Tweeny Witches on a whim and...wow this is really cool! I'm only two episodes in but it's got great style, music, sound, characters, and setting. And the plot seems to feature real mysteries and ethical tensions, not just black-and-white moral wish-fulfillment. There's pretty much no reason for me not to like this. Too bad about that title though. Maybe I'll stick with the romaji title, Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu.

Thank you. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. When I was reading the manga as it was first coming out, that was the longest year-or-so ever.

Anyway, I watched the dub of the Tsubasa Spring Thunder OVA. Awesome stuff, though I'll admit I was slightly disappointed that SPOILER: Highlight text to read: the dub version of Fai's monumental "Kuro-sama," the pinnacle of the development of his character and relationship with Kurogane, was translated into "Kurger-burger." It gets across the message that their relationship is okay again, but loses some of the most beautiful nuances. I'm not really sure how I would do it differently, but oh well.

@SierraLea - I just watched Princess Jellyfish recently and was also having troubles hearing Alphonse. Oh my... but the anime turned out to be much better than I thought it would. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: The cross-dressing was a bit much for me, but I liked the almost-romance :)

I have been watching Digimon Season 2 with my sister - so much better than the first season! Agh I had trouble forcing myself to watch ssn 1 but ssn 2 is proving quite entertaining.

A few weeks ago I watched all of Kamisama Kiss and was sad it ended. I watched it almost completely in subs. I was dis-impressed with some of the theological issues but my personal take on that is that I realize the difference between God (capital "G") and god (lower case "g"). Whenever a "god" in an anime is mentioned, I generally equate them to royalty who happen to have powers of some sort rather than an actual diety. My faith in the one true God is not shaken by shows like Kamisama Kiss. I explained this to a friend of mine as I sat her down to watch Kamisama Kiss the other day (this time in dub). She enjoyed the show immensely. I would consider it a combination of Inuyasha and Fruits Basket. A bit cheesy, but for some reason I really like romance like this (again, Inuyasha/Fruits Basket). Wish I knew a few more dub series like these.

OH! I randomly tuned into an episode of Pokémon XY on television the other day. I haven't watched a new PKMN episode in ages (largely due to the dub voice changeover...). That said: the art, the plot, the theme song!!! Took me back to the good old days. I think the voice actors are doing better now as well. I finished the episode with a feeling of nostalgia and an urge to watch another episode. Lovely.

Yesterday, I discovered some dubbed episodes of Fairy Tail I have not seen yet(about 30!) so I've been plowing through those in between reading Ouran High School vols. 9-11. Fairy Tail has the unique ability to make me want to persevere! I love those characters :) As for Ouran (manga)... yup, love those characters too. I have a soft spot for Hikaru but Kaoru tugs at my heartstrings, too. I let characters get to me too easily...

Legend Of The Galactic Heroes episodes 1-110 (complete) + the My Conquest Is The Sea Of Stars & Overture To A New War movies + the 24-ep. A Hundred Billion Stars, A Hundred Billion Lights & 28-ep. Spiral Labyrinth side-OVA's (...whew! ):

Wow. Yes, this was quite a journey (one that took me several months to complete)-- but man, was it ever worth it! :jump:

Now, as most of you probably know at this point :) , I grew up on sci-fi, and thus have always dearly loved the genre (indeed, to this day many of my favorite books and shows happen to either be set entirely in or use elements of it); so that, combined with how fantastic literally everyone I've ever heard talk about LOGH says it is, *plus* a direct recommendation of it to me from you guys, as well :thumb: , made me quite excited to finally experience this classic for myself. And it was indeed every bit as epic and awesome as everyone has said! :jump:

That said, in full disclosure, I actually didn't really warm up to the series until the characters started getting fleshed out in episode 3 (in fact, those first two episodes were my least favorite ones of the entire series), but then it started to get real awesome, real fast-- and only kept on getting even better and better from there! :thumb:

The characterization in this series is fantastic. From often-hilariously-snarky Alliance personnel, to scheming Imperials, to opportunistic Phezzani, to slimy politicians (or even just various citizens) of all sides-- whether they're honorable, terrible, idiotic, brilliant, or any number of shades in-between, and whether you love them, hate them, pity them, or are just simply intrigued by them-- all of the characters are interesting.

Also (and this is not a spoiler-- I mean, it's a show about a war, and features countless characters' deaths within it; you shouldn't assume that anyone's immune here), this series has a remarkable gift of making certain quite-expected deaths quite-unexpected in their timing/circumstances. (All I can say there is wow... :pikka: )

And that's just the characters. The main thrust of this show is about the conflict of beliefs-- specifically, autocracy vs. democracy. That said, both types of governments are very realistically corrupt, and the ideals and flaws of both systems are examined in detail. What's even more interesting is that there is no real conclusion on which system is (and various elements thereof are) better, even by people like Yang-- which provides quite a bit of food for thought.

And then there's the fighting itself-- ranging from hand-to-hand combat to full-on massive-scale fleet battles, real strategy and tactics (including factors such as supply lines, troop morale, fleet positioning, and etc.) are not only employed but are vital.

Indeed, the sheer realism, detail, and depth of all the politics, strategy, tactics, and etc. in this series is incredible. (In fact, it doesn't even matter if the entire episode is just dialogue {though obviously there's plenty of action as well}-- every single ep. is completely fascinating!)

On another note, I both found it interesting and also quite liked the fact that while the intelligence/plans/etc. of many of the military leaders are very intriguing, and rightfully held as brilliant-- and while Reinhard himself is, as the series describes, "a man of the battlefield," and is at his most happy/interesting when working against an opponent-- war/fighting itself is not glorified at all (more like the opposite, in fact). I think it's pretty darn impressive that a series which is basically devoted to war-- and which (both plot-wise and character-wise) derives a lot of its appeal from how fascinating the resultant politics/strategy/tactics are-- actually doesn't glorify it (or its effects) whatsoever.

And then, to top it off, all of this is set to a backdrop of classical music-- each piece perfectly chosen for its respective scene. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Including one particularly magnificent moment in the finale, which featured one of the best uses of the Moonlight Sonata I've seen in any media to date. It can't get much better than that.

As for the My Conquest Is The Sea Of Stars and Overture To A New War movies, it was great to see certain people again; all of the new, extra characterization (especially in the latter film) was excellent; and I was both pleasantly surprised and also quite impressed by how Overture somehow took my two least-favorite episodes of the original series and actually turned them into one of my favorite parts. :jump:

And then the two side-series served to flesh out both a few previously-referenced events as well as a whole bunch of backstory ( + even *more* character development-- which I didn't realize was even possible at this point, LOL! :) ) on certain characters. They were really great additions to the saga, and I quite enjoyed them. (Oh, and it was neat how the end of the second side-series kinda makes you want to go rewatch the entire original series/etc. all over again, too... :) )

So, yeah, TL;DR: Everyone should watch this. It's awesome.
Saved by grace.

Oops forgot to mention that I watched Spice and Wolf II. I watched the original series years back but thought it was pretty slow for a fantasy series. I randomly decided to turn on Spice and Wolf II recently and I am glad that I did. Holo and Lawrence are adorable in this season! Still some theology issues, of course. And Holo can be a bit... extreme? But the pace was much better and I really liked the writing this go-around. I chided myself for not watching it sooner.
