I had a car accident on Friday morning on the way to a dr. appointment. I was on the feeder road and saw my turn coming up on the right --didn't brake hard or fast enough for the turn --took it too sharp --wound up jumping the curb and hitting a concrete sign.
I was going the speed limit. Airbags did not deploy. I checked out okay at the hospital the day of the wreck. Went back to the ER Mon. night b/c of severe chest pain --found out that the cartilage in my chest is inflammed from the impact (I was wearing my seatbelt, but still hit the steering wheel.) Been resting as much as possible--been having bad asthma/wheezing and pain --will be going back to work tomorrow (hopefully I will make it through the whole day.)
Car is a total loss. It will go to the insurance adjuster in the next few days to get the value of the car calculated. If insurance also says that it is a total loss, then insurance will pay what I still owe on the car (I still owe $7,000.) And I will have to go find a new one somehow.
As much trouble as my Taurus has been (in the past year, alternator went out twice, radiator went out, air compressor went out, had to replace all tires and front brakes), I'll miss her a little. She was my first car, though I only had her for 2 years.
Got extra time on my term paper b/c of the wreck, but I still need to finish it ASAP. With all the insurance/body shot/credit union people calling and with still recovering from my injury, it's been hard to focus. This is my last paper of the semester. I am 1/5 of the way through it.
Thank you all for your prayers. I appreciate the support so much.
