Christchurch took a major hit. It's one of NZ largest cities.

Yep- I have a friend on another forum who was in Christchurch when it hit. They're okay, thank goodness, and they didn't live there. But even so, that's scary.

creatureart and photosoph where from NZ, right? Anyone keep up with them enough (or at least remember where in NZ they were) to know if this affected them? Unfortunately I lost contact with both of them a while back. They immediately came to mind when I heard about this though.

I'll definitely be praying.

Earthquakes scare me a lot now that I live somewhere that experiences them frequently.

Sorry, SnoringFrog, I don't remember where they were from. I don't think it was Christchurch though, possibly Wellington.

Yes, this tragedy has been all over the news in Australia. 65+ people dead, many more injured and over 100 people missing. The city is in a state of great shock. They're definitely in my prayers.

I've got a feeling it was Auckland... so hopefully they're okay.
It looked pretty horrific... so many buildings were reduced to rubble, and so many people were trapped under them...

Because nothing spells "Wrath of God" better than smiting a place called Christchurch.

Some crazy stuff happening in the Southern hemisphere at the moment!

New Zealand was hit by a pretty bad earthquake only several months ago too, so they're really going through a rough time at the moment.

Hope those on CAA who live in NZ are okay along with family and friends, & will be thinking and praying for everyone over there!
