How's it going?

Postby Jake » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:27 pm

What's up everyone! As you can tell by my username, my name is Jake. I'm a fellow Christian anime fan just trying to get through life dependent on God's grace.

I found this place by Googling "Christian anime" or something like that. I was looking for fellow believers like myself who enjoyed watching anime as well. I look forward to discussing faith, anime, and perhaps how they intersect with you guys!

And this I pray, that your love would abound still, more and more with real knowledge and all discernment. Be prepared to preach the gospel at a moment's notice. Do you know the gospel well enough to do so yourself? Be ready.

Interests outside of anime: I'm a big football fan, particularly my hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons. I also enjoy reading, studying history (especially Roman and American), swimming, photography, and some other stuff.

Favorite movies: Jean de Florette, Manon des Sources, Christmas Vacation, and Leatherheads.

Video games: Final Fantasy VI, Valkyrie Profile 1 & 2, Final Fantasy IV, Super Smash Brothers, Super Mario Bros RPG, and Tales of Vesperia. (If you can't tell, I'm a huge RPG fan, as well as a big classic games fan).

I've played all levels of SSB. Yoshi is my primary main, though I also use Dedede, Pikachu, and Fox. Unfortunately, I'm out of commission at the moment. My Wii's either fried or just plain not working for some other reason.

My avatar is Misaki Ayuzawa from Maid-sama. The expression on her face in my avatar really stuck with me.

As for books, it's hard for me to pin one down (aside from the Bible, though I've always considered it more than just any ol' book). I read a lot of nonfiction books on history and politics. A lot of Roman history, but one book I recently enjoyed was The Rites of Spring by Modris Ecksteins on WWI and the birth of the modern age (dense stuff, but it's a good book if you can get through it). For fiction, I'd probably say the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.

And no, I don't mind the questions at all. It's quite interesting. :)

I have several favorite Bible verses. James 1: 2-18 and 1 Peter 5: 6-11 have gotten me through many tough times. Galatians 5:1 and Psalm 32 are great reminders for me of what God's grace and Christ's sacrifice are all about. Psalm 100 is a great hymn of praise. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 is a great summation of my basic perspective on life.

There are so many others, but I guess John 3:16 is only other one I'll mention (for obvious reasons). if I don't stop here, I could go on for a long time, heh.

I like to read, and I mentioned some of my favorite books in one of my earlier responses. :)
