Season 1, I have not quite gotten to season 2 just yet. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes, and 3 is looking like it is going to be great to. I have found the series to be quite funny, and I enjoy all of the characters. What I realize though is, I understand the reason Twilight was hesitant to make friends with the impressions the other ponies gave to her initially. I mean, seriously, Pinkie Pie screams, and runs away after she says hi. Applejack makes her sick to her stomach after insisting she stays. Rainbow dumps all sorts of precipertation on her, and messes up her mane, causing the scandal with Rarity. I could really understand her feelings, but I felt they were too offensive to her about making friends. But everything else about the two episodes I enjoyed a lot.

Sorry if this is a spoiler to someone, but I assume everyone who posts on this thread has watched past this episode. and I couldn't find the way to cover something with a spoiler tag.

Wait till you get to 'Suited for success'. Rainbow has a line in there that just rubbed me the wrong way.:D But as you see the characters personalities open up, you'll find that the introductions was really well done, it makes them more believable as they act in their own everyday way.

Don't worry, we usually wait until Wednesday after a new episode and then we ditch the spoiler tags anyway. And spoilers are: SPOILER /SPOILER both between [] brackets.

You are probably right, I am just making some inaccurate early assumptions.

By the way, thanks for telling me how to use the spoiler tags.

Welcome, Zeldafan2! I hope you continue to enjoy the episodes. I'm sure you will! They just kept getting better and better to me when I watched them.

Bio, I enjoyed your long spoiler discussion about the latest episode. I loved the episode, but I hadn't noticed the things you pointed out.
It's a really interesting concept, having an episode set in the past. I'm not sure if the writers intended it to seem that way (I don't think they did, because of the letter to Celestia), but it would be cool to have an episode purposefully written that way. I think I'd enjoy seeing Ponyville before Twilight arrived.
Which line are you referring to? I need to watch that ep again.

So even though I'm not the biggest MLP fan, I've decided to try to keep up with the show as much as my schedule permits. I actually watched a classic MLP special today, and I found myself feeling that Friendship is Magic is a stronger effort. It feels like the ponies in the classic show all pretty much had the same happy-go-lucky and bouncy personality... In FIM, they're given more distinct personalities, and they feel more unique as characters. :) I typically prefer classic stuff, but I'd say this is probably one case in which I'd say the new stuff is better.

I'm glad your liking the show and I hope you can keep up with it. :) The creators really are doing a great job with it.

Which line are you referring to? I need to watch that ep again.

'Suited for Success' spoiler:
It's where Rarity is locked in her room and Twilight says that she's not a laughing stock and Rainbow says “She kinda is.â€

@Bio

Oh yeah! That line. I don't know if that necessarily requires a spoiler tag, but better safe than sorry, especially if new people are watching the season for the first time. I could see how that would seem OOC for Dash at the time, but I think we know her well enough now and it seems pretty typical of her to say something like that, despite her loyalty. I think it's actually kinda cool how all of the characters don't "perfectly" represent their elements. They all have their weaknesses and places where they slip up, like Applejack's conflict between honesty and pride in The Last Round-up. It's a lot like real life, where we all have our strengths, but we're all liable to mess up, too.

Concerning Putting Your Hoof Down:
That's a great theory! I'm starting to agree with it more and more. I didn't notice that wording in the letter. I think I'll go back and re-watch the episode from that perspective now and see how it all fits :D
I was really only using the spoiler tags for ZeldaFan there :P Rainbow's character was especially hard to figure out. Loyalty? Really? It took me a while to warm up to her, but now I wouldn't have her any other way. It makes episodes like 'May the best pet win' and 'Read it and weep' really unique and fun.
And I agree that it's cool that they don't represent their elements perfectly. I think giving them that weakness makes them more believable and easier to relate too.

I finished episode 4. It was AWESOME! Definitly the most humorous episode so far! (From what I have watched anyhow.)

@Zeldafan2 Glad you're enjoying them! That was the first episode that I really got into and enjoyed thoroughly. Up until then I was still in the "it's an alright show but still kinda girly" category (yes, I wasn't an immediate convert), but after that episode I think I started to realize how awesome the show is, and I went back and watched the first three again later and enjoyed them much more the second time :) And you just wait, if you think that episode was humorous, you've still got plenty of humor to look forward to!

On a completely different note, I don't know why this random thought occurred to me, but I realized that there could be some significance to Twilight Sparkle's name, at least in relation to the story arc of the pilot episodes of season one. Twilight reunites day (Celestia) and night (Luna), right? Well day and night could never meet without twilight between them. Day transitions to night through twilight, so the fact that Twilight Sparkle brought them back together and her name is Twilight? I thought that was cool. And the Sparkle part of her name could refer to how she is the spark that ignited the other elements in her friends. I just thought that was interesting...

@ZeldaFan Next is 'Griffon the brush-off' and after that you get to see one of the most famous episodes, the one that, pretty much, is the reason Equestria Daily exists as we know it.:XD:

@Felix That's a really cool observation.:thumb: It could tie into the theory that Celestia is grooming Twilight to be her successor.

Edit: just worded this differently, it sounded weird.
Someone just told me something: You know that a lot of Bronies assume that Applejack's parents are dead because she's living with Granny Smith. In the episode 'Cutie mark chronicles' (avert your eyes ZeldaFan) Applejack leaves home, and we see a sad Big Mac and Granny Smith, but no parents, so even there we assume she has no parents, but Applebloom isn't born yet, so her parents have to be somewhere. So that could mean her parents are still somewhere in the present as well.

@Bio: Huh, that's interesting! Good point. I honestly hadn't thought that much about most of the characters' parents, because apart from Rarity's, they've pretty much been nonentities all along. Out of sight, out of mind and all that. Hmm. Maybe things work differently in Equestria, and a stork (or a mailpony) brings babies to ponies? Maybe Apple Family ponies grow on trees? The possibilities are truly endless.

It would be very cool to see Applejack's parents though. If they are alive, I wonder why they live elsewhere instead of at the farm? It's definitely intriguing... and I wonder about the other characters' parents too. We've seen Twilight and Pinkie Pie's parents, but I wonder where they live and why they never visit? Do Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash have parents hiding out somewhere too? Questions, questions...

Finished watching 7. Rather funny episode, but it doesn't top number 4 in terms of humor. I hope Fluttershy develops a little bit more later on, however.

I really do dislike Rainbow Dash, however. She has shown herself to be a self centered jerk. She has her moments, but they are few and far between. I hope she improves later on.

Just wait until 'Sonic Rainboom' and you'll start feeling different about RD and soon she'll be on your desktop :) (But her jerk streak won't go away, you'll still start to like her though, you'll see.)
The next episode is one of my favourites.

And we're almost to the new episode the dreaded (for me) back to the future episode :wow!:

Concerning episode 8,

Twilight was the most oblivious pony I have seen her been so far. I had no idea she had this charastic. (Sorry if I spelt it wrong.)

Overall though, this was a decent episode, and it does develop the friendship between the characters of the Mane 6. (In this case, AppleJack and Rarity.)

I wouldn't really say Twilight was oblivious, for me it always looked like she was trying to ignore Rarity and Applejack's bickering. She wanted her first slumber party to be special and didn't want the bickering to ruin it. When she finally gets angry after they went to sleep she kinda admits that she noticed their bickering. Unless you're talking about the tree incident, that's Twilight's by-the-book personality, you get to see a lot more of that in the future, and yes she can get very distracted when she's like that.

Yeah, I see your point.

Finished episode 9, and it was HILARIOUS! Now I have an episode that tops 4 in terms of humor!

Best part of that episode though, was Fluttershy's voice. I was like, ROFL! :D

I'm little envious of ZeldaFan, getting to see the episodes for the first time. I'm thinking how cool it was when I saw them for the first time. :) Soon up will be 'Winter wrap up'. Another thing that's great about mlp is that not only does the characters develop, but their world does too. I always enjoy finding out all these weird ways their world works.

Sorry if my post gave you the wrong idea, I was just getting nostalgic when I see you enjoying the episodes. It's a good thing and as I said before, we don't mind if you discuss old episodes. Even though I have been watching mlp as early as s1e4 I never really had a place to go to discuss, rant, complain or get exited about the episodes until a bit into season 2. And since I know what you're still going to see it's exiting to see your reaction to that. If you think I'm giving too much away, I'll try to tune it down a bit more. So please continue to discuss the episodes you're watching, we really don't mind.

Ah, yes. Pinkie's "Curse". That was quite funny.

I also remember since Pinkie couldn't sing or talk, she had Fluttershy (in her ridiculously funny deep voice) sing it for her. I have to say, that might have been the funniest part of the episode for me.

I have to commend the writers so far. There has not been a episode I disliked.

Actually, it was iTunes who changed the voice. Derpy's original voice is safe in the DVDs, television and etc.

It's been confirmed that HUB was behind the voice change, so future DVDs with the episode will also have the voice changed. Mechana put up a link with a response from Amy Keating Rogers that explains what had happened with the whole situation.
