Nakajima Megumi is a half-Japanese/half-Filipina who, through an audition, debuted as Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier. Obviously, as one side of a love triangle in a Macross, the role was huge, and it gave her the opportunity to show off her singing. So far, her most notable role and songs are still the ones from Macross F, but she's definitely got talent.

She also provides the voicebank for the Vocaloid GUMI, which I think is the best sounding one. I'm beginning to wonder if GUMI might be starting to eclipse Mamegu a bit, especially with the strong crop of 2010 GUMI songs.

Major Roles
Macross Frontier as Ranka Lee
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: Galactic Battles as Kotone (Lyra)
Fairy Tail as Lyra
Sacred Seven as Aiba Ruri
Am a fan.

She actually has a pretty distinctive voice, though, because even I recognized it when I was watching Sacred Seven.

I didn't recognize her in Fairy Tail first, but the second she sang it struck home. If anything her singing voice appears to be getting better with age.

Well, I certainly know Makino Yui from Tsubasa Chronicle! ^_^ She had the perfect voice for Sakura - soft and kind.

Looks like these last few seiyuu didn't have as many roles as a lot of the ones on the list.

Let's do this.

114. Hayamizu Risa (早水リサ)

A ton of minor roles and relatively few major roles. She tends to play older ladies like teachers or onee-san type sempais. Her highlighted roles below paint a picture of a number of fairly different roles even within that archetype.

Major Roles
Amagami SS (TV) as Maya Takahashi
Big Windup! (TV) as Maria Momoe
Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (TV) as Takako Kimura
Gokusen (TV) as Kumiko "Yankumi" Yamaguchi
Xam'd: Lost Memories (ONA) as Fusa Takehara

115. Kaida Yuhko (甲斐田裕子)

Another lady who plays older female roles, although with much less variation than Hayamizu Risa. Her voice is fairly deep, which let's her play some military officers in addition to the usual serious business sempai stuff.

Major Roles
Broken Blade (movie series) as Lee
Maria Holic (TV) as Ryuuken Ishima
Mobile Suit Gundam UC (OAV) as Marida Cruz
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings (TV) as Matsu
Taisho Baseball Girls (TV) as Tomoe Tsukubae
The Tatami Galaxy (TV) as Hanuki
Tiger & Bunny (TV) as Agnes Joubert
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (TV) as Mari Kusakabe
Toradora! (TV) as Sumire Kanō

116. Kiuchi Reiko (木内レイコ)

Unfortunately, I haven't really heard her before so I can't say much. But Daisuke! That's a pretty important role.

Major Roles
Digimon Adventure 02 (TV) as Daisuke Motomiya
Futari wa Pretty Cure (TV) as Kiriya
One Piece (TV) as Jewelry Bonney
Yes! Precure 5: Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibōken! (movie) as Dark Aqua

117. Noda Junko (野田順子)

I'm pretty sure you can see a pattern developing with this set of four seiyuu, as they probably all have about the same voice range. Other than that, not much to say about Noda Junko except that you'll probably recognize a good number of names in her list of major roles.

Major Roles
Dennō Coil (TV) as Obachan
Digimon Adventure 02 (TV) as Vuimon
Haibane Renmei (TV) as Reki
His and Her Circumstances (TV) as Maho Izawa
Last Exile (TV) as Dio Eracles
Love Hina (TV) as Mitsune Konno
Soul Eater (TV) as Mira Nygus

Well, Kaida Yuhko did Hevlaska from D.Gray-man, which I guess makes sense from the voice range she has.

Noda Junko! Dio Eracles and Reki! Ahhh, I love her voice ^_^

So sad that Megumi Hayashibara barely received any cred from CAAers when she got mentioned :/ There was a time when she basically was the human face of anime. Having Megumi in your voice cast or even better, singing one of your show's songs was almost a hallmark of quality in itself.

She was Ranma, Momiji, Rei, Lina Inverse, Pai, Anita, Faye Valentine, Lime, Team Rocket's Jessie! And a myriad of other roles. I doubt there's any other seiyuu with such an impressive record of main characters of popular series!

I know we're already living in other times but our memory shouldn't be so short when it comes to give credit where credit is due.

The problem is that her roles are all in the 90s and she hasn't really done much in recent years. I didn't get around to watching Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop until long after I was already into anime and already had favourite seiyuu and stuff. She's obviously still huge in Japanese circles (like when Nico Nico Douga went nuts when she uploaded her cover of a Vocaloid song), but among younger foreign fans, I can see why she might not be on everyone's radar.

Yeah, outside of Detective Conan and Pokemon, you aren't going to be hearing her in much now. It's been almost a decade since she's had any notable roles outside of long-running stuff or the recent Slayers series.

I'd be more of a fan had I actually seen the original Japanese of some of the series she was in (e.g. Pokemon, Cowboy Bebop), though I did hear her as Rei (Evangelion) and Leila (Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust), and I will say she sounded fantastic. But I haven't heard enough of her to be a fan yet. ^_^;

I do want to locate this vocaloid cover she did, though. O:

I suppose since it’s been brought up I should chime in to mention I actually have heard some of the roles of Hayashibara Megumi, unlike the vast majority of seiyuu that have appeared in this thread. Most notably, I’m of course familiar with Rei from NGE and Faye Valentine, though I also notice that she played the title role in Paprika. Besides that, she has also had tons of roles in shows that I haven’t seen but with which I have some familiarity anyways, like 3x3 Eyes, Bakuretsu Hunters, Blue Seed, Love Hina, Macross Plus, Maison Ikkoku, and Yu Yu Hakusho. (This just shows how much more familiar I am with nineties anime than with anime released in the last five years.)

A couple of the main reasons I haven’t been participating much in this thread are 1) out of the roles in listed in this thread, there are relatively few I have actually heard, and 2) I don’t pay much attention to seiyuu, so there’s not much I can contribute even on the rare occasions when I have heard one of the VAs who has been mentioned. The likes of Rei and Faye are huge, important roles in huge, seminal works; however, I have pretty much no memory of Hayashibara’s voice from those anime because it’s been too long since I watched them, so I can’t really comment on her quality as a VA.
Let others believe in the God who brings men to trial and judges them. I shall cling to the God who resurrects the dead.

Yeah, if you liked anime at all in the 90's, you most definitely heard her. That's how ubiquitous (and not for nothing) she was. I'm perfectly aware that a younger western generation didn't have as much contact with her, but my complaint was only an excuse to sparkle some more discussion and raise awareness about her, which I got. :)

118. Ono Daisuke (小野大輔)

Ono Daisuke is the friggin man. He's one of my favourite male seiyuu and his roles are almost always enjoyable and occupy a wide spectrum of types. His best roles are the ones where he's all suave with the ai rabu you stuff, but he can make a decent angry or relatively normal guy in a pinch. His first huge role is in Air as Yukito and he follows that up with some important stuff in 2006, like Higurashi and Haruhi. He's been doing good in the last few years, landing some major roles outside of anime as well.

Major Roles
Air (TV) as Sora; Yukito Kunisaki
Black Butler (TV) as Sebastian Michaelis
Durarara!! (TV) as Shizuo Heiwajima
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) as Itsuki Koizumi
Minami-ke (TV) as Hosaka
Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (TV) as Woolf Enneacle
Umineko no Naku Koro ni (TV) as Battler Ushiromiya
Wagnaria!! (TV) as Jun Satou
Muv-Luv Total Eclipse (Visual Novel) as Yuuya Bridges
Final Fantasy XIII (VG) as Snow Villiers

I <3 Ono Daisuke. He is one of the main things that made Air TV and Kuroshitsuji tolerable. Like for Miyano Mamoru, I'll watch a series just for him. [/fangirl]

Ono has a great record all around, though; from Shizuo to Itsuki, he's a talented voice actor.

Plus, he was the crow in Nichijou. <3

Well, I've only heard Ono Daisuke as Shizuo in Durarara!!, but he did a pretty good job of it, I'd say. Would probably be funny to hear him in a soft, romantic role after that

There was a crow in Nichijou? As in...that crow?

Anyway, I like Ono Daisuke a lot. He's very good at what he does. I didn't realize he was Battler in the Umineko anime, though. That kind of makes me want to watch it, but I'm not sure it would be worth it...

Current ETA to seiyuu #151 at the current pace is likely sometime in 2020.

119. Ochiai Yurika (落合祐里香)

Not much to say here except that she has only two very well known roles, both of which stem from video game land: The iDOLM@STER and ToHeart.

Major Roles
Konomi Yuzuhara in "ToHeart2" (PS2) (Japanese)
Yukiho Hagiwara in "THE IDOLM@STER"

120. Nonaka Ai (野中藍)

Not gonna lie, I don't like her voice that much, at least not her more obnoxious one. She is able to tone that voice down, though, and I much prefer it when she does. But because of her usual, very noticeable voice, she tends to play characters with fairly bright personalities.

Major Roles
Another (TV) as Yukari Sakuragi
Asura Cryin' (TV) as Kanade Takatsuki
Clannad (TV) as Fuuko Ibuki
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (TV) as Meme Touwa
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! (TV) as Mika Inamori
Kamichu! (TV) as Miko Saegusa
Negima! (TV) as Konoka Konoe
Natsu no Arashi! (TV) as Yayoi Fushimi
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) as Ichijo-san
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) as Kyōko Sakura
Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei (TV) as Kafuka Fūra

121. Kadowaki Mai (門脇舞以)

Fairly similar voice to Nonaka Ai's, which is why I'm not too surprised she's together with her in the song. Can't say much else though, since I haven't heard her nearly as much.

Major Roles
Fate/stay night (TV) as Illyasviel von Einzbern
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate (TV) as Isara Aomi
Negima! (TV) as Satomi Hakase
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) as Behoimi
Strike Witches (TV) as Sanya V. Litvyak
Kodomo no Jikan (TV) as Mimi Usa
Isshoni Training: Training with Hinako (OAV) as Hinako
Futakoi (TV) as Souju Shirogane

I think Nonaka Ai was quite good as Kyoko! And being a character that had two very different faces that's not just empty praise.

122. Kanai Mika (かないみか)

Not someone whose name comes up a lot. She's got some parts in some long running stuff and even some more recent stuff. Going by her roles, you can probably tell she doesn't do very many types of roles. Probably mostly occupied with the pokemans.

Major Roles
After War Gundam X (TV) as Tiffa Adill
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) as Kaguya Sumeragi
Galaxy Angel (TV) as Normad; Vanilla H
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (TV) as Satoko Houjou
Pokémon (TV) as Bayleef; Chikorita; Mariru; Masami; Purin
Soreike! Anpanman (TV) as Melonpanna

123. Morinaga Rika (森永理科)

Another seiyuu who tends to do younger characters and of both genders. Her roles tend to be fairly lively, at least from the ones I've seen. Also desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu

Major Roles
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (TV) as Azuma
Minami-ke (TV) as Makoto "Mako-chan"
Kamichu! (TV) as Matsuri Saegusa
My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) as Mawari Zenigata
Rozen Maiden (TV) as Souseiseki

124. Konno Hiromi (今野宏美)

Did Potato even make any noise? I don't remember. Her Sae voice is hella annoying imo, like a more high-pitched Noto Mamiko breathy voice. Her best role is as Akira in Lucky Star, though, snapping back and forth between cutesy voice to RAGE.

Major Roles
Acchi Kocchi (TV) as Kana Miyama
Air (TV) as Potato
Amagami SS (TV) as Sae Nakata
(The) Future Diary (TV) as Kamado Ueshita
Lucky Star (TV) as Akira Kogami
My Ordinary Life (TV) as Hakase
Shugo Chara! (TV) as Il
Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai (TV) as Suzume Imamura
