Upon Vivian Androcles' return to ZODEAC, he was greeted with urgent and exciting news by an Oniru, nearly tripping over himself to reach him. "Triumvir Androcles, have you heard? The Regional Aphrikan Talks! They've been able to ratify an agreement in The Regional Aphrikan Talks!"

It is not without reason that Vivian responded to this message with a great cheer for joy, his euphoria echoing in every corner of ZODEAC and indeed Aphrike (Africa). The Regional Aphrikan (African) Talks was a meeting between all the leaders and representatives of the peoples of Aphrike (Africa). Initiated and led by the nation of ZODEAC, these talks were focused on ending years of broken community within the Aphrikan (African) continent, and replacing the jig-saw puzzle of entities with a continuum of freedom without the threat of violence from within. Within one act of unity and agreement, the people of Aphrike (Africa) had voiced their desire to stand side by side in facing the future - and without shedding one drop of blood, Aphrike had become one tribe.

With the signing of the African Unity Accords, ZODEAC in name grew to contain the entirety of the continent of Aphrike and the island of Madagascar. In the celebration of the joyous union, the streets and rooftops filled with cheers and ideas and goods began to flow outward as ZODEAC and her neighbors shared in the cornucopia of their common harvest.

Soon after the ratification of the AUA, it was agreed upon that a major council hall would be constructed in Edean for the newly inaugurated Council of Tribes to meet and discuss matters of trans-Aphrikan importance. More importantly however, there were wide-scale cultural changes that resulted from the AUA.

Ninja Monkeys and their ZODEAC co-species would now be participating in an open society, with guaranteed freedom for all species involved. Tribal villages were incorporated into the national map, no longer placed as restricted regions and Ninja Monkey residents slowly began to explore openly the surrounding territories of ZODEAC as years of tension between these two evaporated before each others eyes. Working together with Oniru, an economic alliance was formed early on to develop a major shipping port at Zoopolis, over the ancient cities of Soyo and Muanda. Zoopolis would provide a major shipping lane down the Styx (Congo) to various cities and the major regional population center at Dryas (Kisangani).

Furthermore, the northern regions vastly bolstered the nations Hume and Slith Population. A regional trade capital, Angustica, naturally formed here at the Strait of Gibraltar over the previous city of Tanger. Similarly, a second regional trade center would be located at New Alexandria, forming alongside it's NHRE counterpart near the Suez Canal. The two were growing quickly do to the potential for local enhanced economic advantages. Thus, even though there was a kind of tension between the northern territories and the NHRE, there was also a lot of trading and good will being spread.

The new South Aphrike additions likewise added a large population of Nekojin and Vesari to the ZODEAC culture. With a regional population center located at Delphi (Pretoria), they quickly became ZODEACs new bread-basket, using their wealth of arable land to grow a variety of foods in the temperate climate. In fact, this was the most developed of the regions acquired from the deal, as the jungles of the Congo and it's rather nimble inhabitants made roads an impossible achievement, while the northern deserts with their chaotic years of conflicts between nomads resulted in little infrastructure. And while these conditions did not continue to the East into Madagascar, the islands still kept a similar population makeup of Vesari and Nekojin which lived fairly prosperous lives in various costal towns. Madagascar was interesting for other reasons though, as supposedly deep in the mountains, there lived a tribe of war-mongering Lemurs, created long ago. However, these Lemur stories would remain for now and the future, a mere myth with an occasional unconfirmed sighting. No physical evidence of the Lemurs were ever found.

Meanwhile, Ragnarok Heavy Industries reported a pilot match for TEMMII; Lexya Valhalla, a young RFX-4 trainee with a very amicable personality. TEMMII immediately began to undergo pilot synchronization and short range chaos suppression missions. Most who watched Lexya perform these missions stared in amazement. Her skills as an RFX-4 pilot were above average, but once synced with MIKA (Military Intel Komputer AI), she seemed to transcend the physical limits of a biological pilot. Beyond incredible acrobatic capabilities in the air, Lexya commanded TEMMII to suppress several small chaos creatures around eastern Aphrike, while providing extensive combat commands to ground crews who quickly eliminated the threat.

Almost over-night she seemed to become the general of the army of ZODEAC, the greatest ace pilot in the nation and best set of "eyes" the world had ever seen - it was as though she had some kind of sixth, seventh and eighth senses at her disposal. After detachment however, she seemed to retain few of her previous capabilities. Dr. Bladeborne overlooked the project personally and according to the data he was collecting, he was positive that multiple sorties would soon be relegated to TEMMII to eradicate chaos from Aphrike once and for all. He did however, take special care to insure that Lexya was granted plenty of time off to spend with her friends and family, as he was well aware of just how important they were to supporting her endeavors and her soul. But he was confident enough in the project to declare that TEMMII would be fully ready for full combat operations against errant major chaos hotspots still remaining in Aphrike before the launch of the AESOP Surveillance Network.

(OOC: I meant to reply to JM's welcome immediately, but didn't, so I'll take the prestige hit to maintain continuity.)

[Constantinople]

*As the NHRE stood prepared to welcome the alien warship, the door of a large bay in the side of the ship began to open, shuddered, and stopped. It shuddered again, and fell silent. A minute later, a second door, in the back of the ship, tried to open, but did not manage more than a few millimeters. Minutes passed, five, ten, fifteen. Finally, after twenty-seven minutes, the NHRE received a transmission from the ship.*

Code: Select all
Whisperer in the Dark to NHRE representatives:

I thank you for your kind welcome, but, much as it pains me, I shall not be able to meet
you in person today. It seems that the door has become stuck, and will require some repair
before we can open it.

Please accept my apologies - we should be ready to try again in a few days.

With regrets,
Scaramouche, captain of the Whisperer in the Dark

[Whisperer in the Dark, main landing bay]

Scaramouche: What do you mean, we won't be able to open it?

Engineer: The frame is warped pretty badly, sir. We can't open the door without fixing the warp in the frame, and we can't fix the warp without additional material. Repair has eaten just about everything we can spare. Our hull is already spread too thin just to cover us and keep the air in, if we twist like we need to, it'll fracture, and we risk losing half the ship.

Captain: Eat the missile launchers.

Engineer: Sir?

Captain: The launchers, the loaders, the tubes - all of it. We're shot dry anyway - can we scavenge enough material to let us fix the warp?

Engineer: *visibly counting tonnage in his mind* I think we can, captain. I'll need to reconfigure the areas and run some simulations, but I think we can do it.

Captain: Do it.

[Constantinople harbor]

*Over the next week, the alien warship's skin visibly flowed across it, and it produced the most horrible creaks and groans as it realigned itself. Finally, the bay door opened again - this time, smoothly and silently. A second transmission reached NHRE ears.*

Code: Select all
Whisperer in the Dark to NHRE representatives:

I thank you for your patience, as we resolved certain technical difficulties. I would very
much like to meet with you in person, as this is now possible.

With happiness,

OOC: Charlie was missing in action after the return from his newly conquered region, this was originally pm, but yeah, it will be IC.

***Pascal***

IC: After the meeting between Charlie and Vivian, there was rumors going in the ZODEAC that Charles had very much taken an interest in expanding outside of Europe towards neutral territories. This proved to be true as Fredrick confirmed, thanks to a message received by Charles himself. That India and parts of Siberia had been acquired. Yet, the most disturbing development was the apparent off-grid disappearance of Vicelin's son, but what was even more disturbing was that the young emperor had been reported to be found inside Zodiac's own borders. Very wounded in fact, and clearly shaken. He did not escape the notice of others bound to spread the word around, but he had an old veteran following him. One of the twelve peers of the NHRE, who always had his face covered. The son had been requested immediate medical assistance due to burns inflicted by a greater chaos being, and the reason why he had gotten into the ZODEAC was related to a bandit raid which struck his return rather hard, and had to be smuggled out from Yemen to the nation of ZODEAC, however, he had also, in his wounded state, requested to talk to his friend. The peer, being with Charlie all the time knew that this would be Vivian.

Fredrick himself had contacted Vivian shortly after and explained that the emperor was both enraged and distressed when he heard of recent developments, but, after a good hour of calming him down, he was taken to reason. Fredrick had thus given Vivian a NHRE inter-cube, which was used to contact many high ranking officials by choice should they need too. It carried with it a high ranking seal given only to those who had personally achieved a high level of respect with the emperor himself. Once given, a live transmission was given by Charles himself, who had recently returned from another successful campaign. He was however, not in his best mood, but not angry either. If anything, there was a hint of sadness behind his tone as he gave the following transmission.

" I see my son has taken you as a friend..... He has good instincts, but like his father he aims for the moon with a slingshot. I am sorry I had to cancel my last meeting with you, it is not of my nature to be dismissive of arrangements. Yet, as we both know, we live in turbulent times. My son, I have been told, is in a stable condition, and, I have no other choice, but to request you take good care of him. He is the only thing I have left in this world that grants my heart any rest from chaos. I know my son thinks not much of me, and it is quite true that he has been left to more able care than what I could provide, yet, I fear for him. I fear he will become the ruler I am and not something better. I cannot say that my deeds have been wrong, although they feel as such and are, yet, they bring results needed. And, results are needed now more than ever, more than mere vision is required. My son never knew his mother, and I have never told him of her. When he was younger, I hardened his heart so that he would never be harmed same as I was. When he became older, I saw that he had a talent. The same I had, only brighter. Yet, I've rarely spoken to him in all these years, and, I think it is fair that he cannot consider me as a father, even though I am trying to make him into the perfect father of a nation. This, it seems, is were I need your help. I learned of respect, but never made any real friends. I learned how to make others prosper, but I never learned what it was like to receive help. I learned how to encourage troops and fill their hearts with desire to protect that which they love, but only learned how to articulate said love".

The emperor sighted, then continued. " I guess what I am asking you is that you learn my son what it is to be human. And, I ask you for your help. I have buisness to attend too.... as always. Endless, tireless buisness. So, I leave my son in your care. Also, congratulations on unifying Africa"......

With this, the emperor cut the transmission after a quick salute. He seemed burdened at this point in time, yet, in a hospital bed someplace near. Charlie would have contacted severe burns over his torso as well as an unknown, acid like substance that would not easily be removed. He would be hoping to speak with Vivian.

OOC: And yet, another dual post.

***Kali***

IC: Charles Vicelin had returned to Contantinople. Although Europe was his, there was something amiss. Raids conducted on his nation had been initialized which troubled him, although a financial giant at the time as well as the military super-power of the day. Charles set his sight on constructing a sphere of influence not only to counter Chaos that seemed to become ever more restless by the day, but also to ensure his sovereignty and a home for the remaining humans living in harmony, but on their general terms throughout Europe and beyond. However, harmony needed to be tempered with security, and the raids now had forced Vicelin's hand, he would have to take action.

Vicelin had taken the liberty of constructing several massive cranes and infrastructural support for the Whisper in the Dark as well as loading up massive amounts supplies. Assistance in repairs would likely be more effective now. The large cargo ships were sent on the sea, and once again, the HMS unconquerable lead them. Charles Vicelin sent the following transmission using the intercube.

" I've taken the liberty of gathering a great deal of infrastructure and supplies for the coming repairs, with all hope they will speed things up. The HMS unconquerable is now in range of the former bay which did not manage to open. It will be good to finally meet you".

After Lady Acela received a friendly response from ZODEAC while on her return trip to Ark, she sent word ahead to her head diplomat, Tifer Li. She gave him all the details of how she wished the negotiations with ZODEAC to go, but trusted his own judgement on how to handle things. Tifer bowed to Lady Acela, assuring her all would be well, and set out to make his travel preparations. Though, despite his best efforts, he was still twitching with excitement at the opportunity to travel abroad and not as a part of the military. He was much happier with this job.

Tifer soon set out for ZODEAC, accompanied by two escorts. He wished for more because he wanted to seem more regal, but General Flyn wouldn't give have it ("You were in the army yourself, you don't need anymore." Flyn had said. He just didn't understand...). Yet, Tifer's spirits would not be dampened. After hearing about all the exciting things about ZODEAC and it's diverse citizens, Tifer's ears just twitched with excitement. He had also promised Lady Acela an account of everything he saw and heard, so he had to stay attentive. He finally arrived in New Alexandria.

To Save A Life Pt I

Postby Dante » Sun Jan 09, 2011 7:14 am

Charlie had landed near the great port at Djibouti, the city was very prosperous in it's own right and so first rate medical care was a certainty. The young man had missed freedom's gate by a hair, as any greater chaos being near Djibouti would have been detected by the combination of local Aegis Cruisers, if not the TEMMII Titan System. Independent of who he was or claimed to be, hospitals in ZODEAC would attempt to provide the best care possible for anyone found in such a state. But upon finding out whom it was, word was immediately passed on to Vivian resulting in the situation as it was conveyed.

While the latest academic resources and experimental research was available in Edean, it was determined that it would be safer to keep him in Djibouti for the time being. The Oniru Doctors looked on the situation with deep sorrow, "If he was any older, there would be no way to heal from such a sharp attack, but young humans are resilient, so there is chance he'll pull through. For now all we can do is work to heal the wounds, attempt to find a way to neutralize the substance and numb the pain." doctor Asclepius said, looking sadly at Vivian. At the soonest possible juncture, Vivian had traveled to Djibouti to see Charlie, but his condition was simply too severe for him to enter the room, and truth be known, he'd be too out of it to know what was happening.

"So... are you saying that he might not make it? You honestly can't mean that, I know he looks bad, but... I know we can heal burn wounds!" Vivian cried out, heart-ached by the image burned in his eyes.

"I'm afraid that may be the case; it's simply the nature of chaos, their poisons and their bite are simply too great for Hume- for anything to fight off. We do the best we can, and we often perform miracles, but we can't grantee them. " The Oniru shook his head, "I've been working on trying to find a cure to reverse these chaos effects for years, more then you'll be alive certainly, but so far, all I have are a bundle of myths, old writ about some fantasy land called "Lux" and the "Shining Guard". It seems that every creature has been outsmarted by this strange abomination in animal kingdom, and all are so equally perplexed that all they can do to cope is to write myths about great heroes that are themselves not fully able to contain the threat. So if even the ancients lost hope in their gods, heroes or whatever you want to call them, then any progress we make at all is nothing short of a miracle and we should be grateful at that.

Suddenly, Vivian's mind was yanked to a conversation several days back during a conversation between Dr. Blazeborne and himself.

"Yes, TEMMII, well Lexya, is making great progress with synchronization, although it's turning out for most to be an experiment producing rather interesting results. She certainly has incredible potential at stopping any foe that attacks our borders, she can direct and coordinate an entire army with absolute perfection, using the entire military as her attack arsenal if she wills. But..."

Vivian remembers Dr. Blazeborne say, as he suddenly saw his own furry face pop in from the side of his blurry memory, as though he were watching from third person, "But... what? There isn't anything wrong right, and I've even heard she can calculate how to win a conflict in a region with minimal casualties... evil as that sounds in and of itself I mean-"

"Why yes, of course Vivian. Although MIKA was quite shocked to hear us request such a thing," Dr. Bladeborne went on.

"Who?"

Dr. Bladeborne looked back puzzled for a moment, "Oh? MIKA, yes, that's the onboard computer AI, incredibly more advanced then anything on the market today. It's as though we were living in the stone age..." Dr. Bladebore leaned over on his own lap, arms folded, as he held his glasses with one hand. "but what I mean to say was TEMMII might serve you better Vivian, as a hope for all, more then a military defense alone. Her sensors are designed specifically for detection, neutralization and coordination for eradication of Chaos. Although her onboard computer has discussed multiple means of launching a successful defense against the NHRE, it is the strategy that only you can implement that may indeed save the world from falling into endless cycles of war, death and rebirth. I speak of course, of using TEMMII to stop chaos, to heal this world with good, instead of fighting evil with evil."

The conversation ended with great excitement and Vivian was very happy to here that this creation he feared as a work of death, but needed for protection, might be able to achieve the same end through peaceful means. Today, he hoped to put that hope to practice. After getting away from the doctor, he moved to a private line, where he contacted Triumvir Gildas.

"And after all our efforts to keep it a secret, you're going to blow it all on the chance to use it on a high ranking official of the NHRE! Never mind the risk of what could happen if something happens to him and they blame us, that could be taken as an assassination! No Vivian, I cannot consent to your request to utilize our Titan Project for this purpose!" It was obvious that Gildas wasn't too pleased with what he was hearing his fur certainly was on end and Vivian could imagine the old Oniru's scowl as vividly as he could hear his bark from the phone.

"But if the EDF can do this, we could save the life of a key representative of the NHRE! And it's our calling to do whatever we can to help anyone in our land, independent of what they believe, so ultimately that includes him as well. If TEMMII could be used to reverse chaos effects, we have to try!" Vivian pleaded as his ears peeled back, as though he could convey facial expressions himself over the phone.

This conversation went on for hours with multiple calls and requests, until at long last the resistance broke - and it would be a very tired Oniru who would be the one to give in. Thus, during the early hours of the morning, TEMMII arrived, under the requirements of full stealth mode and cloak and with good distance too boot. It was all that Vivian would be able to argue for, it would have taken a century to gain an inch more - and centuries weren't at hand, neither for Vivian, nor for Charlie.

From the distance, TEMMII would appear like a shimmer of heat, almost a dark shadow in the air. Lexya watched the situation with care from her current position as MIKA made her so well aware of her position that she may as well have been privy to all the details. "I have detected the anomalous chaos signature within the given coordinates... why am I targeting a hospital? Has there been a chaos contamination inside? I don't see any current electronic signals indicating an evacuation in progress within the area- instead I see multiple hotspots for simple conversations."

"Lexya, the situation should be fine now that you're here we figured, plus we don't count it as a major threat." Lexya's "CO" stated, all too unsure of his own capabilities in comparison to the computationally enhanced Vesari.

"No. No, it shouldn't be a threat, the signature is too weak to even be alive, or at least it should be able to be killed with the least amount of force. Ah, that's it, it seems we're using the EDF to target an infected region of a Hume male youth - someone seems to be talking about him next door. You should have told me this sir, I could fix the parameters of the EDF targeting mechanism to minimize local damage and I could certainly get up closer to-"

"Absolutely not, it is a mission critical object that you move no further into the city then your current position. Can you, or can you not target the infected region." The CO stated in some amount of unhappiness... it was fairly obvious that Lexya would be getting a new commander soon, and Vivian had personally selected one of his many friends that could see eye-to-eye with a Vesari far better.

"I might be able to, but the distance will minimize any effect I have, and my synchronization levels just aren't up to par. It certainly couldn't hurt, preparing charge for the EDF central core... I have lock, I will utilize the EDF to help dissolve the chaos infection in the region at your command sir."

"Affirmative. Fire."

"MIKA recommends that a better term for this operation would be "heal" sir, with all do respect. Taking direct action." ... "Chaos signature has been neutralized, but I can't tell if I did any good in breaking it down in a manner to help the doctors at that location, why is it so important to stay outside of the city - I haven't used this level of personal security since we tested the software. Who exactly was that?"

"Affirmative Lexya, RTB..."

Over the next couple of nights, as doctors submitted Charlie to several major procedures, the boys condition would began to decline. It was only by the grace of his youth, and the nullification from TEMMII that he was able to survive the shock to his body at all. Needless to say, they had him so deeply out of things, that he would be completely unable to feel or remember anything much from the episodes accept a string of memories - in which Vivian would appear in several, looking more tired as the memories persisted. The doctors had scolded the Triumvir to return home on multiple occasions citing his lack of presence in the Triumvirate as a key concern to the nation. But since Charles had told him that the boy had taken him as a friend, he felt deeply compelled to, as he put it in his mind, act like one.

Eventually Charlie would grow stable in his condition and it was determined that the burn unit in Edean would better suit him then the emergency room where he had been staying. So both Vivian and Charlie would both return to Edean - where they would both find a short time of rest.

Upon returning to the world of the living, Charlie would be met with a ZODEAC style hospital - which is somewhat different from the one's we're accustomed to. In the tradition of ZODEAC in healing sickness, a place of rest from severe shock to the body, is a place of warmth, and the ill are to be treated with the highest dignity and kindness - as their journey to here may be the last they take in this world. His room would be just slightly cool with warm air rolling from an artificial fire-place, whose flame and crackle were but an illusion. The walls were made of warm stone-work and the floors of sealed wood that could be quickly cleaned, sanitized and wiped for spills, but tactically nice to the touch.

While his wounds would insist that he have no shirt, but merely bandages protecting the burns from outside infection or painful contact, he would awake to find himself in flannel pants, with a T-shirt folded nearby and a pair of cheap sandels for future days when he felt more able to walk.

The clouds outside would reflect off plump plaid colored blankets on his bed, and a removable wooden frame edged the outside of the mobile frame. His head, had well soaked the back of his twin feather pillows with sweat from fever (soon to be changed out) and a cool damp cloth rested upon his forehead. As was necessary to avoid dehydration, checking vitals and other such aspects, he had an IV in his left arm - he would of course feel somewhat dizzy from the medications that numbed the pain, but this would have to remain for a while as his burn wounds healed from their trauma to avoid submitting his mind to further trauma.

He could feel that underneath of his many bandages were various sabs and creams, which worked away tirelessly in their own right to heal the damage done to his body, protect against infection and to repair the visual scaring that would come with that healing. To his left was another boy, a Vesari, somewhat like Vivian, who had broken a few bones from a bad spill in "running the roofs". they had both been assigned a young Oniru nurse, who kept watch over their health and well being. She brought Charlie warm soups from the kitchen, or simply acted to calm his fears - it was true that no one was getting any special treatment above anyone else, but there was sufficient care for all.

His sickness certainly left no question that this was not a fond memory, but there was plenty of time to talk and rest the mind and the body. The young Oniru nurse would often come in and simply sit with both of them, so they could talk and share the experience of living. Tales of adventures and mis-adventures explored themselves here as a kind of anesthetic to the mental pain while their ever present respective doctors and nurses took every opportunity to ease the pain of their journey from sickness into health.

It would turn out that Vivian wouldn't be able to attend for the first few days after Charlie had woken up - but Triumvir Alexander Gildas was certainly able to attend. "Ah, yes Vivian. I'm afraid you've gone and made him ill too. While you were back in Djibouti, he was working around the clock fighting for various things. I'm certain he'll want to stop by and see you when he can, but right now he's resting at home and I think it's better for him to rest."

Another odd visitor was a younger Vesari woman, a bit older then Charlie, but younger then Vivian. She was dressed in a leisurely pilot's suit and seemed to smile when she saw him, it was rather odd as she told simply told him that it was her pleasure to help him before leaving with several friends who were cheerfully chatting away about going to the mall - completely different from the solemness of her composure a minute ago. Soon though, he was being brought from bed and helped around in getting back on his feet again by an odd rarity, a kind Urnak nurse, who would prove far more helpful as a steady hand then his Oniru co-worker.

That evening, the bed to his left had become empty as the other Vesari had healed of most of his injuries and was returning back to life. He left Charlie a phone number as well as an open invitation to friendship - he made it clear that he wanted to keep up communications by calling Charlie on the phone that night from home. The next day though, Triumvir Vivian finally got his strength back together. He wasn't sure himself how long he'd stayed in bed and his whiskers were all out of whack on his face. But as soon as he got himself together he called to find out about Charlie as he had tried to do whenever he had awoken - he had done the same for Fredrick as well, both in secret.

So the next morning, Vivian showed up with a light knock on the door. "I hope I'm not too much trouble at the moment, it's me, Vivian. I wanted to stop by as soon as I could. I'm so sorry that you're in this state, I was hoping you could have come by and enjoyed having adventures here; not like this. Not that I would want this to happen to you anywhere. Dr. Asclepius says you seem to be doing well and has tried to assure me that you're not in any pain - so far as he can heal. But I had to come down to see for myself - how are feeling... you know, for going through what you have? I'll happily stay if you want too, I wouldn't mind keeping you company at all - I didn't know they had left you alone in here, they had mentioned something about someone else being here, so I felt I could take just a little rest as I seem to have worn myself too thin."

[Constantinople]

*With the forward landing bay now open, a small shuttle emerged. It approached the NHRE flagship slowly, and came to land on one of the HMS Unconquerable's landing platforms. As the shuttle's door opened, three Aikon emerged. Two of them were attired in white military dress uniforms, but the leader's uniform was dark red. He had dishwater-grey hair, gathered loosely in a queue, and solidly iridescent purple eyes.*

Charlie had only been awake for a few minutes, but seemed overjoyed at the appearance of Vivian. Although for the moment, his skin color seemed drained, his voice having a fairly lighter pitch than usual. He seemed to at the very least be in a stable condition. Although he was permanently marked from the strange chaos substance that had hit his body, his life had been saved, and for the most part, besides being exceptionally weak at the moment, he seemed rather happy. Laying as still as one could imagine, having his eyes fixed on Vivian. He smiled, and replied with the following.

" I.... I am fine Vivian. I just took an ever so small tumble......"

He coughed gently at this moment, hold his mouth. It did release small traces of blood that earlier would have been worse. Yet, despite this. He still had a fairly weak smile. He did indeed seem happier than their first meeting in New Jerusalem. Strangely enough, his left eye had altered it's eye color slightly at this point altered towards red. It could only be a side effect of the chaos he had experienced first-hand. Yet, his memory was not the best at the moment. He once again looked at Vivian while resting his head.

" I.... I was not home was I?"

At this moment, the door opened once again behind Vivian and inside came Fredrick, who at this moment had regenerated enough to be walking around again in good health. He had seen that his body could however not support itself as he could in days before and taken the liberty to acquire a walking cane. He did not mind this, and as usual, he seemed rather happy, indeed, overjoyed when he saw that the young emperor's heir was alive. He walked towards him as quick as he could, went down on his knees nearby and praised God he was alive. He just as quickly stood up and turned towards Vivian, saying with a rather pleased tone.

" I thought he was done for when I heard the news. I really did, yet, you somehow saved him! I was very afraid what would happen if he had not managed to pull through, as Charles himself contacted me several times demanding an update. I have never seen the emperor so concerned regarding anything ever before. Every 15 minutes he would call, and every 15 minutes we would both pray for the best. Yet, here he is, alive and well. I promised Punja I would show her if things went alright, as she said there would be no chance of him pulling through. Oh, and Punja is the head of Baptista's scientific division. A different type of breed of humans and neko-jin's in fact."

Fredrick then joyfully looked down at Charles. Who was at this point also glad to see Fredrick, but saved his strength so he could speak a bit later. Fredrick examined the marks around Charlie. Expressing great joy that he seemed to be in good health. " Oh God, I thank you, I thank you with all my heart you spared the emperor's child. All the reports, all of the uncertainty. It is gone, and not a single prob...."

*At this moment, Fredrick discovered the red part of Charlie's eye. His mood suddenly changed drastically. Into near shock even. He then, rather rashly looked at the side of Charlie's head and discovered that some of the burn marks indeed were not burn marks. It was a new growth and a hardening of his skin, which would only grow harder and more black as time would go on. Indeed, his body was in an early stage of a chaos mutation. How far this mutation would go, no one could say.*

Fredrick fell a bit from the bed. His body was trembling with fear. " Good God...... No... This cannot be happening".

Just as this was said. Fredrick's intercube was launching from his belt. Fredrick, knowing that this would be Charles. Quickly grabbed some of the spare band-aid he was carrying and patched the eye of Charlie. A second later, Charles Vicelin was on the inter cube and looked to find Charlie lying on the bed, his eye patched, and in a stable condition. He looked very pleased. He kissed the small, wooden cross he carried. He gave a polite nod towards Vivian and looked at Charlie, who pretended not to have noticed his appearance at the moment. At the very same time, two more intecubes were launched. One showing Baptista, looking happy enough as always albeit his priest robes covered the most of his face, and a neko jin with pink hair and two pink tails in a hybrid biohazard suit. She looked at Charlie and said with a rather impressed tone.

" See Baptista? I've told you that the Vesari would be light years ahead of us on the medical field! You should not underestimate them so much just because they always seem to outsmart you"!

To this Baptista chuckled and gave a slight bow. " You are indeed right Punja, and I find myself once more in awe of the Vesari and their accomplishments. Perhaps the peer was right to bring him here after all".

Punja chuckled lightly as she heard this from Baptista. " Acknowledging the feats of anyone, but the emperor? You are indeed going soft Baptista. You should consider going back into the military field, it would be the only thing that could twist someone like you into something so abominable".

Baptista looked up so he could see directly in to the Intercube. " Sadly, you would find that it was not by gritty boots or rotten dungeons that left the most negative impression upon me. That would be in rooms, along with people that had polished nails, smart suits and enough envelopes with cash to permanently feed the third world of that time, but enough about my good company. How is the young emperor doing"?

Charlie muttered with a weak voice to Fredrick and Vivian, but not weak enough for it to go entirely unnoticed by Charles the following.

"Get them away from here....".

Fredrick turned towards Charles and said the following. " Your highness, as you can see, your blood has done him much good in this most dangerous battle, yet, you must not stress him anymore with your appearance, and that goes for the rest of you as well. He is very exhausted, and while there is no threat to him now, I'd kindly request that you all contact him later when he is in a good enough condition to talk more freely."

Baptista was the first to sign off, after giving Vivian a rather grim smile. Charles, seemed to understand what Charlie was signaling. Simply nodded with a very decreased mood and his intercube was turned off. However, Punja who, had studied the images of Charlie and seen the growth replied with the following.

" I did not know corrupted were being taken in as venerable saints at this day and age."

Fredrick turned towards Punja and said in a rather angry tone. " Punja! Keep your ill humor at bay! If Charles found out about this, at best he would tear out that eye right there and then"!

Punja chuckled. " The father-son relationship is as healthy as ever I see. Oh well, if I've scanned this correctly he is in the early stages of an indefinite mutation. How bad it is I cannot say. He could become a full blood corrupted with no mind of his own, or his exterior will change with time and only mildly alter his brain. He is young, and this won't help him in this particular instance. Regardless, this is the cruelest twist of fate I've heard of in a while, and after losing his daughter, he will now see his son turn into the very thing he presumes to be fighting! Ahahaha! The incredible irony!"

Fredrick was horrorfied, and yes, he could be seen shaking to some degree at this point. He did however bravely respond with the following. " Ms Punja, you know as well as me that it may produce hardly any results at all. Surely fate will give us at least one break, and do not laugh about this matter, as it is the most devastating blow on a purely moral standpoint the empire has yet to have! For God's sake! If Charles Vicelin hears of this! Who knows what kind of effect it would have on him?! He might do anything, or everything he would otherwise refrain from doing"!

Punja nodded. " And I will collect enough data to go down in history as the greatest mind of all as I observe the world burn. I would not worry, Baptista would probably be able to pull whatever strings he would see needed to run the empire as he would be the only one able to reason with Charles at such a point. With good reason mind you. Anyhow, consider yourselves blackmailed for favors to be mentioned later. I got a chaos code to crack and you got a ticking time-bomb on your hands which you can only disguise for that long. As far as I know, Charles really do not care what level of corrupted a corrupted being is. After his experience with General Jade he will never trust anything from that side of the isle ever again, nor should he in my humble opinion. Anyhow, have fun trying to cover this up".

*She abruptly ended the call. At this point, Charlie had tears in his eyes, although he had not moved his head all that much which was rested on the side. He was too weak to turn at this moment.*

Fredrick then went to Charlie and sighted, leaning down next to him. " Don't listen to them Charlie. We both know you are the only master of your own fate. These events change nothing. Not your faith, not your fate, not your way of life. I.... I guarantee you, on my life that we will find a way to make this work. On my life Charlie, I give you this promise."

Charlie sniffed. It was clear he understood what was going on, and how hopeless the promise given to him seemed.

New Alexandria was a point of contact between two very different cultures, eternally separate, but intimately close, like water flows on oil. Here, Tifer Li and his two companions would arrive in with private fanfare at the local airport. From the tarmac, they were able to observe a flurry of activity going on in the city, with cranes and creatures moving too and fro. Agile Vesari were seen quickly running tools across the skeletal frames of buildings - ever working with their Hume and Slith counter-parts to give birth to an entire city. The air outside was cool and crisp, remaining steady at 21˚ C, with the sun shining down from a clear pale-blue sky. In the background, a small quartet of woodwinds and strings, played the anthem for the nation of Ark and Hume, Oniru, Vesari, Urnak, Nekojin and Slith were all standing, lowering their heads in a slight bow with lowered ear or paw on either side of a red carpet leading to a wizened older Vesari, who seemed filled with life, despite the fact that he was living in the last years of his life. On either side of the aircraft, were two banners for both the Nation of ZODEAC and the Nation of Arc, side by side to his right and left. As he moved forward, the old Vesari walked with a smile towards him as well, having a slight limp to his movements from arthritis pain, which caused him to hold the side of his leg on occasion.

Once within handshaking distance the old Oniru reached out to hold the Neko's paw, smiling at the youthful features he had long since lost, but still holding dearly to bright twinkle in his eye. His ears seemed excited to meet Tifer as they stood up and his tail swayed rapidly from side to side.

"So this is the young neko they have sent to us, how it pleases me to welcome you to New Alexandria my young friend, Tifer. My ears still seem to grab at any sound, so I should be able to respond to Aemilius if you would like to call me by name. I have been given the silly role of mayor here, so it seemed only right for me to come, and I can tell you that it has certainly been worthwhile. I have heard good tidings of The Nation of Ark, and I have been blessed with many good neko-jin friends, and now hopefully a few more. I wish to personally welcome you and your kin from Ark with open arms to New Alexandria and to ZODEAC. Triumvir Vivian and Gildas are still a little late in coming from Edean, they should be arriving within the next fifteen or so minutes. I'm certain that they will want to talk to you no end; but after flying half-way around the world and with a wealth of time, I figured that you might need a day or even two to acclimate to a new time zone and look around to explore on your own."

"Being a major center of trade, there are quite a few places to go and see, even if the Hume population here isn't as accustomed to fun as Vesari from Edean are. It is still a good city though and it has many high hopes for a future that I will help build, but I will have to enjoy from the next realm."

Just as Aemilius finished saying this, a second plane came to a halt on the runway, lowering a walkway down which was quickly followed by Triumvir Gildas and Vivian. The Oniru seemed to be mumbling something about a lack of respect from the airlines, while the Vesari seemed in his typically upbeat mood, laughing about the whole thing. As they stopped over on the side of Tifer, Vivian and Gildas gave a slight bow, lowering there ears before Vivian began to apologize, "It seems we were just a bit late, I look forward to getting to know you!" Vivian said, "Please forgive any misunderstandings in culture, as I've noticed that greetings seem to vary where-ever we go. But if I may, I am Vivian Androcles and this is Alexander Gildas, your friendly Triumvir's of the ZODEAC. I take it that you must be Tifer, but I didn't catch the names of your companions, as I'm pleased to make their acquaintance as well."

"Of course, my name should not be mistaken for the origin of this cities title, mind you." Gildas interupted, "It would do me an injustice to have such a city built with so few libraries... although I do like the smell of business around here. It seems like it could lead to quite a few good opportunities; and to be honest, with the recent signing of the African Unity Accords I haven't even gotten the chance to see it yet... or many of our fine new additions. We have a fairly good population of Neko-jin in ZODEAC, most of which live in Madagascar and the southern portion of Africa. To say the least, they been one of our more favored blessings here and after viewing the noble nature of your nations pursuit of progress and the well being of others, I am nigh on certain that we have a lot in common. To some extent, you were even the inspiration for the African Unity Accords, as we didn't even consider such a pursuit possible until then. So then, perhaps we could have some good food and drink now, have some rest tonight as Aemilius here has suggested, and tomorrow we can get to the exciting opportunity of learning about each others' cultures and dreams for our nations. Of course, you shouldn't feel compelled to hold anything off either; we simply agree that such a long flight is quite difficult. Whatever you think is best in respecting your bodies and souls. (GM: Update you must read and Combat explained. Oh, and this is a late edition but, from this day forward, those decimal points in the updates I've been sending. Yeah, they are disappearing. Basically, I was trying to be way to accurate with economic scores and ignored the simple fact .32 economic units does absolutely nothing in this system. So, from this day forward, I'm going to be rounding those amounts to the nearest unit. Also, expect some technology lists being sent to you pretty soon so you have a better idea as to what your tech actually does.)

Saving Pacifica Pt. I

Zarn wrote: To the leaders of the New World,

I'm sure we haven't met before and if it were up to me, I would keep it that we. My people have become very secretive for our safety as well as yours but now, events have conspired that have forced my hand. The beasts that have lived around you for all these years, are not what they seem. They are a remnant of something we fought long ago called Chaos. They have taken something from me and my people namely, the lives of our friends and families and they have desecrated our cities which are sacred to us. They have existed since before your civilizations or the civilizations that existed before them. This is a sight which we cannot stand and yet, we are exhausted from the fight we have been fighting. So, we ask you to help us drive these creatures from these Oceans and free us from their grasp. Please, help us if you can.

Signed,

The Illustrious Emperor of Pacifica
Zarn Ishtare

The tape finished playing in the hall of the Triumvirate, it was evening in Edean and no one had come to expect this. "Our AESOP COM satellites picked that up just this afternoon, from off the coast of the Rozenhelm Empire. The AESOP Surveillance satellites have found no surface vessels or re-transmitters that could possibly be sending this signal and the distortions suggest it is coming from far below the waves - as in a literal city below the water. Naturally, I requested a meeting with you as soon as possible." Lieutenant General, Jonathon Cyrus finished as his whiskers twitched from some itch dust in the air. "In other words, we have no reason to believe this to be fake- but so far we have no records of any civilizations with the technological capability to live so deep beneath the water. We were researching various technologies, but we seem to be alone according to our understanding.

"This is very interesting Lieutenant General, but it's possibility doesn't seem entirely suspect." Triumvir Gildas began, "Some time ago, we came into the acquisition of a large space-craft. It has allowed us to rapidly deploy the AESOP communications and surveillance satellites. With several successful missions already under it's belt, it will soon be launching both a weather satellite and a recon satellite in the future. The recon satellite is being built to assess what extent of the ancient legends may prove true. That is, because the shuttle itself, along with our latest TEMMII Titan System, appear to be nothing short of developments from an age long since past - literal artifacts of the Imperium of Man."

"So if chaos was to strike in a cataclysmic event as described by the ancients, then it may indeed be true that Pacifica broke off from it's union with the Imperium of Man and sought refuge beneath the ocean." Lieutenant General Cyrus concluded for them.

"That could very well be true. But as we all know, chaos has continued to evolve and has most likely reached even these depths, Triumvir Androcles continued, "It is unfortunately possible that not even these depths have been safe, even when defended by the ancients. Of course, according to Dr. Bladeborne, they were never able to acquire the technology in TEMMII."

"What an incredible revalation, so all the stories I once read in books...", Jonathon pondered this for a moment, "Unfortunately they are quite far away and we lack submersibles to be able to provide for an evacuation, even though our Aegis Cruisers should have the sensory and military technology to be able to detect and destroy localized chaos units, further precautions could also be taken that could nigh on assure our victory. But the question is whether or not they'll be able to survive until we arrive - if that is your decision."

"We've never held ourselves from destroying these chaos beasts in the past, and it has been far too long since we've truly tested our mettle against theirs. Even though I'm not entirely fond of rescue missions, it could grant us a powerful opportunity to impress upon the Hume of north Aphrike, the importance of military service in defense of their species. Furthermore, I would be interested to see a live fire test of our military capabilities - particularly our latest acquisitions as you've keenly noted Oniru Lieutenant General." Triumvir Galzorgan declared with a strong sense of pride that ZODEAC would finally be able to show the world a small fraction of it's military might.

"Likewise, I must agree - but if we can't use our full strength in the water to crush chaos, we can send funding so that they can develop weapons of their own making to defend against those vial creatures, and it could produce a valuable return at that. Thus, I concur that we should aid them militarily as I believe we should aid them significantly with finances due to the potential for incredible new markets that could result here. After all everyone, no one has ever found a way to mine and live off the bottom of the ocean, there could be much to learn from these Pacificans and many new markets to be had!" Triumvir Gildas chimed in with much excitement.

"Likewise, I too feel a strong sense of urgency for any that call for our help, we would have no one fall to the evils of chaos run rampant. If we leave these souls to fall today, tomorrow those same beasts will crawl up upon our shores and for our cold hearts we would surely deserve it. Thus, I too concur and I am happy to see that we are all in agreement that we should defeat this vial foe. Thank you, Lieutenant General Cyrus, if you can secure a reply channel for us, we will soon provide a reply, prepare the forces for a short term deployment to rid the world of an unnecessary evil! Let us show our potential to use the weapons of the hunt to rid the world of the great antagonist of life!" Triumvir Androcles finished. And so it was determined that a response needed to be sent to the nation of Pacifica via the AESOP com satellite system, agreeing to aid and providing details of their nations ability in the hopes that they might be able to help.

\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ CLASSIFIED / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
Greetings Pacifica,

We of the nation of ZODEAC would like to let it be
known that we have heard your plea for aid and being
only mortal as you, we do seek to come to your aid as we
can. We have wired ZODEAC gil over to your nation
in the form of a national investment so that your nation
may produce the funds needed to wage war against chaos
tomorrow, and so that you might be able to produce an army
that is capable of turning back the forces of chaos today.

Likewise, we would also like to aid with our military
forces, however we would first need to know
the current state of affairs, what forces you have
to defend yourself against chaos (after you utilize our
funds to your needs) and what kind forces we
would need to project to defeat these foes.

Would, for instance, a fleet of 32 Aegis Cruisers
that we can currently begin to deploy to your
position from ZODEAC, suffice for the current situation?
They have an incredibly advanced sensor array that would
aid your forces in detecting chaos, torpedo tubes for destroying
under-water targets and anti-air and anti-ship missiles.
If localized surface targets are a problem, we
can also send these units with attack and recon
helicopters and if defense is needed in your cities
themselves we are even willing to deploy our ground
forces to the region to aid in rebuking these enemies
of mankind - but we would need a means of
transportation in order to reach your cities,
as they seem to be located deep beneath the waves.

Finally, we are undergoing testing of a special
operations unit that should nullify the chaos effects
of the region. It has shown incredible results recently,
and should it work as well on your enemies, the forces
of chaos should easily fall before our combined stand.
However, even we do not know what tomorrow will bring]

In Acre, there had been a recent outbreak of important intel. Yet, Punja and Baptista had been working extraordinarily hard on a new project. One that would change the very fabric of war as it was known. An entirely new strategic entity was being developed with a very specific purpose of making an entire environment itself fight against an enemy. Needless to say, Punja was having a blast with the new NHRE commissioned testing zone, which allowed experiments to be utilized freely on people found guilty of both the highest and second highest order of offenses. As well as a clause that would pardon any prisoner should they risk a single experiment. Despite the rather conservative approach in a massive technology-race, there was no shortage of offenders or people willing to risk some in order to cut their sentence with a great deal of years. With recent data acquired in the Chaos attack, significant research was also being put into anti-chaos properties. Yet, the one least enthusiastic about this was Baptista, who believed that the enemy had both a name and a face, and wished to challenge the world rather than merely destroy it. To destroy the lesser and greater chaos units however, this research might prove extraordinarily important. However, the most controversial of programs launched at this time was considered to be the purifier. Designed to alter chaos to a weaker state, it also proved to create a distortion field which made it nearly ideal for free genetic manipulation on the medical field. It had created abominations and done medical wonders, but it was a very fragile distortion field that affected both chaos and the biological at the moment, but the potential for increasing it's density was limitless.

Despite all the advances, the NHRE was quite interested in investing further so that they could supply their research division with greater manpower and maneuverability. It was a strictly technocratic administration which currently distributed the funds. And much more would be needed in the future. There was also rumors going on about a new super weapon being developed, with references to the old testament even. It was part of the division which was strictly supervised by Baptista, Charles and Punja and it promised to deliver a new weapon that would spark new fear into the hearts of the enemies the NHRE would have.

However, the message from Zarn's plea had reached the ear of Baptista at this point. Punja seemed thrilled for the possibility to be working with a former force that might have kept archives of past tech. Baptista however, seemed more concerned that the relation between Charles who rebelled openly against Zarfef in order to form the empire and stop the hordes of chaos could indeed be complicated even further by assisting Zarfef's brother. Baptista, in his usual style. Decided that a blind outreach towards a potential enemy was a poor choice as he would fight tooth and nail to ensure that the new Alliance, composed by the New Holy Roman Empire, The Nation of Ark and the Rosy empire would be equally cautious towards this new faction. Being stretched and fighting chaos, there would be a good chance he would need their help as well in order to fight chaos and, being identified as a very potential danger, was sent the following message from the citizens NHRE office of external affairs. Probably with Baptista's blessing meant to troll someone not reaching out enough to warrant support.

*"Hello, thank you for registering your concern with the new and improved Holy Roman Empire. Unfortunately, due to large interest being taken in our nations affairs. Our leaders will not be able to serve at your convenience. However, should you choose to hold the line, our representatives will contact you as soon as possible".

Beep. 'National-romantic music plays in the background'

"Estimated time for our representatives to reach your call, is. 4 years, 85 days, 7 hours and 41 seconds".

*Depending on his patience, he could try to send a dignitary which would by law require instant response from the diplomatic relations committee.*

Kaligraphic (post: 1449995) wrote:[Constantinople]

*With the forward landing bay now open, a small shuttle emerged. It approached the NHRE flagship slowly, and came to land on one of the HMS Unconquerable's landing platforms. As the shuttle's door opened, three Aikon emerged. Two of them were attired in white military dress uniforms, but the leader's uniform was dark red. He had dishwater-grey hair, gathered loosely in a queue, and solidly iridescent purple eyes.*

Charles Vicelin who stood on deck approached the landing platform. He was guided by the two foremost peers of his elite guard. All wearing a rough, metallic like armor of a rather particular substance while being armed with huge chainswords which they walked with. Largely formed in aspiration to the armor of the crusader elites of the past. Charles Vicelin wore his black military uniform with dark-red outlines. He now carried the title "Holy Saint Emperor of Europe." Yet, he did not take too great a notice to such formalities and greeted Scaramouche with a military salute before saying the following.

"It is an honor to welcome you to our capital. Sadly, these are troubled times even for our young nation. As we have barely been able to unite the greater part of Europe and beyond. We are the last stand of mankind, who will accept death before they accept defeat. Despite this, I see that our nation is not alone in facing struggles. Your prideful vessel here seems to have taken quite a beating, and thus, it strikes me only as reasonable to offer my hand in aid. In these few days we have managed to gather an extraordinary amount of materials for the general purpose of aiding you in your repairs. Our infrastructure and our manpower is yours to command. I offer it to you in the spirit of assistance".

To Save A Life Pt II

Postby Dante » Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:01 am

Vivian was deeply struck by what he had just heard and seen. He knew of how other species treated "The Corrupt", of how some even killed and tortured them worse then they did creatures of chaos. The Vesari had had a long, but secret history with those that managed to survive, but only among the most poorest neighborhoods and always in deep secrecy. He had known of a couple of corrupt throughout his life-time, despite their severe rarity. Most were deeply wounded by the rejection they received from their former family and friends. It was apparent that Charlie stood at just such a precipice in his own life. Vivian felt a deep pity for what had come to pass, corruption was beyond cures known to all of ZODEAC and there was no telling how far chaos would proceed.

Moving next to Fredrick he looked into Charlie's eyes with hopes to reassure him, as he attempted to muster up an idea to diffuse the situation, "It's as Fredrick says, you are still you, independent of what your father would think or how your external appearance changes. I can't say it's something to be celebrated, but it's not something that warrants giving up..." Vivian paused, "I was going to hold this off till you were better, but I actually think that it is only right that we play our trump cards as well."

"Upon your arrival here in ZODEAC, your father sent me a message. In it, it was he asked that I teach you to become "human". What superficial changes happen on the outside do not change my obligation to see this through should I accept this. But it could play a deep role in your future-, not without your consent of course. There are certain little known secrets about this world, places that are unsavory to others that serve as a refuge to those who rank among those with similar fates to your own. While it lacks the glamour and pomp of royalty or riches, I've known the people who live there to have a kind of "wealth" of their own." Vivian took a deep sigh as sorrow over-took him at how deep a loss in power and fame he was placing before the boy for a "chance" at freedom and life of some normality, "Life rarely leaves us with easy choices, but so far as it has been presented here, it seems as though the path to your old life has forever collapsed to the endless depths of time. You are left only with the choice to push forward with a new life, and a new identity, or perish by throwing yourself into the path that does not offer itself to your feet."

"It is not to say that you cannot make your way back to former rank and position should you find yourself desiring it, but to do so, you must take a different route and earn every step you take to acceptance in a world that has dealt you a disadvantaged set of cards. But at this point no one expects you to do anything of sort, your life is your own - and while you are on this soil you remain under ZODEAC law and under ZODEAC liberty. And while many will hold it against you culturally for being of "The Corrupt", there is no law against you or your fate, Charlie. That stated, I will have to leave that decision to you, but I would rather leave you to get some rest here for now and consider other topics of life while you consider your options. I cannot stop you from whatever choice you make - as that choice is your own. I simply urge you as a friend to please respect yourself and never make any decision that would harm you - I am sure you know the consequences of your actions even better then I."

[Constantinople]

Scaramouche: A warm welcome, indeed! I am Scaramouche, captain of the Whisperer in the Dark, and I greet you in return. I had not expected to find anyone still living on this world, so to find such as yourselves, regardless of what you stand against, is certainly a pleasant surprise. We have indeed taken a beating, but, as my comm officer tells me is the local phrase - you should see the other guy. With sufficient raw materials, my ship will heal itself - I mean no discourtesy when I say that your industrial base is unlikely to be otherwise compatible with our technology.

But tell me, against what have you prepared this last stand?
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

*** Pascal ***

There was a long silence, which was apparent with both Fredrick and Charlie after hearing this. For a moment, Charlie was not even crying. He was thinking, long and hard on the matter. It only took a few minutes for him to say. " I do." The pain behind these words were easy to identify for anyone present. However, there was one who seemed worried about all this, and that was Fredrick.

" No, there is no way something like this can work. This is the prince of the empire. The heir himself! There is no way Charles would allow the prince an extended stay going against his own will. When Charles finds out about this, and I pray he never will, Charlie's life will officially be over. The war Charles and Baptista has waged against chaos is not like anything you have seen, and it surpasses even the human understanding of conflict. It.... it scars me to say, but Charles is more than capable of launching a war even against a son he would disown. In fact, he sees it as a spiritual necessity to sacrifice all in the war he currently is in. He is a man with many regrets, but, on who's sacrifice gave the world a chance to fight back...... And Baptista..... Baptista is someone who defy human endurance".

Charles could be see looking up at Fredrick. His voice, quivering with pain on consideration. " My.... My father once told me, that if he would go wrong, it would be my duty to dethrone him. That if..... if the forces of darkness was to capture his heart, then I must be the one to bring light back to him, even if it meant ending him........ Now..... it seems.... the forces of darkness is taking mine....."

Fredrick looked at Charlie with sadness in his eyes. " I.... I am sorry Charlie. I did not mean it come out that way, but I think Charles is wrong. He gave me his permission to start a chaos rehabilitation program for those lesser corrupted. I only managed to save a couple of thousands, but I've not been able to cure any. Even Punja has not been able to reverse the trend of a corrupted. Charles looks at corruption not as a mark of the enemy, but the mark of those that need to be vanquished. He is certain that when chaos returns, the corrupted might be influenced in a way they are not now, what's worse however, is that he may very well be right. There has always been a connection of some kind to chaos and the corrupted, but, most of the time, it is minor, and in rarer cases, well, it turns people into a fully fledged being of chaos".

*Yet another moment of silence ensured, until Charlie broke it again*

" Baptista once brought some corrupted before me..... He told me that if I was to defeat chaos, I must first defeat myself. Whatever that might be holding me back to win a fight, such as conscience, restraint...... empathy".

Fredrick looked appalled by this. " Oh no, Baptista, what have you done........"

Charlie was in tears at this moment, yet too weak to cry. " I want away from it all, away from this hellish battle. I cannot battle my father, and he cannot battle me. He won't, he already lost his daughter and that was his last restraint. My father is not like Baptista, he does not go beyond empathy. He told me that once this battle was over it would be up to me, not him, to heal the world. Now, it seems, I am just going to add more hurt. If my father is broken, the one who will take control is Baptista".

Fredrick held the hand of Charlie. " Baptista was not always like this either. He was indeed, before the war, the most empathetic man you would ever see. I served in his monastery before he was drafted. This war has changed him.... But, he still wants mankind to survive, this much I am certain of...... It is regardless of no intrest to our present dilemma. I know Charles, and he will likely request Charlie be brought back to his nation, but if this happens, it will be the end of Charlie. Would you risk keeping him here in spite of what the emperor would demand? Or.... do you have another solution"?

*** Kali ***

Charles nodded. " I am quite aware. It is an impressive ship, but feel free to use whatever you may need. We have plenty of materials for you to use. Oh, and our last stand? A monster put it in quite simple terms. A monster that does not fight only with it's might, but challenges the ruthlessness and character of the ones that fight it. Lose, and ones entire race might very well be wiped out. Needless to say, I do not intend to lose."

((OOC))

@ Pascal

Tifer Li’s eyes sparkled with excitement from the warm welcome he and his escorts received once arriving in New Alexandria. Never had Tifer seen so many citizens of different species all working and living together in harmony. All he had ever seen was pure Nekojin, humans (though the humans he knew acted nothing like the humans/Hume in ZODEAC), and hybrids of the two.
After the short festivities, Tifer noticed a male older creature approaching them; the creature seemed built like a Nekojin, only much short and with very tall ears (Tifer was told that the creature was an Oniru). But before Tifer had a chance to make a formal introduction, the Oniru spoke up.

Tifer lowered his ears, placed his paws over his chest, and bowed slightly to Aemilius (this is the greeting of respect between two Nekojins from Ark when meeting for the first time. The greeting is always done this way towards Lady Acela). “I humbly thank you for your kind welcome to me and my companions. Surely, New Alexandria is blessed to have you as their mayor, no matter how silly the job may seem. My hope in a bright friendship with ZODEAC has been strengthened.â€

(GM: So, I really hate to do this but I've been left with no choice...and I mean that for both of the things I'm about to say. First, I'm condensing this update a bit since writing these takes forever and I'm already late getting this one up. Second, this next action is meant to send a message to just about everyone and is the real reason I say I hate to do this. But, I just can't let this pass by without doing nothing...)

*The Banker Clan of Chimrajh*

*Eager to expand their nation further and with their own self-preservation on the mind, the Banker Clan of Chimrajh rushed to grab Regions 47 and 54. Their success, however, was short lived and in their rush, they awoke something much, much more powerful then what had been seen elsewhere.*

*New Holy Roman Empire-Border of Region 47*

*The New Holy Roman Empire had had enough. Egged on by the assumption that the Banker Clan of Chimrajh was trying to pull them into a war and puffed up by their own military conquests. They prepared to push into Region 47 and further. They did not know what they were going to run into but they had been prepared for the possibility that the Chimrajh soldiers might be there. The largest force ever mustered that included Nox Chaotica was going to be led by Charles himself, who was personally insulted by this form of double-crossing. Beyond this, word that his other assault led by Punja and his attempt to buy another region had proved fruitless gave him a solid determination to drive into this region and seize it for his empire. The plan was set to make sure that if the Banker Clan was there they would be trapped into a war that they could not win but like many plans, the unexpected can ruin them within a second.*

*Pacifica*

*Zarn sat in front of a glowing holographic projection of the world and watched a time lapse of
the expansionary efforts of these new nations. He saw from this glowing representation, the gifting of region 46 to the Nation of Ark and their purchase of Region 51 as well as the territorial acquisitions of Regions 7, 28 and 30 by the Rozinhelm Empire along with their inability to hold regions 31 and 32. While this interested him and brought him memories of the old days, this was not the main reason he had tuned into this scene. An eerie silence beneath the waves had caught his attention more then any other war or major event that occurred in the world today. Chaos had his nation against the wall, stumbling with victory basically in grasp and yet had not even attempted to land the final blow. Something was wrong, and he hoped that the surface might hold a clue. Suddenly, he spotted a speck of black appear on the map and then it began to spread. Zarn leaned forward and looked closer at it, with a grave look set upon his face. Chaos was moving.*

*Region 47*

*The New Holy Roman Empire was right to prepare for The Banker Clan of Chimrajh's presence in this region and they did find them. But, when they did, they found something even more shocking. Chaos, without provocation, was fighting the Banker Clan of Chimrajh! Charles stopped his force and prepared to sit and watch, figuring that Chaos would do the job for them. Instead, he was stunned to find Chaos turn on him as well! Normally this would be no problem. Nox Chaotica, after all, was a Titan meant to deal with these types of situations. But, the Banker Clan was not going to roll over and play dead for Chaos or the New Holy Roman Empire and they too had been expecting them. The T4 Lion soon engaged Nox Chaotica who could not help itself but focus in on the lumbering Titan, rendering her as well as the T4 Lion completely neutralized in this battle. The NHRE's force also came face to face with not only the fear caused by the Chaos units but bizarre human-chimera experiments that were just as horrifying if not more horrifying then those creatures. Even with the extra encouragement and training they had undergone to prepare for this, there was a large number of deserters causing Charles to have to fight not just a massive Chaos force, but the Banker Clan's remaining force as well. Needless to say, despite his best efforts, there was no salvaging a win and Chaos drove him back into his own country. Shockingly, his force had not suffered many casualties despite their defeat, but this did not change the bitter taste that was left in Charles mouth. The only thing that brought him some solace was the fact that both Region 47 and the Capital of the Banker Clan of Chimrajh, Region 53, had fallen to Chaos. He hadn't manage to expand his nation, but he knew that a rival had been crippled.*

(GM: I haven't killed Septimus' country but it is insanely weakened. He knows the reason for this so, if you're wondering, talk to him. I won't be changing the status of the regions that have fallen with pleading or offers either. If he or anyone else wants them, they are going to have to kill off the Chaos in that region to get them. Good luck.)

Chimrajh

In the carnage that followed, Cadbury Augustus Constantine was carried out of his office on a stretcher. While unharmed, his mind seemed to have taken an even greater blow than his country and the last of his sanity fettered away like a rotten orange peel. He was muttering and wild eyed, babbling madness about Chaos and doom.

"Oh how history does repeat itself, first as tragedy then as farce," Constantine bawled. "Behold, I see a great monster coming from the sea, gobbling up the nations and chewing them... chewing like a cow chews cud! Oh alas... alack... fugglemuffins..."

Sighing while their leader continued to rave, one of the young Chimera - Nilu - attendants decided it was time to take matters into her own hands. Nilu left the city and set out to contact the New Roman Empire. In light of the recent disasters, she decided it was time they set aside their differences and moved towards a peaceful alliance if both their nations were to survive.

War against Chaos

*Charles speech in Constantinople, in front of the grand new recruits*

"Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy
God is with thee whithersoever thou goest".

"Guardians of the New Holy Roman Empire. I, your emperor. Take it upon me to serve you as a whole. For a wise emperor would know that the people will only serve their emperor as much as their emperor will serve them! Our enemies are ramming down our doors! They feast on despair flesh of children, the fears of all men and the terror in their hearts. They shall find our nation to be a grand wasteland if this is such"!

*A moment of cheer was taken before he continued*

" I say this to the very core of Chaos, which I once gazed upon. Even though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death. I will not fear, I need not fear, for I have solid foundations beneath me, an almighty and good God above me and the bravest military force in the world behind me"!

*Another moment of cheer was given.*

" Brave soldiers! Your nation calls towards you to face your greatest fears! If not stopped, they will feast on the flesh of our children, the bones of our ancestors and the hearts of our loved ones. We will always fight them, if necessary for years..... If necessary... alone. Where the enemy strikes us, we shall strike faster! Where the enemy attacks us, we shall repel them! Whatever terror the enemy wishes to unleash upon us, we shall surpass them! However the enemy fights us, we shall fight stronger, more united and better prepared! If they approach us in endless hordes, we, as a people, with the emperor himself leading the way, shall make our stand and see a few good men triumph against many!"

*For the first time, the nation anthem of the NHRE was played and sung out loud.*

Our nations emblem branded in our hearts
Brothers and sister! Now our battle starts!
Our enemy approaches with rank and file
They will be brought to the ground with style!
Oh enemies of truth, who would feast upon disgrace
Dark sin it wholesomely embrace!
Know that every soldier in flesh that falls
in spirit he rises to continue our call!

We are the empire - Man’s last stand!

His light now shines over our flag
Soldiers name embedded in their holy tag!
We ask you let your light never cease to shine
Soldiers in arms, take your bread and your wine!
For our rendezvous expected with our savior so grand
For him we are going to make our last stand!
And when service is done, and life fades poor
We ask of God to open heavens door!

We are the empire - Man's last stand!

*The emperor alone sang the following.*

Carry on, oh soldiers, bold and brave. Crush your enemies in your fierce waves. Carry on, my brothers! Through fire and flames, liberate the souls of those taken from grace. Fight on, my comrades! Through the torments of hell! We shall never surrender, we shall not be quelled!

*The speakers created a strong and heavenly voice saying the following.*

Silvery water on our soldiers rain
Heavens grace our people gain
Oh almighty love who encompass all
Fortify our hearts, be our wall
Oh heavenly father with mercy so grand
It is for you we make our stand
Oh savior so grand, God's own son
Your grace is surpassed by none
Oh spirit of the lord, who guides our hearts
Let us never be apart
Forever we stand, united as one
Almighty lord, your will be done!

*Soldiers in rank fired shots into the sky*

We are the empire - Man's last stand!

Heavenly fire which shines so bright
In your light our souls take flight!
The bible which guides our heart
Our reason known, our battle start!
Together, man, being, creature and call
We shall either succeed or fall!
United by a bond under the holy arch
Together, we as soldiers march!

We are the empire - Man's last stand!

With this, the march was on. An official deceleration of strategic war against Chaos was made.
Of two evils, choose neither - Charles Spurgeon.

For Those East of Edean Pt II

Postby Dante » Thu Jan 20, 2011 5:07 pm

Vivian was quite surprised at how similar their two greetings were, and both he and Gildas returned the gesture in kind before their short conversation at the air-port. But soon, their stomachs informed all parties that the time for fasting had come to an end, and they demanded that their owners "bring on the food!"

"Well I'm glad that we can all accept to go with our 'gut feelings' for once, ha ha." Triumvir Gildas said, "Actually I think I know just the location. While cultural differences may cause us to have slightly different dishes then yours, I hope you'll find that our tastes for good food are similar. It's also a pleasure to meet you, Jadi and Yuu and it is an honor to have all of you here in ZODEAC on this day. Now then, shall we?"

A limo pulled up besides the group and they were soon spirited off at Triumvir Gildas' request to a fine dining hall. Outside they moved along a red carpet into an ornate building that represented the wealth that had rapidly been accrued by ZODEACs global economic expansions. The city was much like the trees planted along the sidewalk, a youth with great potential in the land.

"We currently have investments around the globe,"Triumvir Gildas began, "It's not our goal to take over the global economy, in fact, our analysts are suggesting that the market may be going more bullish in the future. 10 shares of Rozenhelm for instance go for about 24 econ units, 18 econ units if you really work at it, but we estimate that their GDP is about 40-50 econ units each quarter. 10% of that only brings in 4-5 econ units a turn, 4 quarters is a long time to recoup your investment if you're going for long term dividends in a share. The NHRE is still good and should be able to bring in between a 25-34% interest rate though. Thing is, as stock prices begin to approach the income brought in by a nations GDP... well, it suggests an economic slowdown and recession unless new markets can be created via innovation, we're hoping that we can-"

"Alexander." Vivian broke in, "You're at it again."

"Oh, sorry. I tend to get excited about the economy. But yes, I have good hopes for The Nation of Ark you see. You have so much potential, and I am very proud of what you've done with Eastern Asia, you are a shining beacon to the world." Triumvir Gildas said as they were led among the various big-wigs to a central seating arrangement, and given menus, "I hope that our last investments are to your liking, but it's what you stand for that we truly admire. Tell me, not for business, but for personal interest, what are your hopes for the future?"

(OOC)

*Somewhere*

*In a cave hidden from the world, a hooded figure in a tattered robe approached a large shadowy, twisted figure. He bows low to the ground as the creature opens its several eyes on several heads.*

Creature: Cursed Lich! Why do you disturb us this day?!

The Lich: A humble request from your fellow Generals and the one who leads them all. Ec'liptix, I'm sure the news has reached you here.

*The creature snarls at the mention of its name and the word request. Such tiring and boring things have always been her least favorite moments throughout all these years.*

Ec'liptix: Welps should know their place.

The Lich: I agree fully with you! And that is why I have come to humbly request that you be our messenger.

Ec'liptix: Get to the point Lich!

The Lich: This upstart nation known as the New Holy Roman Empire thinks that they can stand toe to toe with us. That they can fight us. We want you, Ec'liptix the queen of the Chaos Dragons, to send them a message tha-

Ec'liptix: *Roaring furiously before the Lich is finished* THERE IS NO MORE CHAOS DRAGONS CURSED LICH! YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THIS!

The Lich: But Ec'liptix...we need you too--

Ec'liptix: SILENCE! I know what is needed and it is for you to leave this place now!

*The Lich stands and hurridely heads for the exit but not before turning and getting in one last word to the mighty Ec'liptix.*

The Lich: Don't forget who saved you Ec'liptix. Don't forget that you owe him your life.

*With that the cursed Lich left*

Military Update 4

Postby Peanut » Fri Jan 21, 2011 7:32 pm

(GM: Let me mention that, right now, the Update isn't over. I still have the economic half to do but, since I've gotten the military portion done, I figure I might as well post it now. I would just like to remind all of you that I hate doing this. Not the updates but...well...)

*The Rozinhelm Empire*

*The Rozinhelm Empire continued to expand its borders with a successful military conquest of region 29 thanks to its Titan, Rozinhelm. They also waged war with Regions 31 and 32 but were unable to fully seize them. However, their effective military campaigns there had caused the leaders of those regions to send a message asking to negotiate a surrender. It would be up to the Rozinhelm Empire, however, to determine their fate.*

(GM: I haven't done this up to this point but that's because they're really haven't been that many chances. Basically, the military scores in both region 31 and 32 are well below half of what they started with. Usually, I would leave it up to the player to try and contact and negotiate with them but since no one has been trying it anyway, I figured I would start to get a little more proactive with this and just have them contact you guys. Now onto the part I sort of feel bad about...)

*New Holy Roman Empire*

*Every nation has its defining moment. The war against Chaos was supposed to be the New Holy Roman Empire's. In Region 45, long range artillery carefully fired into Region 47. Their goal was two fold, to damage Chaos and not damage the black crystals. Nox Chaotica was sent to defend region 50. But this was not all they planned to do during this period of time.*

*In region 34, the forces of the New Holy Roman Empire clashed with the local inhabitants. Despite being outnumbered, Punja's combination of anti-Chaos messages and seizing control points resulted in major victories versus superior forces. However, they were not able to seize the territory as the Icelandic forces dug in and weathered their waves of attacks. The anti-Chaos messages proved ineffective against the publication of threats against their nation. The New Holy Roman Empire would not be taking region 34 this turn, but they could be hopeful about the next one. Or, could they...events were about to transpire that would turn this defining moment into a disaster. As an old and powerful enemy decided to fight back.*

*Elsewhere*

*Ec'liptix had finally given in to the Cursed Lich's request. Not because of what anyone had once done for her, but because of what was being done to the forces under her command. She could feel a blank spot in Region 43 that seemed to confirm a rumor that had spread amongst her Chaos bretheren. The welp of a nation, known as the New Holy Roman Empire, had built something that incapacitated Chaos. This could not be tolerated. A message was needed, but she now knew that she wasn't going to be the main one who would deliver it. It would be another of the Chaos Generals, one which had not been on this planet before, that would show the world what Chaos really is. Still, this didn't mean that she couldn't add a note to this message. One that would really let every word that would be spoken sink in. She spread her massive wings, shattering the cave she had formed around her in Region 35. New Holy Roman Empire spotters were stunned to see the visage of a twisted Dragonlike creature, with three heads attatched to twisted knecks. And eyes scattered across her torn wings. Before any action could be taken against Ec'liptix, she took flight and sped off, faster then a space shuttle straight up into the air and soon disappeared. When Ec'liptix arrived in orbit, she stared down upon the surface of the Earth. And felt the movements of her Chaotic and Chimera brethren.*

*Yes, Chimera brethren. For the Banker Clan of Chimrajh was not at all what it seemed. The first sign came when Nox Chaotica and its accompanying units arrived in Region 50 to find it completely empty. Upon further investigation, they found something shocking and revolting to every single one of those soldiers. Cultish markings were within every meeting place including what seemed to be Churches. But, the most terrifying thing of all, was what they found in a large temple. A statue of a massive Chaotic, bovine beast simply dubbed "Cowthulhu." It suddenly sunk in. As concerning as this was, nothing was more concerning then the sudden silence they acquired with all communications with Region 45, where Charles Vicelin himself was located. It suddenly sank in. This was all a massive trap!*

*Region 45*

*Before the party sent to defend region 50 made their terrifying discovery, the MOLE located in region 45 picked up something massive. It was moving towards their location at a slow pace and, no matter what they sent, they couldn't seem to get close enough to even get a clear picture. They knew it was some kind of Chaos but they couldn't tell what exactly it was. Charles was contacted and told of the beast. His heart skipped a beat. In his memory, he could only think of a single set of Chaos creatures that were that large. A loud guttural "Moo" that shook the ground only confirmed what he knew in his heart. He turned and beheld a beast similar to the ones that had turned the tide in the Chaos war and broke the draw that the Titans had made. Cowthulhu lumbered off in the distance, and was greeted with a hail of bullets, shells and every piece of armament that the New Holy Roman Empire had located in that area. But, it was all useless, and as Charles watched in horror, Cowthulhu began its march across Region 45, crushing everything in its way as if it was merely an ant before it. The New Holy Roman Empire forces stood no chance at all, and fell quickly at the might of Cowthulhu.*

*But this was not the only bit of this betrayal that occured. The remaining forces of the Banker Clan of Chimrajh had a very special task, and together with the T4 Lion they accomplished it without any problem. Region 43, where the only piece of technology that seemed to be able to stop Chaos was located (the Purifier), fell to the hands of these forces. Caught completely off guard, they never stood a chance, and soon the very piece of technology that was able to defend them from this onslaught of Chaos was captured and disabled.*

*This was just the beginning of it, though. As Cowthulhu's march reached area 44, it let out another guttural "Moo" that sent all of the Chaos in that region into a frenzy. Soon, they began to stampede, and charged the forces of the New Holy Roman Empire. The NHRE forces fought bravely and killed half of the crazed Chaos but their force was just too large and quickly overwhelmed and literally trampled them underneath their feet.*

*Space*

*Ec'liptix looked down upon all of this as the energy within her began to brim to the surface. Her brethren had done well, but she knew that it wasn't enough to send the message they wanted to send. No. To do that, she had to take matters into her own hands and show the world what the most powerful Chaos General was capable of. Within a blink of an eye, her three heads released 4 blasts of Chaotic energy. These shredded through the atmosphere like the legendary Ion Cannons of old and smashed into regions 35, 39, 40 and 41. All 4 regions suffered huge numbers of casualties (10 military units to be exact) and had their military wiped out for the most part. Fortunately, the survivors were too stunned to rebel and new trainees were rushed out to start disaster relief. Punja's force also returned to area 35 for both a break and to provide further stability. Ec'liptix stared at her work from above and cackled. She could seize those regions now for herself but she figured that it wouldn't be worth it. A welp is a welp. Weak and defenseless and not worth anytime to something like her. But, that Welp's little toy was bothersome. She figured she would stay in orbit a bit longer and keep an eye on them for a while. After all, she was still connected to Chaos and could always find out what was going on by just listening to the screaming voice of the Overmind.*

(OOC: Oh how long I've waited for this update... I almost feel the urge to break into a fit of long winded and largely unnecessary gloating, but I shall refrain.)

Chimrahj

Nilu's escort ship docks, horrified at the carnage that has overtaken her homeland. She'd meant to ally with the New Roman Empire, stop the endless cycle of war and chaos, not -

Before the starry-eyed Chimera has time to give a long and mournfully moralistic speech, Cowthulhu lurches down and eats her, chewing its hapless victim like cud and spitting her - er - leftovers at what's left of Charles' army in a truly gruesome scene. Cadbury Augustus Constantine walks beside the bovine beast and pats it on the hoof. Aw, it was soft and cuddly. Indeed, Cowthulhu seizes some of Charles' troops in its stubby cow arms and hugs them - tightly, until they pop and rain blood down on the rest of his army.

Image

"Yes, Great One," Constantine throws his arms wide and lets out a maniac laugh. The sleeves of his robe fall back, revealing the fur of his lion arms has been shaved and tattooed with hundreds of cultic symbols. Indeed, the banker clan had only been a front. He'd kept his father's business going so long as it disguised his fanatic alliance to the Chaos. "Yes! Crush them, crush them all! Let the fool's armies be a sacrifice to your might!

Cowthulhu moos and stares - rather cow-eyed - out towards the sea of bodies. A figure walks along the corpses, reading a copy of Marx. Indeed, could this be the red clad woman from Constantine's dreams? He bows before her in wonder.

"My master," Constantine murmurs. "Your plan is complete. I've done all your visions have shown me."

The wandering Marxist blinks up at Cowthulhu before slapping Constantine upside the head and knocking the brain wave transmission device she'd implanted in him out of his ear. "Those weren't visions, you half baked potato. *sigh* Nevermind. Just go feed Cowthulhu more victims and round up some more money from his faith healing moo on the side." The Chimera bows again and departs, leaving the Marxist to gloat [long winded and unnecessarily]. She picks up a stick and writes the following message in the blood of a random New Roman soldier:

* T E M U L I N * W A S * H E R E *

Flight From New Alexander

Postby Dante » Fri Jan 21, 2011 10:22 pm

But just before Tifer could even respond, the Oniru stood up looking towards the doorway, "What is the meaning of this?!" He demanded his hair on edge, as the table was quickly surrounded by a squad of USCU units along with Lieutenant General, George Xavier.

"My apologies sir, but we simply don't have the time, Triumvir Galzorgan has authorized me to implement General Blenr Zhanckgha's request to immediately evacuate you from the region." As he finished this, the roar of RFX-4s could be heard overhead, and the faint sound of RESRCH-98 Recon Helicopters, "Please hurry, there isn't much time. We're evacuating the city, we need you to go to the air-field."

"Evacuating the city? What in the world?" The Oniru seemed shell-shocked.

"Go outside and see for yourself, the NHRE has collapsed." the Hume said, to which Vivian took up from the table and ran towards the door, only to look spell bound as War Tzars moved past and orders were sent to work out an orderly evacuation. The Vesari fell on his hands and hind-paws shaking his head in disbelief. The sight that would cause him such distress remaining just across the border in the newly built NHRE city. A massive collumn of smoke could be seen rising and the screams of people and gun fire were rampant.

"Spirits. What could possibly-" Triumvir Gildas said as he looked the sight in awe, "Apologies Tifer, we must leave here at once,"

"The aircraft has a debriefing that is for your eyes only sir," General Xavier responded, to which the Oniru quickly retorted,

"Any aircraft we're leaving on, he's coming as well unless it's Ark that is attacking the NHRE. Which I high doubt given the screams from the other side."
________

Thus, with great urgency to their actions, the trio was spirited away through the city streets in military vehicles as people swarmed to attempt to leave. The airport itself was also swarming, and at Vivian's request a group of school children - as many as the air-craft could support were also added to their flight before they lifted off with full RFX-4 escort. On the main screen in front of all them, Xavier gave his report.

"Early this morning, our intel scouts in the regions began picking up strange things, a set of random 'hotspots' of Chaos all throughout the NHRE. At first, we believed it was related to their Chaos war, that they were just announcing word of their resistance in the north, but we soon discovered the situations was far worse."

The first slide came up, it revealed fire spread far and wide... and what appeared to be a giant... cow?

"Indeed, what you are looking at there is not a shop. I only wish it was. But it shows one of three major regions captured by the forces of Arabia. That 'thing' is located in eastern europe, something seems to have attracted it there. But more-so, while we can't be certain, we're getting scattered reports that the Banker Clan is not what it seems. That it is actually an agent of Chaos itself." The General looked on grimly towards the group of them, including a host of crying school-children who were frightened and scared from the ordeal.

"Why?" Triumvir Gildas began, he thought to send immediate aid, but knew all too well that if the NHRE could not defeat this foe alone, they would add little - this was suddenly an international crisis.

"For some reason however, they seem entirely focused on the NHRE, although we cannot tell how long nor if the violence would spill over to border towns such as Alexander. You can maybe understand why I interrupted your meal then?"

A female Vesari suddenly rushed into the Cabin, "General Alexander, I was told that there was something you needed to see, switch it over to the com channel 113, the spy system."

The General had a terrified look in his eye, they all did, as none of them knew what to expect next. Switching the channel over, he was suddenly given an image of a glistening stream of remnant particles and a great glowing wasteland of fire in the English Sector of the NHRE. A replay of the last two minutes continued in the lower right hand corner and soon it could be seen that a fire-bright beam had come down from orbit in space.

"ZOOM IN ON THAT IMAGE! The General yelled, which caused the aid to run back to the front COMs system and send out an order, quickly the camera began to zoom in, leaving a fuzzy screen. It stopped, readjusted and zoomed again, until a massive dragon came into view, firing another beam at yet another territory, and then another, leveling them to the ground. Vivian was now openly crying and Gildas had a few tears as well, watching this Chaos Holocaust of Europe play out before him.

"We're heading for South ZODEAC, to the city of Delphi. We're going to convene an emergency council there, but I will be heading back to North Africa as it is obvious that I am needed there - even if, may God have mercy and make it so, these attacks are somehow to only be contained within the NHRE." Lieutenant General Xavier said.

"Indeed, may God save us all. Every one of us." Gildas said in shock. Gildas turned over to Tifer, "There is a phone on the side, you should probably call home just to let them know you are alright, but I suppose the nature of our talks has changed greatly since this began. I so much wish it could have stood on better terms - and not in the middle of a global disaster."

[In the Nation of Ark]

*Lady Acela sat very quiet and motionless in her chair as her border scout gave her the report. General Flyn stood beside her, occasionally flicking his tail, as if in deep thought. It appeared Chaos was spreading much faster than she had anticipated and she still had not heard from the New Holy Roman Empire, though her scout told her there were many causalities and talk of a great black and white monster with eyes that could pierce through one's very soul. Chaos now engulfed almost half of Asia and some of Europe.
The scout went on to tell Lady Acela that there had been rumors of nations falling, strong nations, and attacks from above the sky. The room feel very silent, Acela stared down at her feet, thinking. After a short while, Acela spoke in a whisper to her attendant, "Please call Professor Nazu. I wish to see him. And also," Acela lifted her head, "Please send word to Tifer in Africa. While I don't wish to rush his trip home, do inform him of the circumstances and he can decide his actions for himself."
"Y-y-yes Lady Ace." the stuttering attendant scurried out of the room.*

___________________________________________________________________________

[Meanwhile, in Africa]

*The next events that happened were all a blur to Tifer, but when he finally came back to his senses, he was on a plane with Alexander and Vivian, watching captured footage of the attack on The New Holy Roman Empire.
"Who could do such damage to a mighty and beautiful nation..." Tifer whispered to himself, unable to tear his eyes away from the screen, but wishing he could erase the images from his mind. This was Chaos, in every sense of the word.

Tifer's thoughts were interrupted by Gildas' words and he reached for the phone to call Lady Acela directly.

[In Ark]

Lady Acela just got off the phone with Tifer. General Flyn, the scout, and Acela's attendant were all staring at her with wide, expecting eyes.
"He's fine." Acela began and they all let out a sigh of relief, "And safe, for now. ZODEAC leaders were quick to respond and are withdrawing to Southern Africa and there Tifer will stay for now. I will have to contact the ZODEAC leaders directly to plan our next move." She did not mention that she had tried to contact The New Holy Roman Empire and had gotten no answer. Though, their communications may have been cut. It would require further investigation.

***Before the ruins of New Jerusalem stood Baptista, along with the hellfire division. A unit not known to the public. ***

Baptista: Burn it all......

'A man stood next to Baptista, with a cigar in his mouth. He turned to look at Baptista.'

???: The area is still not fully evacuated. We might have time to send in a few other rescue ships.

Baptista chuckled and repeated himself. " Burn it." He said with a voice that seemed honestly calm.

The other man was of a much larger frame than Baptista. Over 6 feet and well built. Wearing the clothes that marked him as the main citizens general. He looked at Baptista and said the following. " Baptista, these are your people....... We may be able to save more."

Baptista then looked directly up at the man in question. In a rare display, he was not smiling.

"Prepare them to go from one inferno to another General Alex." He said, in a daunting, yet calm tone.

Alex, stood still for a moment. Picked up his radio, and gave the order to commence a huge-scale napalm run over New Jerusalem, a firebombing on a scale that could leave no survivors. It was delivered by the sloped artillery system itself, and standing before a mighty inferno, Alex dropped to his knees, while Baptista observed the fires without changing his emotions. Saying the following.

" We leave no fields go unsalted that we lose to our enemies....... You will thank me, as our people will not turn to be our enemies now, and the enemies will struggle in this wast wasteland. Civilians taking up arms against chaos has no effect and they will likely turn into corrupted in their attempts.... We must show no compassion, and only hard, statistical evidence to guide our actions".

Alexander turned then to look at Baptista. " This is the beginning of the end for our empire.... Our young Empire will fall by this terror.... "

Baptista turned towards Alexander, now facing his back to the fires and screams of New Jerusalem and said the following. " This violence is our future Alex, you would do well to remember this. What we saw today was a required sacrifice, along the lines of others that we have demanded before. These survivors would only be dead weight, our army is large enough already, and, we have gained much in this conflict, despite our considerable losses. If our empire is dying, it is vital that we conduct ourselves the way a dying man should. Tell me, what do you think a dying man should?"

Alex looked at Baptista. " Confess his sins to the lord."

Baptista chuckled. " And rid himself of his connections with impurities. We have gotten confirmations from the Rosy empire, they are willing to aid us".

'With this, Baptista turned on his inter cube, the one he had linked to Vivian, and said the following transmission, with the images of New Jerusalem burning behind him.'

" My dear..... Friend. I come to you with news. Chaos is wrecking havoc across our lands, and we do not suspect the future to be kind. Behind me is the future of this world and the living flames has no heart..... Nor do these actions. Our emperor is for the moment busy, but I have the imperial authority to pursue the following decree. Our nation, as well as the united west, will no longer be dealing with you financially as the results of earlier tensions. These financial sanctions are ultimate. You will get the.... friendly advice to arm yourself as chaos is advancing, but we cannot deal with nations we consider untrustworthy, it hurt us quite a bit the last time around".

Baptista chuckled. " On a personal note. It will be fun to see how this fractured world will fare against chaos that will be near your borders any moment now. You will see that this force is not limited by our idea of power, in fact, it is merely here to challenge how far we will go".

At this time, Baptista looked Vivian directly in the eye. There was no smile this time around.

" Would you be strong enough to kill someone you loved with your own, two hands. If it was for the survival of your subjects"? Baptista said with a calm and cold voice.

After having said this, he turned directly to Alex. " Ready the reserves and claim full effect on the mandatory service. We march to war against Chaos at our earliest convenience".

After saying this Alex clearly showed some frustration, tossing his cigar to the ground and turning around to look at the flames in clear distaste.

Baptista turned towards the intercube and said the following. " When you find your feet trembling, your eyes blinded by tears with only rage to find in your mind and despair to find in your heart. Then, you will question yourself. How can I defeat this enemy?"

Baptista chuckled. " The answer is simple, you can't."

With this said, the transmission ended.
Of two evils, choose neither - Charles Spurgeon.

Prelude To The First Trade Wars?

Triumvir Gildas shut off the teleprompter on the aircraft, looking back over to Vivian. Triumvir Galzorgan cut in immediately, "Those cowards betrayed us, they violated their sacred oath!", the Urnak spat, rage covering his face, "You of all people must realize that this is an act of war Oniru!"

"Indeed. That may so be the case. In any event, it is certain that Vivian's fear's were correct]NAP 3002 was nothing more then meaningless ink on paper. An act such as this has surely violated every bit of good faith we've placed in them, even till now, as their nation stands on the verge of total collapse. It is obvious they have gone mad, and brought their 'united west' with them, whatever that means. I'm not certain what you must think of this Tifer, having recently signed an MDP with them yourself. I am not certain what course to take myself, and I am certain that Vivian at this point would be fully against a military responce."

As the plane approached Delphi, the group sat in silence for a few minutes. It was a tense stretch of thought and contemplation. Vivian well aware that Gildas was the deciding factor in this decision, and he also understood that finance meant everything to the Oniru - and that the Urnak would agree to any declaration of war. His protest against any action would merely be symbolic and reduce support from the people, perhaps limiting the conflict, or perhaps making a prelude to failure and collapse of their own nation.

It was certain that ZODEAC currently stood at a severe military advantage to the NHRE. With their nation crippled, from multiple major orbital strikes and a wave of chaos never before seen. Their acts of aggression at this point could only signal an unstable regime - there was no telling what acts of oppression such a power would institute over it's people. But what would occur next, would verify the orientation of Vivian's conscience, the absolute necessity for military intervention.

"Respected commanders, I've been told there is something urgent coming in, I can't believe this is happening." The front flight officer yelled out.

Before anyone could respond the main screen popped up showing a live image of New Jerusalem from the AESOP spy satellite system - which had been monitoring Europe since the recent orbital strikes. On the screen, it showed NHRE air units laying down a layer of napalm strikes on the city below.

"Oh sweet mother of..." The Oniru's ears dropped and General Alexander looked on with rage as the NHRE began a systematic wide-scale mass napalm holocaust of the innocent lives. The very lives the NHRE swore to protect from chaos, they were now murdering because they could not win at this point in time.

Vivian's eye's were now wide with rage, his ears pulled back, his canines showing and his hair on edge. "They've finally become the monsters they had nightmares about. They've finally given into their own evil... We can't let them do this. Launch counter-measures immediately, get them out of there. GET THOSE PEOPLE OUT OF THERE!"

The Oniru shook his head, he was shrewdly aware that such an action could lead to a global international war. It could bring the very force they looked at with hatred home unless they could at least gain some assurance that they would have voice in one of the other empire. Pacifica had yet to answer their diplomatic requests and Rozenhelm had spoken to them little. They needed far more then their own good will to make such an action, though he felt thoroughly that Vivian was absolutely correct.

"Broadcast this atrocity to the Globe. Let history never forget this evil, but we cannot act on such a matter in isolation. But I will not cast my final vote in the direction of war over economic ends. For while this action IS a casus belli, to spill blood over economics leaves an ill taste in my mouth. We had withstood many hardships as a people, our free economic system will prevail, even against this. So, because I do not wish to let others say that I made war for money, I wish to leave this decision to our guest, Tifer, as their support economically as a friend is worth far more then the NHREs and their opinion matters far more as well."

"My apologies that I should need to leave so heavy a request on you Tifer, but I wish to ask you whether you personally believe we should intervene on this matter, or let them slaughter their people? Time is unfortunately of the essence, so we must act quickly - this action may lead us to a far greater conflict as I doubt the NHRE will accept a small war on the basis of protecting 'their people', they are an unstable regime and will take any measure to insure their continued power, including painting us as the villains. I am of course, not asking that the Nation of Ark support us, that will be their decision. Rather, I am asking you if you feel we should intervene, as it is a reflection of the sentiment of the people of Ark."

"Do we try to save them, or do we let them die?"

[Everywhere]

*In the wake of chaos' revelation, leaders of every nation received a message, broadcast in clear, from the starship currently resting in Constantinople's harbor.*

Code: Select all
/*****************************************************************************************/
/* To: All world leaders                                                                 */
/* From: Captain Scaramouche, Whisperer in the Dark                                      */
/* Subject: Chaos                                                                        */
/* Body: As you know, the forces of chaos have struck a great blow against the New Holy  */
/* Roman Empire. While some of you may be tempted to celebrate this as the weakening of  */
/* an opponent or rival, I would urge you to consider the nature of this foe. Chaos is   */
/* an all too familiar opponent to the border fleets of the Obsidian Empire. If it is    */
/* allowed to solidify its hold on a region, it is very difficult to dislodge it without */
/* doing significant harm to the environment. It squirrels itself away, hiding in the    */
/* cracks to come and infest the area again and again.                                   */
/*                                                                                       */
/* I would like you to consider the attached images and data, and, in light of what you  */
/* will find there, join with me and with one another to remove this blight from your    */
/* world. As the senior Obsidian Navy captain in this system, I pledge the assistance of */
/* Whisperer in the Dark to the removal of chaos from this world. Please set aside your  */
/* differences for the moment. Chaos threatens all of your futures, but it can be        */
/* defeated.                                                                             */
/*                                                                                       */
/* With hope,                                                                            */
/*                         Scaramouche,                                                  */
/*                                 Captain, Whisperer in the Dark                        */
/*****************************************************************************************/

*With the message came attached images and documentation of several dozen chaos infestations discovered (and removed) by the Obsidian Empire, from small incursions to huge invasions. The largest of the chaos creatures threatened entire star systems. Future astronomers would realize the chilling correlation between the timecodes of some of these outbreaks and certain unexplained novae, but even on the basis of the information in the packet, it was clear that, left alone, chaos would only grow as a threat.*
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.
