Praying for Enemies

Postby airichan623 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 8:21 pm

Hey,guys...

I need some prayer on two things: one, for comfort for someone at my school, and two, that I can pray for them.

There is a boy at my school, a junior, whose stepdad apparently suddenly had a heart attack, and went into a coma immediately afterwards. It's so sad: right after school today, he apparently had to go to the hospital to watch his dad die. He looked like a ghost today; his face was drawn, he seemed like he was in a daze, and he didn't smile at all.It makes me sad to think of how terrible that must be for him.

And yet...

I have a difficult time praying for him because, well, to be frank, he's a bully. He laughs at me when I make mistakes in public, and turns it into a group joke. He makes fun of just about anyone who isn't a jock like him, especially the artsy dorky types. Sometimes his teasing makes me want to crawl under a rock and die, because he leads his entire grade in laughter at me. I fear public speaking in front of my school, because he and his friends find laughter in every word I say.

So pray for him, and also for my heart, so that I can forgive him.

Praying for both of you. This might be a good time to reach out and offer him comfort, even though he's hurt you in the past.

I prayed too. If I gave you advice I'd be ripping off Atria's hard work. But God bless him and you!

I'll pray for you sis. I understand how you feel. We naturally want something bad to happen to the people we dislike and when it happens, we feel terrible. Who knows? Maybe you two could end up becoming friends :).
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." Ephesians 2:1-7

I'll pray for you and him, sometimes it's hard to feel sad for or pray for people who have hurt us. We've all been there I'm sure.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

NIV, Romans 8:38-39.

Definately praying. Prayer for your enemies is one of the hardest things to do, but we always need a reminder of how human they are. You never know, during this time, if you give him comfort despite what he's done to you, there is a slight chance that the two of you might end up being friends.
"Because the World isn't as cruel as you take it to be." ~ Celty, Durarara!!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Here's a good chance for you to turn one of your enemies into one of your friends, if you're bold enough to step up to the job of comforting him, that is. The past is the past, every day starts new. So I encourage you, do pray for him, and do be willing to step out should the opportune moment arise.

I'll be praying for you. :D
