There are two brief nudity scenes. One could be seen as sexual, but I saw it as fairly symbolic, since it was not titillating/fanservice- it was literally a scene of him ripping off her mental defenses. My best way of describing it is mind-rape, though no sex actually occurs, and it has the undertones of violation. The other is at the end where she's taking in/fixing everything that's been destroyed. Again, it was more symbolic than anything.
I would have no issue showing it to a mature 13-year-old, since it wasn't pointless fanservice.
I was twelve and it didn't scare me for life (in face, I hardly remember them). I actually watched it with my dad. Then I watched it again so I could see the begining. A week later I watched it again because Lucy wanted to watch it (although she refused to watch the nuditiy scenes).
It's a great anime, so once your Mom ok's it. Dive in head first. For now, you should watch Clannad (the TV series!!) LOL I'm funny.
