In high school and college I did a lot of creative writing because I wanted to be a novelist. I still dabble in that today, but for the last few years, most of my projects have gotten abandoned about 1/4 of the way through. I'm okay with that, as I figure it's better for me to keep writing even if I never complete anything than to give it up entirely.

Mouse2010 (post: 1452582) wrote:I used to write mostly during the summer. I'd be terminally bored in the summer, so I'd just sit down and write a "novel" to keep my brain from rusting. I do have work to do over the summer now that I'm not a student, so I don't have the same amount of free time on hand, and I have other things that drain my free time. I think what happens is that I get really excited about a new idea, but once I get past the initial interest, it is too easy to walk away and do something else instead of spending the time writing past the rough spots in the story. So the moral of the story is that you should be self-disciplined about setting aside time to write, and then you can avoid my fate!
