What Game Are You Playing Right Now?

I've been playing "9 Hours 9 Persons, 9 Doors" for the DS and it is awesome! Fantastic game if you're into puzzles and stuff... It's also extremely text heavy but it excels at storytelling. I've played the game 3 times so far (you can skip all the text you've already read and try different paths to get different endings... still have yet to go through all 9 doors and still haven't got the good ending yet. Each time you play and choose different doors, the story changes a bit and you find new information about the mystery and what's going on and everything). In each door are rooms you get trapped and locked in... you got to solve the puzzles to unlock the door and escape from the room. Fun fun fun.

Up next is Ghost Trick... similar to Ace Attorney and such I hear... Something about you're a ghost and you gotta solve your murder. Another puzzle game ^_^

You have made me a happy girl ^_^ I now know about two more puzzle games that look awfully intriguing! But I have to ask: 999 is rated M, for just about everything it looks like. From what you've played, what kind of bad content is there? (Mainly suggestive themes is what I'm worried about.) Mini-review plz?

Lately, I've just been playing a lot of Bowser's Inside Story, and remembering what a wonderful game it is XD

As far as suggestive themes, there isn't much at all. One of the characters is a dancer if I remember correctly and her outfit is very skimpy. It reminds me sort of like an exotic or belly dancer costume. I think there was one brief part where she's trying to hit on you or someone to try and get through the door she wants to go through (each person has a different number and people can only go through doors when the digital root combination equals the number on the door... the game will explain this stuff though). And then there may be a couple sexual innuendos. Other than that, that's been it for sexual themes. I think the M is mostly for language and descriptive story telling. Plus there is a slightly creepy atmosphere. On guy swears a bit and says just about every common swear word at least once. It's not totally peppered with language but it's there every now and then. Descriptive storytelling... there are like shots of blood sprayed all over the wall during but that's about as graphic as the visuals get (well you see a couple dead bodies a few times but it's not like gruesome). Like I said the game is very story/text heavy so instead of showing you with graphics, it will describe what the characters are seeing very graphically (ie "There was blood and chunks of bone and skin hung on the wall etc etc etc"). Drug references... that's like once... someone said watching a movie is better with pot or something. There is some violence too but it's nothing graphic... but you know what happened (you'll hear the sound effect and then the screen turns red or something). And that's about everything.... I still haven't gotten 3 of the endings so I still need to play it 3 more times but yeah.. It definitely feels like an M game but it's more for the chilling story it tells and the creepy atmosphere than anything you see visually. I didn't know they made M rated DS games but there ya have it...

Anyway, I put that aside for now and started Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective... this is really fun so far! You're dead and you have to change peoples fates by manipulating objects and rewinding time. When you find a dead body, you can rewind time to 4 minutes before they died. From there, you can change the events of what happened by manipulating objects. You go into the ghost world and time freezes and you can jump from object to object. Then you come out of the ghost world and do your "ghost trick" to manipulate it. So you can make new things happen that didn't before and either allow the person to get away or other ways you change the outcome. These people are connected to you but you don't know how so you're trying to jog your memory while gathering info and changing peoples fates by rewinding time and manipulating objects... the manipulating objects and figuring out how to change what happens is where all the puzzles come in. Not quite Ace Attorney like I thought it was but very fun none the less.

I have never once beaten a traditional RPG, though a few I've come near the end of. But I figure if nothing else, I'm gonna beat Final Fantasy IX.

Playing Stacking, a wonderful game from Double Fine.

I just beat it tonight. And I bought it yesterday. So let me get this out of the way, it's not a lengthy game by any stretch of the imagination, especially if you play through it just to beat it. Even doing all the bonus stuff isn't particularly time-consuming...especially since for all the Challenges, you can get hints from the game itself (and the game will even flat-out tell you the solution if you ask enough).

For some people, fifteen dollars is too much to ask for this. To them I say, you're sad pathetic creatures who don't know how to have fun anymore. The game is brilliant, with a fun story and cool graphics and just a lot of fun and humor. My only complaint is the trophies are a bit backwards I feel. Bronze for doing all the Hi-Jinx and silver for doing all the Challenges. It's backwards because the game will tell you the solution for all the challenges, meaning they're not as hard to do as the Hi-Jinx (which the game will give you a bit of a hint, but there is no way to know what to do exactly sometimes). The Hi-Jinx should have been silver and the Challenges bronze. But oh well.

Oh and I'm also playing Pokemon Black. It's okay so far. Pretty standard Pokemon fare. Apparently Unova is in the Southern Hemisphere because it's autumn in March.

If you haven't played a Pokemon game since Sapphire, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum over Black and White. The setting and pacing feel better in those three games, and I think many of the fourth generation Pokemon are some of the best in the series. Also, Marley is totally hot.

Also, Platinum stands as the absolute hardest Pokemon game I have ever played. I don't think I would have beaten the Elite Four or the Champion if I hadn't had my level 100 event Regigigas. I mean, they really, REALLY buffed up those guys in Platinum, it was ridiculously hard.

I'm not saying Black and White are terrible, but if you haven't played Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, you should check those out first.

Anyway picked up the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow DLC and beat it, though I haven't done any of the extra stuff because trophies are kind of screwed up. I also got Dragon Quest VI for the DS...YEAH! Dragon Quest! I do love me some Dragon Quest.

How was the LOS DLC?

The DLC was interesting, but not great.

The good is that it gives a bit more backstory on how Gabriel became the way he was at the end of the game.

The bad? Well...it ends on a cliffhanger, and given the nature of the cliffhanger and what has been said about what the next DLC pack for the game will be about, it's hard to see how it will be continued in the next DLC.

Second, it's only three levels and you can beat it in a couple of hours. If you like the game, that's probably not an issue (especially if you want to see what happens to Gabriel) but if you were a person who was kind of ambivalent about the game, 10 dollars might not be worth your time for three levels.

Finally, there's two sections where you control Laura. The first time you do so, there is a ridiculously stupid and difficult fight that took me about twenty tries to get past (I was playing on Paladin difficulty). It wasn't very well thought out.

If you really liked the game, it's worth a buy, but again if you were the kind of person who was like "Eh that game wasn't so great" then you should probably skip it.

Glad I found this thread as it gave me some ideas for DS games. This one people are calling "999" for short sounds particularly interesting. Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy IV, because yes, I was one of the 11 people who had never played it.

Just last week I decided to STOP playing The Sims 3, permanently. As in selling it all at the used bookstore. I had wasted most of the last 5 years of my life on the "Sims" franchise. Some people can play that game occasionally and for fun, but I am not one of those people. Now I should be fine until The Sims 4 comes out, I figure.

I don't own a standard console game anymore, of the type that you connect to your TV. I'm in no rush since my TV is pretty old and due for replacement. Which in itself I'm in no particular rush to do as I hardly ever watch TV. If and when I do spring for a console, I am thinking in terms of an Xbox 360, since I am blanching at the price of a PS3 even still (and have never owned a Bluray disc), am done with the PS2 (although I saw someone mention the .hack series, which I loved, and am glad I'm not the only one), and owned a Wii for a few weeks only to return it after deciding it wasn't my thing. I wouldn't mind a rollicking good RPG of the Dungeon Siege or .hack ilk, which there must be quite a few of that type for the 360.

I got back into playing Chrono Trigger, and I think I've got a bit better handle on the gameplay now. Music is awesome, graphics are charming, too early to say much about the story though.

I also just got to the final dungeon of Xenogears, so that'll be done soon - finally D: I've been playing this thing for like three years.

Only thing I don't dig about the DR games is the constantly running clock. If you accidentally mismanage your time, you've pretty much screwed yourself over for the game and you'll have to start over.

Still progressing through SMT: Strange Journey. The surprise for me was how much I've played of Suikoden Tierkreis. I've just found it very easy and enjoyable to spend time with it. After this I'll be thinking about either Arx Fatalis or Planescape Torment.

Right now I'm playing Dark Cloud 2 with my two youngest siblings. What a singularly unique and strange game that is... The story is chock full of just about every anime cliche there is, but DANG, is it fun to play! Especially for someone like me, who thrives on strategy elements but isn't very good at fighting (had trouble beating Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando ). It's the perfect game for me to play with the little ones, too, because there are so many layers to the gameplay. My brother can blast through a dungeon, then my sister can go fishing, and then between levels I can work on building up the weapons. It's a perfect balance! XP

Pfft... Just 40 hours? My DC2 save file has 95 hours and counting on it, and we haven't even finished the game yet! *_* I don't recommend playing that game alone, come to think of it... XP

That's reminding me of when I recently checked the main save file I have for FFX, the one where my brother and I did most of the sidequests (i.e. not blitzball or the horrid Chocobo Racing thing where your time has to be less than 0:00), the one that's saved at the last save sphere of the game, right before the final three bosses. Over 100 hours

If you love Chrono Trigger...you would probably enjoy Radiant Historia. It is a RPG for the DS that has lots of time travelling. It has different story branches and optional quests. Your accomplishment or failure can alter the storyline.

Anyways, I am currently playing 2 PSP games. 3rd Birthday and Legend of the Heroes: Trails in the Sky.

3rd Birthday is a 3rd person shooter that is part of the Parasite Eve series. One of my favourite series. Aya Brea is a great character!

LotH:Trails in the Sky is a great RPG! Fun characters and storyline, good battle system and a large world! Estelle is a super fun character!
