While we don't know what it will be doing, it would be pretty hard to make a movie worse than Shambala.

It's an original sidestory that apparently has something to do with batpeople or flying monkeys or something.

Do we know when it's set? Is it while they're looking for the Philosopher's Stone before the beginning of the series, or is it after the end?

Opening shot in the teaser makes me think this could be sometime during volume one, but it could just be a nod.

So, I haven't seen anything on here about the film trilogy based on Osamu Tezuka's Buddha. The first movie, which looks like it's based on the first English volume (the numbering w/ the Japanese release is different), opens in Japan on May 28.

Considering the source material is my absolute favorite manga, I am very excited and a little scared =).

Here is the official site. There is a link to a trailer on the top left.

Last time, we were left with two mystery TYPE-MOON projects. The first is Girl's Work, originally announced as a visual novel, but vanished into the ether. It will be animated by ufotable. Note that we still have yet to see a release of Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, the other announced visual novel.

More exciting is the announcement of the Fate/Zero anime, also animated by ufotable. Fate/Zero is a light novel by Urobuchi Gen that is a prequel to the events of Fate/stay night, following the events of the Holy Grail War that took place ten years before F/sn in which Emiya Kiritsugu took part.

noitaminA just did a live stream event and revealed most of the shows they were going to broadcast for the year.

January
Fractale and Wandering Son (Hourou Musuko) we already knew about; go read the winter 2011 thread.

April
C is an original anime from the guy that did Mononoke and Trapeze. There's a PV on the official website.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Anohana) is an original anime project by A-1 Pictures from the Toradora team. There's a PV up at the website.

July
Bunny Drop (Usagi Drop), based on the manga by the same name, will be produced by Production I.G.
No. 6 is an adaptation of a novel by the guy who wrote the Telepathy Shoujo Ran novels and will be produced by BONES.

I have a question. Does noitaminA do the animation? Or just pay for it? Or...what? I'm still fuzzy on what company does what, and not sure where else to ask.

noitaminA is the name of the Fuji TV timeslot (Thursdays 24:45-25:45 JST).

In other news, Fate/Zero is a TV series set to air later this year.

Also in a hilarious turn of events, the 3rd episode of Gundam Unicorn is being pushed back a month because too many people pre-ordered it.

GONZO has risen from the grave to bring its first anime production in two years. What exciting title could they possibly be animating?

Nyanpire.

It's based on a small doujinshi that's spawned a ridiculous amount of character goods. It certainly seems like something they're capable of doing. Also, not gonna lie, but I think Date Masamunya seals it for me.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little weirded out at where the cross is...positioned on that black cat... Dx

This doesn't really look like something the Gonzo I'm used to do would do... lol. But I guess they gotta rebuild somewhere, and a cashcow probably isn't a bad start...

But man, if that cute little face isn't hyp...not...ic. O^O

Congratulations, I guess enough DVDs of the OVA got sold for them to justify the creation of a Tamayura TV anime.

Actually, this could turn out pretty okay since my biggest problems with the original Last Exile were the story and characters.

I'm sure Gonzo will still botch the execution, but it's a start.

Oh man. Buried in that article is the following statement:
In portions of the interview posted last week, [Leji Matsumoto] added that his new project, Zero Desigze, will be an anime released this year.
Wow. Super excited about this.

Unless Brain's Base starts doing two shows a season, it's looking like they've got their lineup set for the rest of the year: Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera in Spring and Kami-sama Dolls in Summer, which leaves Natsume Yuujinchou for Fall.

Oh, so I missed something about Towa no Quon. Apparently, it was announced a while back that it's actually a six-movie theatrical release. To refresh everyone, Towa no Quon is an original mecha anime produced by Bones and was directed by Iida Umanosuke, who did the latter half of The 08th MS Team.

Official website is up now too. Premieres June 18 in Japan.

Totally looking forward to it.

Does anyone know if there is an official air date for Kamisama Dolls yet? It looks like Natsume 3 is slated for summer, so...yeah.

Also, this news isn't really news anymore, but I'm super excited that Kimi to Boku is getting an anime adaption.
