I just got laid off right when some of my top dollar bills are due. I just hope I am able to pay them off for now and hope I can find a job before I starve to death and/or run out of money. It was because of my personality they say. The temp-to-hire service wasn't very detailed. But right now, I could use some serious prayer. The moment I heard this, I went straight to teavana and yep, they still hiring. I gave them my situation and now I have to apply online. Oh dear God, help me.

That does sound scary, I'll be praying for you!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It might be a good thing to look in to in case you need it.

^ I wouldn't recommend filing for unemployment unless you get desperate. You only have a certain amount of time allotted to you, and heaven help you if you use it up and then need it when you're 55.

I think it depends on the state you live in. In any case, best of luck to you, Midknight.

I just got a call from the employment agency. Looks like I managed to land an interview. Tomorrow at 9 AM

Company is LaBarge, and it looks like they have very high standards considering the stuff they manufacture is used by the military. Oh boy, I sure hope I can meet their demands... gulp.

Umm... not sure what to say about the interview. It was... uneventful. The interviewer did most of the talking and didn't ask any really tough questions I was prepared for. This company just has you standing around, pressing buttons and the machines are the ones that assemble the circuits. Work starts at 6 AM to about 4:30 PM with 10 minute breaks every 2 hours and a 30 minutes break at 11:30 AM. There is much overtime to be had and It makes me wonder if I'll be able to go to school for a bachelor's degree while working there. Gotta keep the prayers going.

Still praying. A full-time job with overtime can be difficult to juggle with classes- my mother did that, took night courses. It took her 8 years to get her degree that way, so it's not the most expedient, but praying that things open up for you so that you can continue your education.

Man, it's been nearly a month, all my money is practically gone, this snow storm has hit and my orientation with Sonic was delayed by a week because of it. I once again find my faith wavering. My grandmother has offered to live with her but I really don't want to live there. I simply don't like to live with them. I know that sounds harsh, but in my life, I was never really able to get along with anyone in my family. To have everything God has blessed me with taken away almost instantly. I told of my 10 year long battle against lust to the men at my church, I want to live my life all about God, I want to help those less fortunate then me but I just can't seem to keep things straight. I've reached the point where I'm thinking that my life is not worth living. How am I supposed to do anything if everything I do is in vain?

Hey man,
It starts in the family. If you can win the spiritual battle involving your family, it makes winning other battles a whole lot easier. Let me encourage you to take this opportunity to get things worked out with your family. The Lord will be with you. Trust Him. He'll take care of things.

God bless!

I'm praying for ya!

God'll see you through, brother. I know it's tough right now, but hey, in a week you'll have that job at Sonic! Stick to the positive, it's gonna be okay. :)

Jeez... I can't seem to catch a break. Here's an email I got.

"This is ---- from sonic I am sorry to inform you that I am not able to hire you at this point in time. We will not have the labor to support another employee. I do not want to keep putting off your start date while you could be putting in applications elsewhere because I do not think we will be able to hire in the near future. If anything changes I will give you a call. Sorry for any inconvenience."

Safe to say I got no faith left.

Faith that you'll get a job? Obviously, but let me encourage you. God will be with you.

I also encourage you to get together with your family again. Seriously, God gave us family for a reason. They should support you and you them. Now's more than as good a time as any to learn to trust them. :D It will be alright. I'm still praying for you!

Sorry to hear about all of that. It's definitely a scary situation to be in. Continue to remain strong in faith buddy. I'll be praying for you, that the Lord will help guide you to the right job and that your needs are taken of.

Update: Just started working for Sonic and oh boy... I'm starting out at minimum wage of $7.25/hr a far cry from the $9.50/hr that I need. Not only that, but I'm only scheduled to work 24 hours next week. Now I definitely need to find one a job that can at least pay $9.50/hr at 40 hours a week. Preferably sitting down, my back won't be able to take that kind of punishment.
