Joplin, Missouri

Guys, my old college town got hit by a tornado Sunday afternoon and was absolutely devastated. My school is okay, but they're saying the tornado was a mile wide, and so far 37 people have been reported dead. There are a ton of places I used to go all the time that have been completely demolished, and there are several people I know who I have yet to hear about.

Please pray for Joplin.

On a personal note, I'm so sick of the places I love being devastated.

Again, I'll be praying...this is why I will never get over my terror and paranoia of tornadoes, and why I cower in fear and cry when there is a tornado watch/warning in the area.

You're not alone there Nate! I do the same thing. I'm so sorry Yuki. :( I'll be praying!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Praying. With all the storms lately in my area, and the amount of damage and death, I've been scared of them, too.

From my best friend's facebook: "Please please please pray for all of the people still trapped. It's horrific here. Pray please pray. We've seen so many horrible things in the past 6 hours." She and her husband were in the Wal-mart that was devastated. If you watch the news or see the pictures, half of the store was demolished. I was so worried for them because the last thing on her facebook said she was in Wal-mart waiting out the tornado, then I saw pictures of it.

The pictures are devastating. These are places that I know and love. I have several friends who've lost their homes. So far haven't heard about anybody I know dying, so praise God for that, but there are still many people trapped. The tornado directly hit a hospital and took out a significant portion of it.

I'm currently watching the news on CNN. My pastor has friends and family in Joplin and updated us to let us know that the team at the Rapha House headquarters is alright...but that him and his wife are waiting news from more friends and family.

This is just so terribly devastating. I read an article about this tornado this morning and it's already killed 89 people!? What is going one with all these crazy storms! I'm still prarying and hoping no one else will die from this. :(
