Prayer for my dog please...

Postby TopazRaven » Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:46 pm

Alright so I just had a rather scary experience. I was walking my beagle Shiloh around the block and suddenly I hear some woman yelling. I turn around and there is a German Shepherd running up the street at us. She jumped on my dog, bit his back and he practically screamed bloody murder. I was so scared it's not even funny. She kept chasing him so I went to kick her in the face and she backed off then I picked him up and started walking away because I just wanted to get away from her. She watched me and followed a little, but then another guy came out of his house and asked if we were alright. I said I think so and just kept walking then the dog finally turned around and ran back up the street to her yelling owner. I've looked him over now that I'm home, no blood or limping, but he was so scared and it darn well scared me to. He seems fine now, but could you just keep him in your prayers please? I don't know how hard she bit him and I guess I'm just afraid problems will show up later or something. I'm paranoid like that.

Keep an eye on him. If he starts showing signs of pain or starts having movement issues, then it wouldn't hurt to have him looked at by a vet. Most likely he will be fine after a day or two of rest.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Thanks. I've been watching him. I think I'm more shaken up then him now. My heart has been beating really fast for an hour now. I hope it calms down soon. I'm not sure if this is just a really long panic attack or what. He seems good for now. Wagged his tail, chewed on his bone and sleeping now.

Ouch. I'm glad you weren't the dog.

Praying. I'm harsh about things like this, so take what I say with a grain of salt- I'm sorry you were that shook up and wish you could have gotten that lady's name/address. That woman needs to be reported/fined for being unable to control her dog- if it will attack another dog, I wonder if it won't also attack a person.

I'm begining to wonder if I should have went back after I took him home and talked to her. I've actually seen this dog before. Her owner was playing with her in the yard and she ran up to my dog and wanted to play a few months ago. Very friendly. I don't understand why she ran all the way up the street and attacked him like that. I was wondering if trying to kick her face was mean, but I didn't want her to hurt my dog and I didn't know what to do. Luckily she didn't jump up on me to try and get him when I picked him up. She stared at me and followed me a little before someone came out of their house and then she ran back to her owner. Even if she was just playing that was still unacceptable in my mind because she scared him and bit him hard enough to make him yelp. Not only that but jumping on him like she did could have hurt him to. I already told my neighbor who has a smaller more delicate dog not to walk him on that street anymore. Likewise though the owner was nowhere near me. She was down the street yelling for the dog to come back. As soon as the dog left us alone I just got out of there, we where both shaking so bad. I've never been attacked by a dog like that before.

Thanks for the prayers everyone. He still seems alright so far. We'll see if the poor dude is sore tomorrow. He's already nine years old, poor old guy doesn't need this. Lol.
