For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

Make an introduction CD

Postby rocklobster » Sat May 28, 2011 6:57 am

OK, let's say you were to burn a CD to give to someone in order to introduce them to a specific band. What songs would you use? The catch: you are limited to 10 songs.
Here's two to start:
The B-52's (no surprise):
1.Rock Lobster
2.Private Idaho
3.Mesopotamia
4.Give Me Back My Man (the Party Mix version)
5.Whammy Kiss
6.Communicate
7.Planet Claire
8.Love Shack
9.Is That You Mo-Dean
10.Pump
Red Hot Chili Peppers:
1.True Men Don't Kill Coyotes
2.Jungle Man
3.Fight Like a Brave
4.Under the Bridge
5.Higher Ground (awesome cover)
6.Can't Stop
7.Hump De Bump
8.This is the Place (from By the Way)
9.Californication
10.Warped
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."

armeck, I like how you think

Linkin Park:

1. In The End
2. My<Dsmbr
3. Pushing Me Away
4. Easier to Run
5. Breaking the Habit
6. What I've Done
7. Pts.Of.Athrty
8. Valentine's Day
9. The Catalyst
10. Waiting for the End

I think that would show a good sample of the surprisingly large range of styles they've developed over the years, as well as minimizing the screaming and mostly-rap tracks that could alienate future fans just by default. And I think it's fitting that it begins and ends with those particular tracks

I would've replaced "what i've done" with either "iridescent" or "leave out all the rest" other than that i really like your cd there.

Relient k:

2, i need you
3, be my escape
4, part of it
5, nothing without you
6, from end to end
7, my girlfriend
8, in love with the 80's (pink tux to the prom)
9, must have done something right
10, pressing on
