I think I saw the Northern Lights :D

Postby ChristianKitsune » Mon Oct 24, 2011 9:52 pm

So tonight I was riding along a darkish highway heading north, and I looked out the passenger side window and I Saw this faint but at the same time brilliant band of crimson in the sky. It was really beautiful I have never seen anything like it. I've heard that people can see the norther lights even if you live in the continental US.

I live in Kansas so this was pretty cool to see. Did anyone else catch a glimpse of this? It was around 8:40 pm CST.

EDIT: Found a news article with a picture :D http://www.kake.com/news/headlines/Northern_Lights_Visible_In_Kansas_132504633.html#.TqZFm5EMi1M

Wow, that's awesome.

I live in Oklahoma, but there's too much light pollution in my area to see much of anything in the sky ;_;

Apparently there was a huge solar wind that affected the Earth's Magnetic field. I wonder if that will be a lasting change?

Jaden, that's amazing. o.o

Unfortunately at 8:40pm last night the only thing I saw above me was the dispatch centre's ceiling. But as Shiroi said, too much light pollution for me to have seen it anyway.

We occasionally get Northern lights in my little section or Canada. I've only seen them once, though. They were white and very beautiful, but not as magnificent as you get them farther north.

Once, years ago, the night sky behind my house had some white lights in strange patterns. They didn't move around or anything, it just looked very different from the norm. My parents said there was a little green until just before I got there... And that's all I've seen.

The really colorful occurrences look pretty sweet, though.

Very Awesome.
I saw them two years ago.
They are very lovely and it is amazing that without them there would be no life here on the Earth.

the Northern Lights are indeed beautiful...I wish so badly to see them again. I saw them once when I was in my early teens and they were eerily lovely, and apparently made sounds. There's too much light in my city to see them much. :/
